Used 2018 Honda Accord EX-L 4dr Sedan w/Navi (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT) Consumer Reviews
No cars are built like a Honda
I have owned 3 Honda Accords and 2 Ridge Line trucks. I still have the first Honda Accord (1981) and bought It as a gift for my wife. She refuses to sell it because its one of the best cars we've ever owned. I have owned 5 Mercedes and the new 2018 EX Honda I just purchased out performs all of them. (The Honda engineers know how to mix metals)

A Very Nice Family Sedan with Many Upscale Feature
Our new 2018 EXL with Navi replaced a 2014 Accord EXL. The 2014 was the first 4-cylinder Accord we have owned and, quite frankly, we didn't miss the V6 much except when you wanted to accelerate very quickly. The new 1.5L turbo has about the same acceleration and power as the 2014, and is more than adequate for all types of driving. We have put about 1,000 mi on the new car thus far and are indeed impressed. The gas mileage is even better than the 2014, which was excellent. So far we are getting 36-37 mpg with a little city driving and a lot of highway. On a 140 mi trip on the interstate we averaged 39 mpg driving 72-73 mph. The new Honda is considerably more quiet in both around town and highway driving. It also rides better than the 2014 by a significant margin. There is much less tire noise. The handling is similar to the 2014, and the 2018 seems to corner even better than the 2014. The interior in the 2018 is very impressive and is more upscale. All of the electronic safety features work really well. The adaptive cruise controll is very intuitive and effective. The touch-screen and audio system is much more intuitive to operate and sounds better. The only feature we miss is the camera on the passenger side mirror, which has been replaced by the Blind Spot Information System (BSI). The BSI works quite well and is very effective, but the camera was nice to leave turned on when driving in city traffic. We are getting fond of the BSI, however, and the visibility out of the front and sides of the car is excellent, and an improvement over the 2014. Overall the 2018 is more of a luxury sedan. We really like the addition of memory seats, sliding driver seat on entry/exit, and built in garage door opener. As for the looks, we like the front portion of the car better than the 2014, but not the rear. The looks of the new Honda is growing on us, however. We have found no rattles thus far and the car feels very solid and is fun to drive. Our initial reaction is Honda has done a great job on the Accord. If it holds up as well as our other Accords, it will be a homerun.

Jerky Transmission!
I was so excited to test drive the new Accord 2.0 Turbo with the 10 speed automatic...I finally got to drive it yesterday and boy was I disappointed. first of all, the car is very low which makes getting in and out a bit of a challenge - unlike the former Accords I owned which were pretty easy in and out. I was most excited about the new REAL transmission - I am not a fan of CVTs. But the new transmission is not at all smooth! From the first moment on the way out of the dealer lot to the road for the test drive, the transmission was misbehaving by jerking and "stumbling"...it felt like it didn't know what to do. After getting out on the road, things didn't get better, the acceleration was not smooth and there seemed to be a long lag before it sped up - it was not a pleasant driving experience at all. On the way back into the lot to park it, when I let off the gas, the transmission "stumbled" badly as it felt like it was shifting down through all ten gears quickly...not good. The car handles well and has a quiet ride but it does not feel spacious inside because you are sitting so low and seemed like there were a lot of blind spots. Maybe the car I drove had not been broken in or something was wrong with it, but I urge you to pay close attention to the behavior of the transmission if you test one of these....also, I noticed that the cover over the camera on the windshield that is part of the Honda Sensing system was broken or had come loose - fit and finish issues? Pay attention if you test this one!

Negatives outweigh the positives
Built for the 10-12 yr old passenger. Beyond that age you'll notice the annoyances of getting in-out, seat discomfort (can't even adjust passenger seat height), extreme jolts from ALL bumps with rear seat passengers suffering the most, and difficult rear window vision. Don't rely on the camera entirely. You WILL hit things. If you want this car, don't lease. Your resale/turn-in value decreases by 25% instantly and will take in inordinate amount of time to recover or break even. Won't happen during the 36 month frame. If you buy it, you will be hard pressed to get a positive equity return. Also, good luck trying to get accustomed to the brakes. The 20" tires come with the most sensitive brakes I've ever seen. No such thing as a smooth stop any more. On the positive side, navigation and acceleration are above expectations. Any of the other positives can be had on most other brands. Summary: reread my title for this review.

Honda quality thing of the past!
Maintained car to the letter and still ended with very expensive fuel injector repairs at 75k miles. Dealer and Honda both said tough luck. Buyer beware!
