Used 2006 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews
Mostly positive
I love my little Civic. I was amazed how well it handled Floyd Hill, just outside Denver (6% grade). I was able to maintain a steady 65 all the way up. It's responsive, and it has the best sound system I've ever had. The only things I'm not wild about are the headrest (makes your neck bend more than I like) and the low slung front end, which screaches on the bump as I enter my drive. They should prop it up another inch, and move that headrest back about an inch. Then it would be the perfect car. But as is, it's awesome.
Just 'OK'
Have had my 06 for 30 months and 61,000 miles. Only mechanical problems were - broken idle pulley, misaligned window (i.e fell off track). Yes, I average 36-38 mpg. Be prepared to live with: A TON of road noise, poor ride quality, constant shifting 5sp auto, poor power band esp with A/C on, and various (ever changing) rattling (ranging from the right front end to the rear shelf). I guess I expected better - maybe I need to lower ' the bar' of my expectations.
A fun, sporty ride that won't disappoint
I fell in love with this car the minute I saw it. Instead of purchasing a new coupe, I scored a Certified Used 2006 with only 771 miles in the beautiful Royal Blue Pearl for a fraction of what a new one would have cost me. I've only owned my coupe for 7 months and today was honestly the only day I had a problem with it. For some odd reason the engine wouldn't turn over!! It finally started. That was very puzzling and if it happens again, I of course will take it back to the dealer. Other than that, this car has not disappointed me at all. I get endless compliments on it all the time.
The Best Buy - A Great Car
I purchased our vehicle for my 16-year old daughter, a birthday surprise. I researched and shopped around for the safest vehicle I could put her in and still afford and that a 16-year old girl would be proud of, and we couldn't have done better. She absolutely loved her car. It was cool. More importantly to me, the gas mileage was super. She unfortunately was in a huge wreck. The car did exactly as it was supposed to, held up completely under pressure, frame never gave way, airbags deployed. The police and wreckers were amazed, and I was thankful. It is the only car I will put her back in.
Best car I've owned
Well, I upgraded to the HCH II from a Jeep Wrangler, so this is like driving a Lexus for me. But, based upon my memory of my previous Coupe, this car blows all others away. Honda really got it right this time. The new Civic feels more like the Accord sans the leather seats. I opted out of the Navi because the dealers in the Los Angeles area are charging $1500+ markups. The $650 TomTom does the job.
