thanks for the fond memories
The 2000 Si is a wonderful car to own; repairs are inexpensive and infrequent, maintenance is a snap, and driving this car is a pure joy. If you want to upgrade and modify, there probably isn't a more versatile car out there. I owned my Si for 6 years, and sadly, it was stolen from me just before Christmas! To whomever did this...Karma is coming, and she won't be kind!
A dual-purpose car
I bought this car used with 110,000 miles on the clock and unmolested, actually it was a Canadian Model (SiR). First thing about this car is the handling. With double-wishbone front suspension and independent rear, it just felt like you can go into any corner at speed! However, what makes this unique (applies to all Hondas with VTEC) is the VTEC engine. low-rpm is great for gentle in-town driving (or when you are calm). When you wanna gun it down, just hold the rev up and virtually no other NA cars can keep up with you, not to mention the sound and the turbo-feel when it does that.
Another Honda for the history books...
I bought my 2000 Civic Si with 146k miles on it. A few thousand miles later had to rebuild the engine because the piston rings were cracked and lost compression. But every other component on the car works great (coupled with regular maintenance of course). Great power after rebuild, tons of fun especially in VTEC above 6k rpms!
Honda Civic Si
I must say I am very satisfied with the car. The performance is good the gas mileage is good. Reliability is very good. It is fairly comfortable for the class. I recommend this car.
The BEST pocket-rocket!!!!
I reviewed and drove many, many cars before buying my 2000 Si and finally decided that it offered the most for the money. I have not been disappointed since. This car flat out ROCKS!!! It has awesome, easy to use power and anyone with a VTEC motor will tell you that the sound is great. handling is flat and precise. I've had no problems whatsoever during my 2+ years of ownership. I trade cars pretty regularly (a new car about every 2 years) but I will DEFINITELY keep this car as long as possible. A keeper!!
Civic Si sporty, fun, reliable
I love my Si! I bought it new in 2000 and have just recently begun to add aftermarket parts to it. It was fun to drive before, but with its new intake, headers and exhaust its even better. Thanks to Honda's attention to long term quality, I haven't had any problems and don't expect to. My next step: 17 inch wheels with low profile tires ;)
Fun and reliable
As a everyday car, this is the best. It handles very well. Has more then enough power. And when any other honda's drive along you know that you car is much more bad a**. Me and my honda civic si have gone throught alot together, and we'll go throught alot more, i wouldn't change it for the world.
A fun and practical car
What can I say about the car? I love it to death. From the spunky 1.6 VTEC engine to the precise handling. I bought this car use for around 11,000 and it has been a great investment. It's fun to drive around hitting redline in this thing. It's also really reliable. I've had no problems in the 7 months I've had the car. My only gripes are the lack of torque, but hey it's a honda.
Great car, just not that big
I bought this car as an upgrade from my 1996 hatch and it was a definite change. There is definitely more power and throwing in power steering doesn't hurt the situation. The power in the car won't put you pack in your seat (maybe at the higher end of first gear), but it's a nice change from the paltry 106 hp of the lower end models. The car has done nothing but run great for me. The only problems I've had are that the alignment of my driver's side window motor turned bad, but I fix all things myself and it was quite easy. The other problem was that the exhaust pipe rusted through, which was also a problem on my other Honda. Again, not much of a problem and an easy fix.
Si review
the car was a great buy new. it has held almost all of its value over the last 3 years. 1.6l engine lacks torque, but that is to be expected. fast enough to get the job done, but will not really get you in trouble. understeers in the wet.
Good car but not for me
I have nothing against my Si. It's a quick little car but there are a few things i dont like about it. First off, if you're not shifting every 2 seconds you will find yourself winding every gear out to almost 5k rpms. You almost need to do this with the lack of torque that the Si has. My '92 Sentra SE-R(151k miles) is so much more enjoyable to drive and picks up a lot better around town. If I had to do it over again I would have just bought the sentra and saved the other 15 grand I wasted.
Honda knew this car needed more torque!
I have driven this this car since new for 70000 miles. Overall a good reliable car and fun to drive on flatter roads and curves. Engive loves to rev, but low RPM torque is *very* weak. It's difficult to start from a dead stop up hills with steeper grades (especially when you're with passengers) - the engine just doesn't generate enough power unless you really rev it and burn the clutch! MPG in my opinion is average - 25.5 over life of the car with "normal" mixed city/hwy driving - and requires premium fuel. The original front brake pads lasted over 60000 miles for me.
Civic Si
When the first Si came out i told my self that someday i will have one of those, and fortunaly i bought mine in January of this year, and man do i love it. I have been into imports all my life and love the sound of a fixed up 4 cylinder, its really great when you pull up next to a domestic and you kick their butt :). I have added aftermarket parts to my Si and it really got the Vtec strong, I mean what other car boost your power 10 times greater from 5500rpm to redline which is 8000rpm who can complain with that. Im keeping this car for a long time and i know i will have no problems with it.
Still going Strong
I felt the need to leave a review again about this amazing never die car. I am the original owner of my 2000 civi Si which is has 89,000 miles now but it is so awesome that I get great gas mileage and can still run with other cars, the only thing i have done is lower it and a little mods here and there but other than that still runs beautiful and oh yeah no probs with it either. I change the oil every 3,000 and tune-up every 30,000 and it keeps going and going and going. If you are looking at this car to buy used and u pass it up u r a fool. going on 6 years now of owning it, don't plan on selling it. if I ever do, it will be real hard! Bring the new Si. Still won't stand a chance!
love it
this car is very fun to drive, and is very comfortable. it has been very reliable for me, i haven't had a single problem out of it yet.
Almost Perfect!
I bought my 2000 Civic Si brand new. I have never had a single problem with it mechanically. Just followed the recommneded maintenance - that's it! I have driven it through fairly heavy rain/snow with no problems - that is, AFTER replacing the stock Michelin XGT V4's, which were downright DANGEROUS on any wet road conditions. I am now running Yokohama Avid T4's, which are not as high-performance but they increased the ride comfort considerably - at the cost of more body lean in the turns due to a softer sidewall. A fair trade-off, because their wet-weather capability is outstanding.
what a great deal!
this is by far the most fun to drive car i have ever owned and i have had many different cars in my life. the handling is amazing and the power that you get out of a little 1.6 liter engine is unbelievable. plenty of affordable mod's for this car available. i plan to keep this car as long as i can.
My Perfect Match
I've owned this 2000 Civic Si for almost 2 years. So far I have spent exactly $0.00 on repairs. Regular maintenance and rough driving is all I've put into it. Compared to my previous car (1996 Ford Taurus) which had several expensive issues and malfunctions in 3 years of ownership. Driving the Si is a lot more fun and it gets decent mileage even if you get a heavy foot from time to time. (I averaged 28 MPG even with rambunctious driving and 'stop and go' driving. The factory spec is 26/32 MPG. This car is my perfect match. The next closest would be the Celica GT-S which is a little too flashy looking for my taste.
Five years and still love my Si coupe
Bought new - I drive hard and love the way this red rocket runs. Excellent value for the money. Extremely reliable. I regularly check the resale on this car - a stock Si holds its value as well as a Mercedes.
Civic SI
This car is so much fun, I love my car, I would suggest this to anyone who wants a small reliable car!
Great car
The civic SI is a great value. You can't beat this fun-to-drve coupe in terms of its combination of economy, performance and reliability. I highly recommend it.
Why I can't sell my 2000 Civic Si Coupe
Honda really hit a nerve in the 1999-2000 Si Coupes. I will admit that I have done a few suspension tweaks to the rear, upper rear tower brace, and lower rear tie bar. Sportline springs, and opened up the lungs of this little race car with a cold air intake, 4-2-1 header, and cat back exhaust. Short throw shifter, Sorry Honda, 5th gear had me scraping my knuckles on the glove box. Oh and the front seats belong in a Buick. Overall evaluation is that this is still one of the greatest little cars of all time, it makes me smile every time I drive it, and with my specs added is the perfect ticket getter for me.
civic si
This is the funniest car i have ever been around its reliable, fun to drive, a great looker that draws lots of attention, is practical, and can scream like no other 1.6 liter n/a car out there can can even come close to and the car handles like a dream i look forward every weekend to heading to the mountains for a fun drive no other car in its class could ever offer.
HONDA CIVIC SI 6 YEARS LATER
I bought this car in college because I needed a car to get from point A to B and that was different and fun to drive. I have had no problems other than what the previous owner had caused due to performance mods. My mileage in city driving has been about 23 mpg while on the highway at 72 mph it has been 32.5 max.I am very happy with this car and love driving it.
rolling hard
I love my ride I bought the car used and have not regreted a single moment. I read the reviews and felt it would be a shame not to get one. I have owned three previous hondas, but they were all accords this is my first civic. I am kinda dissapointed that their is no clock on hte dash but I can live with it. I did notice noise coming from the dash as so many reported but no biggie. Fuel is awesome especially with the prices now
High Reving Fun
I've had my Si for 2 years now and I still love the car. Overall, it's a fun car to drive, has got a lot of spirit to it and has been unbelievably dependable. Haven't any problems with it thus far. The driving experience is generally enjoyable, especially when reving up to and past vtec. The car handling is rather nimble and it corners well, particularly for a FWD car. Acceleration is nice through the lower gears and the fifth gear is responsive on highway driving.
The Si
Never have any mechanical problems with any of my hondas, and my si is no exeption. Great car and fun to drive.
2000 civic si
love the car fast n simple very fun to drive in the 5 speed manual. great engine to put aftermarket mods to.My car will soon be up to 300 horse power n improved torqe
Great car...few problems
Very nice car to drive.Clutch is easy to push in and out.Power is wounderful.suspension is good..could use some work on the performance side. But rides great. One PROBLEM: Transmision mount went bad.
2000 Civic Si ROCKS!
Make no mistake, this is a driver's car. The highlight of the car is the VTEC engine, reportedly a result of Honda's involvement in racing...oh, so that's why when you get on it, it sounds like a NASCAR stocker screaming down the backstretch at Watkins Glenn. This car make sounds that are very pleasing to the auto enthusiest, but may be annoying to others. The transmission is so smooth and there is hardly any lean in the corners. This car is hard to drive slow. Even with this excellent performance, the car gets 26 to 31 mpg.
Best sportscar for the price
I love this car. It's quick,a gas saver, and fun to drive. I traded my nissan maxima for a smaller car.I found my car after months of research.I love the attention it gets at stop lights and other places and I haven't even added the mods yets.
Love my SI
I love this car! I have had other civic's and this one is by far the best! the gas milage and the handeling are great. I highly recommend buying this car, if you can get your hands on one!
Poor Man's sport Car to the MAX
I've had my car brand new from the dealer. It's a joy to drive, and to make modification on. Most civic owners complain about the road & engine noise when driving. Well remember that the Civic is a lower-end Honda product and wasn't meant to be a luxury car. Nevertheless, it far excel in it's purpose and gets a definate THUMBS UP from this Honda Civic SI owner.
Civi Si
First off, if i know that the "Si" meant steal it I would have bought a daewoo. Other than that its a blast to drive. What really sold me was the fact that I could get some sporty performance or decent gas mileage (haven't hit above 32 mpg yet), depending on my mood. Also it handles really well for being FWD. I also really liked that they put in the B16A2 engine instead of boring D-series.
untitled
fun to drive.. nice pep for a 4- banger.. fun to hit vtec.. handles well.. reliable and gets good mileage
It's just amazing!!
I sold my 97 Accord EX coupe due to its weight, and bulkiness, but the fuel economy and reliablilty always amazed me. I chose the 2000 Civic Si over the 05 Mazda3, 03 Civic Si, 05 Corolla XRS, Cobalt, RSX-s, Sentra SE-R V, and the 04 Lancer evo (not enough $$). After owning it for over a year, i've noticed how much of a gas saver this car can be if one is easy with the pedals. I've actually documented 30city/34hwy mpg several times after a tuneup was done. It's also very easy and inexpensive to maintain. So far I have had no problems at all. I'm literally in love with this car! I highly recommend a (92-present year) civic (any model) for a High School/College student or a first time buyer!
A modest Civic Si review
I have to say driving the Si all the time is fun. When I first got it, for the 1st 2 days i did nothing but shift at 8000rpm every time!! and guess what it cost me? a full tank of gas that I would have normally used up in 1 1/2 weeks. The Si grabs when i need it and VTEC really helps me if I need a little more power. I love the look of it with the factory front lip and side skirts and still get comments to this day about my Si. 1 thing I wish Honda would have done with the engine is give it more torque. I would have been happy with a extra 20-30 ft-lbs of torque. But otherwise, I love my Electron Blue Pearl Civic Si!
my honda vs anything
when the first si's came onto the market i told myself i was going to have one some day. the day finally came. this car is so fun do drive. the 8k redline is amazing. when the vtec changes over the car is great. everything about this car is fun. the engine does lack low end torque but it is tstill very fun to drive. i recommend this car over any other import in the price range, if you are lookin for a coupe around 16k i strongly recommend the civic si.
the best civic
in my opinion, this is by far the best civic that honda has sold in the states. even the new si doesn't compare to the 2000 in terms of looks and performance. you get a lot of performance out if this car for $17,000. it even outperforms some cars costing more. i've had mine since 2000 and wouldn't trade it in for anything. i highly recommend this car.
Si: Best Sports Car Around
I have had nothing but fun with this car, and it is the best car on gas, handling, and of course Performance! and they also don't make this body style ne more, so if u find one Grab it fast!!
Almost the perfect car
Very hard to find vehicles..get one while you can.Took me about 4-5 months to find one that I really want and is in excellent conditions.Wouldn't trade it for another car.
Not a bad day in this car
I think the car speaks for itself. 1.6 liter engine that puts out 160 hp. Hard to find another car that does that. Handles with confidence. Very comfortable. Extremely well built and reliable. I have driven this car hard but it seems to have been designed for it. The redline is at 8000 rpm and it makes its max horsepower at 7800.
honda love
i only had my civic si for a year and i put 35000 mi on it. not one problem, its a fun car to drive, if i didnt have to sell it to get a truck i would still own it today, and since then i've bought another civic
Perfect
Too fast... Luv it.
SI = fun!!
This is the best car all around in its class for the price! It has performance, reliability, and fun! I love this car, but thieves love it more.
Couldn't let go
This is my 3rd Civic over a 12-year period. I've owned the '91 hatchbacks and '94 EX coupes and this model is by far the best one. I prefer this model over the current hatchback Si's. I've driven it for 51,500 miles with no problem. I was within a day of selling it when when I bought my IS300, but decided I couldn't let go of it. I suspect my Si will outlast the IS.
civic si
extremely respectable manufacturer. extremely respectable car.
Si pride
this car is awesome to drive could use some more torque but for a 4cyl, 1.6 liter honda got the most you could which is pretty impressive for this engine! bought the car brand new and do not plan to sell anytime soon!!! :)
Great Car, Performance, and Fun!
This is a great car. Fun to drive, it has all the power you need, and it is a good value.
corey
this car rocks. i own one. it is a very smooth ride.it is also very quick.
