Silver bullet Accord Sport 2.0T

The six speed manual transmission is very smooth comfortable shifting. The 2.0T motor has great acceleration and incredible torque. I live on a mountain and my favorite part of driving home is when I hit the hills, this car loves to climb! The infotainment touch screen is very easy to use and the sound system is outstanding. My only complaint about this car is that the emergency brake must be applied in order to start the car, not a big deal, and I got used to it, but seems like it would be a major pain in the neck if I happened to stall in traffic.....it hasn't happened, but I don't like the thought of it. Overall a great car. Well now to update, it is about a year since I bought the six speed manual Accord, and about 6 months since I traded it in for a 10 speed automatic. I injured my shoulder which required surgery, so the dealer gave me a pretty good deal on the automatic. I must say that overall, I don't miss the manual transmission. As much as I liked the manual, the 10 speed shifts super smooth and is incredibly quick, particularly in the "sport" mode. Fuel economy is better as well, averaging about 32 mpg combined. There is a considerable lag with the push button transmission when shifting into gear from park and shifting from drive to reverse. Once in gear it performs very well but the lag shifting into gear is annoying. Otherwise, great cruiser, plenty of room inside front and back, love the Android auto and Apple CarPlay, decent fuel economy, and fast! My biggest complaint now is the low front end, I have to be real careful of parking front curbs, which are hard to judge...haven't hit one yet. So I have owned the car over a year now and have a couple issues, Honda seems to think it’s a great idea to be able to remotely open all the windows and roof on a hot day, only problem is that it is possible to do this accidentally. I keep my keys in my pocket and have had 2 occasions when everything opened up. It happened once with my car parked outside and 10 inches of snow dumped inside when the roof opened! Apparently 2 remote buttons have to be pressed and held at the same time...but it happened. Honda has no way to disable this feature. My other issue is the climate control, blows cold air through the upper vents when heat is demanded. Dealer said this is normal, just trying to satisfy the temperature, but it doesn’t seem right to have cool air blowing through top vents and warm at bottom on a cold day.

As I look over other reviews I am seeing a pattern. This is my first Honda product and I have to say I am not impressed. I thought for the price the technology packed in my Accord 1.5 Touring CVT was a value. I was mistaken. I have owned it for 5 months and it has been in the shop 5 times for a variety of issues starting with rattles to more serious issues. The latest is a message stating “braking system problem”. I have noticed other owners having the rattling issues and I have gotten the same response from Honda as they got. Take it back in and get it fixed. I also have had problems with the infotainment system not initializing for up to 5 minutes. I have requested a lemon law case be opened to replace the car because the dealership has put 300 miles on the car test driving it and it still isn’t fixed. Now that I see the same issues in other cars I cannot recommend the 2018 Honda Accord until these issues are worked out. I would give it a year for Honda to take action before purchasing one. Update; The Accord continued to give me problems I traded the Accord in for a Mercedes GLC300. It was a long process but Honda did realize the problems and did help me out of it.

The Best Honda Just Keeps Getting Better

Update: after owning the car for two years, I still think it’s a great car. I’ve had no problems or mechanical issues of any kind. Just what I expected when I bought it so I am pleased. #### I traded my very good 2014 Honda Accord EX-L for this 2018 Accord EX. So far I am extremely pleased. This car is better in almost every way. The look of the car is more sophisticated and luxurious. The technology is on par with almost any car on the market today especially at this price point. The layout of the dash is crisp and clean. Everything is very intuitive. You don't have to hunt for a dial or a switch. It is right where you expect it to be. The fake wood veneer is tasteful. The 8 in touch screen makes the tiny screen in my 2016 BMW look old and dated. I think the addition of knobs plus a touch screen is a winning combination. Road noise is down a bit...not Lexus quiet but a little better than before. The stock stereo is fine for most folks. There seems to be a bit more room in the newer Accord but I haven't looked at the numbers. The trunk is large and spacious. Seats are pretty comfortable. This is always a matter of taste. My wife thinks my old Accord's seats were better. The 2014 had leather. This time I opted for cloth with heated seats. I am crossing my fingers and using Scotchguard. I saved 2K by not going with leather but I don't know if I will miss it. Important to note is that you can get heated with cloth in the Accord for 2018. This was really an attraction for me. I also opted for the heated steering wheel and the USB plug for the back. The ideas was to get most of the benefits without the cost. We shall see. The ride is comfortable but not plush. If you have had Accords before you will know what I mean. A few small things to note. I love the new 'Honda Sensing' , the blind spot warnings in the mirror are good. I also like the adaptive cruise control and the lane keeping assist. I have used it on the highway and it does seem to keep me in the lane a bit easier. It is not autonomous driving but an aid. I didn't opt for Nav The car has Apple Car Play. I don't think you can bring up Google maps on screen so you are stuck with Apple maps which I think are inferior...but I am not 100% certain.. the tech guy said.. Apple Car Play.. Apple maps..haha. This is odd... but someone else will care. You get Michelin tires on the EX but I don't think they come standard on the EX-L. Michelins are important to me so this was another incentive. I think the wheels are stock 17's. I am not in love with this design but didn't want to pay for better or bigger wheels. The professional reviewers say the 17's ride better but I only rode in the EX. before I bought the car. I had already made up my mind that it would be one car EX or the EX-L. I was satisfied with the EX after I drove it and then it just came down to color. There are a few nit picks. The CVT is just ok. Don't expect a miracle. Acceleration is adequate and only just so. My 320 xi BMW drives better as far as road feel but I really do like this car as well. Food for thought, you may not want to pull the trigger til after the 2.0 I think it is... 10 speed automatic comes out. All of life is about choices. I didn't want to pay more for what I perceived would be limited value for my money, nor did I want to wait. Others may disagree. I did like the wheels on the Touring by the way so of course there is that. All in all I am very pleased, I opted for no extended warranties nor maintenance plans. that is why I buy Honda's. I think Honda knew who its buyers were and built a great car for them. I think you will be hard pressed to find a better mid priced sedan. UPDATE: Still think the car is a great car. Mixed emotions on the lack of leather... I am always worried about spills.. I treat the cloth every few months. Just today I had a spill. I think it will clean up but we will see tomorrow. One thing I will note, you do sit down lower in the car than I might like. I also think I would like a bit more power. All in all a solid performer. Just note a few quibbles.

This car is a well rounded fun to drive sedan with a light feeling agile package and a potent 2.0t engine and 10 speed transmission that works well and produces strong acceleration. The 10 speed is responsive with generally smart gear selection but can be a little busy with so much shifting. In general this car feels much faster than my prior 301HP Lexus GS due to much better mid-range torque. In fact, sometimes power comes on with more impact that you expect and wheel spin is too easy. Traction control should have one more aggressive mode. Generally drive line works well though some surging does occur and I find using eco mode produces a smoother overall driving experience with it's slower throttle mapping. The dash is an excellent blend of modern technology and simplicity that is easy to use on a day to day basis. Take some time to explore the controls and read the manual as there is a bit of complexity and the time invested will help you like the car more. The basic NAV is good with some occasional dubious route choices but the system works much better than my Lexus unit did and Android Auto is also available. Search for and enable the tachometer all the time mode for the left instrument then use the center of that gauge for something like mileage or NAV or radio for a nice combination. The speakers seem a bit cheap sounding especially on FM but the Siris and Bluetooth audio sources do sound better than the FM and speaker break-in after 3-4months did improve the sound a bit. I know it says sub-woofer in rear deck but I can’t hear it. The Bluetooth phone hands free produces better audio on both ends with my Samsung S8, now S20 phone than my $54k Lexus did! Further, if using the phone the infotainment touch screen is excellent as entering an extension # on most hands free systems is nearly impossible, while on this one it is easy. The voice recognition for navigation is 2005 quality and basically worthless for entering addresses while driving. Seat shape and support is good but they are WAY TOO hard(notice dealer parts room accessories have several seat cushion options for sale on the wall!). My son has a Clarity and those Honda seats are much nicer. Notice that like many Japanese cars the passenger seat has no height adjustment which is illogical. Please Honda add a basic manual lift option as when a shorter person like the wife or mother is in that seat they complain the sun visor is worthless and they are grumpy! Ride and handling are good but a little mixed. The steering feel with the 19" wheels is quite nice and cornering is pretty flat, but the shocks are under damped as larger undulations in the road allow the car to oscillate too much even in sport mode with some bottoming yet there is still some harshness coming through. Sport mode in city areas is of little value but on a tight mountain road in Yosemite Park I found it to be just plain excellent both handling wise and gear choice wise with grade logic working perfectly to manage speed and great choices coming out of corners(way better than the rear drive Lexus GS350 with summer tires!). On the other had Honda does not believe in sound deadening in the floor so road noise is a problem with this car, perhaps especially with the 19" wheels. Be sure to test drive the car on some different road surfaces to hear it as when tires age they get louder so the test drive is as quiet as it will get. (For reference my prior cars were a 2014 Lexus GS-350 and the large Hyundai Genesis sedan) Mileage has been ok, with city driving at 20mpg (90% city) Long trips at 34+. Overall, this car is a nice package and well implemented. I used the Costco buying service for invoice + $565. For things I’m not happy with: Item one is that the brake feel is really poor and the dealer keeps saying it is normal. This is not correct or logical & the brakes are way too touchy making smooth slowing on a gradual downhill or smoothly coming up to a stop impossible. Honda needs to fix this as the calibration of the drive by wire brakes is terrible. Parking sensors have two significant problems. One is on a daily basis the front sensors go off randomly when stopped in traffic even when there is nothing within 5ft. Second there are NO center front sensors for parking in a garage or parking lots. There are 4 sensors in the back where you already have a nice camera but on the front there are just two for the sides-DUMB! Road noise is too high and I wish they would get more serious on this topic. Hyundai Sonata or Camry are quite a bit quieter. Minor issues: Auto-high beams are silly and really rude for other drivers plus it takes some time to find out how to disable this very low value feature; the headlights are technically interesting as all LED but not very bright. Some reviewers have downgraded the car's safety rating as a result, so Honda please spend money on better lights. Trunk is flat with no real grocery bag hooks so everything goes flying. Accessory hooks would help, bought the accessory tray but its surface is slick and does not help.

I was looking for a fun to drive RELIABLE sports sedan that can haul two kids in car seats. I wanted a manual transmission because I like driving regardless of traffic conditions. It's something I am used to. I am coming from early 2000's 5-speeed manual compact sedans like Civic EX and the 2018 Accord took me from the Stone Age to the Space Age (Android Auto/Apple Car Play/Honda Sensing). The creature comforts like automatic climate control, Honda Sensing (especially Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking), Android Auto (which supports Waze, CarPlay does not) are really good to have in a modern car. Honda got it right by making them standard. It was a tossup between a 2018 Subaru WRX Limited 6M (AWD & leather but no Android Auto in this year’s WRX) vs 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T 6M (no AWD or leather but with contemporary tech). While they both drive differently, they were equally fun road experience in test drive conditions. The Accord won out due to the promise of reliability and all the tech. The 2.0T engine mated with the 6M is excellent. The shifts are effortless and precise. The Accord effortlessly accelerates when merging on to freeways. The ride is a bit loud on 19” tires but you will get used to it. It is a joy to drive and with adaptive cruise control highway driving is really a fun and very fuel efficient experience. Turning off the “Econ Mode” puts the “Sport” back in the Accord, the engine is a lot more responsive, and more growl, even more fun to drive but you do pay a fuel penalty (2-3 MPG). Bottom Line: If you like driving manual and believe in the promise of Honda reliability with all the 21st century tech in a car in the $30-35K price range then it’s certainly a good buy.

Luxury car on a budget

I bought a 2018 Honda Accord Touring model only four days ago. I was planning on purchasing a Toyota Camry XSE; however, I could not find any moon roofs in the 4-cylinder model. Then, I decided to test drive the Accord with Touring trim. I bought my Accord only two days later! The Touring trim comes standard with a moon roof and leather, my two wants. The Accord blows away the Camry: the Accord is so much better. My other car is a 2014 Mazda6. At the time it was the best mid-size car on the market and won many awards. The Accord is now a much better car than the Mazda6, including the new ones on dealer lots. (My Mazda 6 has 52,000 trouble free miles on it.) The Accord drives and handles like a luxury car. Once you drive one you will want to buy it!

10 Generation Forgot the Prior Generations

Here are my good and bad impressions of the Honda Accord 2.0 T EXL: Good.. Engine power from the 2.0 T is adequate and runs on regular gas, average MPG so far is around 31MPG. Nice ride from the suspension and soaks up the bumps nicely. Good electronics and driver assist functions. Very smooth shifting 10 speed transmission. Good sight lines around the car. The Bad ... Car has a very low driving position and getting in and out of the car is compromised. Because of the lowered stance of the car it feels to low compared to most other vehicles on the road and hinders forward views. OEM tires by Hankook are one of their least expensive tires with many bad reviews on Tire Rack. Upgraded audio system has cheap sounding speakers. 10 Speed transmission has push button selector instead of shift lever. This is a pain when you need to make speedy k turns or getting out of snow. No courtesy lights in rear doors. Would have bought the Touring trim but was put off by the low profile bling type 19 inch rims that will not last long on the pot hole streets in the Northeast. I suppose Honda is going after a new generation of car buyers with this 10 generation car but this car is less appealing to all the folks who made Honda famous in the past.

What can I say that has not been said? Its a fantastic car, best I have ever driven. Its almost perfect with only a couple of low points IMO, so I am only going to list those. First, I have the upscale model, so I expect great things, and while the audio says premium, it isn't. Mediocre at best unless I am missing something. I had just driven a GMC truck that had premium Bose and it blew this away. I really wanted good audio, but oh well. Second, there are a lot of buttons and they are not as intuitive as the previous mentioned GMC, but I am sure I will learn them and all will be good. I really wanted to love Android Auto, but the interface is so out of date it seems ridiculous in a 2018 model. Hopefully we'll get updates, and that's not Hondas fault. While we are on the subject, the screen is a little weird in that it looks like it is setting on the dash, not integrated into it, but it is a beautiful display, especially the map. I would have also thought the Touring model would have had tinted windows, but it didn't. Lastly the TPM is worrying me a little, partly because of the extremely low profile tires. It seems very sensitive and went off when the car only had a couple of hundred miles on it. Checked the air, seemed fine, checked the manual and it said you have to wait up to 60 miles for it to reset (I drove it 10 and nothing) or manually reset, which wasn't terribly hard, but an annoyance. Other cars I have had only takes a couple of miles. These are very nit picky things, I love everything else about the car and would certainly recommend it. I guess I should list what I like best after all, the interior is fantastic, you would think its a $100,000 Mercedes. Vented front and heated front and rear seats, soft leather, artisan trim and accents. The driver assist works great, would never get another car without these safety features. The engine is small, but never seems to be working that hard, and I don't notice the turbo kicking in and winding it up really tight. The trans seems perfectly matched to the motor as well. TWO YEAR FOLLOW UP. Still love the car, the TPS problem was just a one off, never reared its ugly head again. The buttons have become more familiar, but its my wifes daily driver, not mine, so thats probably the reason. There's been a couple of hiccups with the adaptive cruise, sometimes when its raining the system freaks out and shuts everything down-cruise, lane departure, etc. You can still drive, and it is fine once you restart the car, but it is a bit annoying. The backup camera stopped working for a couple of days, but there is a recall to fix the software for that. Also the infotainment center has crashed a dozen times or so, hopefully the upgrade fixes that as well. UPDATE Aug 2020. The Accord is still performing flawlessly, zero issues and seems like the infotainment center doesn't crash any more, not sure if it upgraded over wifi or what. So far, its been near perfect. Only grip I may have is the tires, even when they had plenty of tread left they didn't do well in rain. I'm getting around 33 mph all around. It's now 2022, still having great service out of the Accord and happy to report there have been no issues with the car.

I hated Honda's until.....

First let me start by explaining my title. My first car was a 92 Accord Ex. I hated it. It was slow, boring, and the green color my mother originally loved when she bought it new before it became mine I hated. This started my lifetime of hate for Honda's. Over the years I have watched as Honda has created cars that look amazing. Mainly starting with the 17 CR-V. My wife actually owned a 17 model and again, I loved the tech but felt a vehicle this size, why no V6 or a larger 4 cylinder with a turbo. The time came to upgrade from my 08 BMW 5 series a couple of months ago and I made a trip to the dealership we bought the cr-V. There it was. The black 18 Accord sport 2.0T. I had just watched a video two nights prior singing this cars praises. I was there getting my wife's CR-V a free oil change and next thing I know I had to get her uber'd over to pick up her car because I was signing papers on the very car I spotted. The car drove like no Honda I had ever rode in. Even trumping the speed and handling I felt when driving my friends TLX. (Yep Honda still makes acuras for some reason less the NSX). The handling was not the exact greatness of my previous BMW, but it was much better than 4 other cars I had test driven that week. When I tell you I love everything about this car with the exception of two complaints. I am 6'3 and for a car that is so long it is a shame my right knee often scrubs the push button start area that protudes down from the front dash and often I feel a little crammed in, but I have adjusted the seat to where it is not so bad now. 2nd qualm, please Honda, stop cheaping out on your sound systems. I test drove a touring as well and the system can get loud but just sounds so horrible. I chose the sport due to the looks and rims knowing the system was worst then the touring but still the top of the line sound system is horrible. Honda get with some company and collab on a good system, even if it is kicker or Alpine just do it please. I digress, outside of those two qualms, this car is amazing. The handling, acceleration, comfort, space, and reliability (to be seen with this new turbo 4 banger love Honda has moved into) of a Honda have changed my hate to love. The 1.5 is adequate but i promise the 2.0t will make you smile when you slam the pedal to the floor. Update: no longer own the car, as we needed more space so I now own a Toyota Highlander (amazing SUV) but will always be grateful of my time with Atreyu (what I named her).

Still Love the car. Still Hate the rattle...

Still got the rattles and still getting mystery dings and marks on the rims. I used to take it to a professional to get the wheels fixed but it happens so frequently I finally gave up. Car currently has 68K miles on it and I still love the car... 27Nov2021 Still love the car but the mystery dings and marks on the rims are really frustrating. The car is performing beautifully and I'm really happy with it. Car has approximately 60K miles on it and it drives like I just drove it off the lot. Car is beautiful and performs surprisingly well. The only thing I've found wrong is a rattle coming from the passenger side of the car. I can't isolate it but it seems to come from the door. I called the dealership and they said they can't help since it's not a warranty issue so I'm stuck with it until I can figure it out... update (23 Nov 2018): after 12 visits to the dealership and getting Honda Corporate involved, I've given up. There are occasional mystery noises but they've solved enough of them that I'll just live with them now. I just wish it didn't take so many visits to get it reasonably right. The dealerships are at the mercy of Corporate and are only allowed to do what's prescribed so I can't really blame them. Corporate, so far, has only paid me lip service. I'm kinda thinking maybe I should've paid the extra $10K and got myself an Avalon... Update (nov 25,2019) some of the rattles the dealership had repaired are back. At this point I’ve given up. Another thing I’ve given up on are the wheels. They are prone to damage from everything from curbs to rocks on the road. I used to take them to a shop to get them cleaned up but mysterious dings and scrapes keep appearing even though I’ve been extremely careful to avoid damaging them. I’m sure it has to do with the low profile tires but there isn’t much I can do about that...

After owning five V6 powered Accords and Crosstours, I am a big fan of that engine’s power and smoothness, and in the Crosstour specifically, the level of refined quiet most of the time. I was highly skeptical of Honda’s decision to pull it out of the new Accord for 2018. Well, you can cross that off the list of things to worry about. I bought this thing to have a car with a good fun-to-drive score again after two lovely but reserved Crosstours, and I am here to tell you it has fulfilled that role completely. The engine in my 2.0 Touring trim has an exuberant raucousness in Sport mode that makes the car a ball to drive on a good winding, climbing road. It even has a nice throaty growl to it when you start driving like a jackass, and it sure as hell pulls strongly. I’m an early enough adopter that these are still pretty rare. It gets a lot of looks at the store when I park it, and I’ve even gotten old school thumbs up gestures out on the road. From women as well as men! Really? In a Honda Accord? Not since my 98 Coupe when that cool body style came out and I had one of the first cars in the region. OK, it’s a gorgeous red, which doesn’t hurt the profile, but even in a year or so when these are common as raindrops it is still going to be a striking car. It looks far, far better in person than in any photograph, trust me. It’s really low, just sort of crouching there. Those 19 inch wheels and properly wide tires don’t hurt the look one bit either. And the interior is just gorgeous. A Touring trim, this car has every single option that Honda offers, including a bunch of stuff that I did not expect even after viewing endless YouTube videos… like the rear seat heaters and the automatic high/low beam headlights. I knew they were all LED lights and was impressed by the quality of the light at night, but the auto adjust stuff was a surprise the first time it kicked in on a winding road on a black night soon after I bought it. I once replaced a beloved top level 1998 Accord Coupe with a top level sedan for practicality reasons, and disliked the vanilla character of the sedan so much I dumped it for another two door after only 16 months. In those days, if you wanted the attitude and the sporting flair, it came as a two door only. Now that the coupe is gone - sadly, of course - I have to admire that someone decided to let the four door throw off the shackles, as it were. This is a great Grand Tourer with plenty of character for the corners. An average sort of Accord buyer who finds him or herself in one of these after three or four earlier version cars is going to get a hell of a surprise the first time they punch that Sport button. So much so that you may see a few parked on the side of the road while the owner walks around it, looking to see if this thing really says “Honda Accord” on it. OK, the push button transmission is little weird. But it frees up plenty of room, is modern and swoopy, and you get used to it quickly. Plus, it turns out that you don’t even have to put in it Park when turning off the car. Just kill the motor with the Start/Stop button and the car puts itself in Park, and then locks itself for you as you walk away, every time. And I’ll be damned if the Garmin navigation’s voice recognition system doesn’t actually work! In both my Crosstours, if you were bored and wanted to amuse yourself, you went out to the car and told the navigation system to go somewhere. The results were so entertaining you could spend the afternoon out there. You weren’t going anyplace, that was for damn sure, but the seat was comfortable. I couldn’t believe it the other day when I said “38 Sugar Pine Road, Queensbury” and the damn thing actually pulled up it’s socks and went there. And now with the Apple CarPlay it’s reading my messages to me and responding with correctly dictated responses, even at 70 miles per hour on the Northway. The Honda Sensing stuff is good - the lane keeping has a long way to go but the radar cruise is terrific, coming to a complete stop in heavy traffic if needed. I will forever miss the LaneWatch camera, but I knew I was giving it up and the blind spot stuff works fine. The car feels solid and very safe, but capable of turning into Ted Nugent at a moment’s notice should the opportunity present itself. Really, I couldn’t be happier with this car. I came very close to buying the new Volvo XC-40 this time, but for the money - for what you get, this car is a hell of a value - and for my desire for something with some fun genes this time, this was the right choice. Clearly I am a Honda guy, but I’ve had Nissans, Fords, Pontiacs and even a Triumph Spitfire in the past, and with my Swedish heritage, that Volvo itch will eventually get scratched, but Honda has hit this one right out of the park.

Two months of mitigation errors and still not resolved. I have spent hours at dealers and on phone to corporate. In shop 8 times and still no ACC or cruise control. The best response I get is have patience with us. Honda has made me feel that I don’t count as a customer. Honda does not stand behind thier cars. My last Honda after owning ten. I traded it off after unable to get Honda to fix the issues. I lost $10,000.00, needless to say that is my last Honda.

A good car, but with a few problems...

I recently got the EX-L trim in November and am currently leasing. Overall I am happy with this car, but there a few things to consider before looking to purchase or lease this vehicle for yourself. The first thing I want to mention is the seating in the driver’s position. Comparing this to the 2017 Honda Accord, seat width feels slightly reduced because of the center console being slightly larger than the previous generations. It’s also taller from the ground. Being a bigger guy who felt comfortable in the previous generations of the Accord, it’s going to take Drivers like myself some time to properly find their level of comfort with the adjustments provided on the side of the seat. If you can afford the higher trim levels, go for the EX-L for example as the remote adjustments will find that sweet spot of the seat with ease versus pulling and pushing your seat back and forth. I also don’t believe the base LX trim model can have the seats go up and down in height adjustment. Technology wise, there’s a lot to like if you’re tech savvy. When it comes to warnings appearing on the digital driver meter as you’re driving (which you can turn off), Honda Sensing, and working on the touch screen panel, there’s a lot to get wowed by. Thankfully, if you’re not looking to get distracted by all of this, you can turn off most these features. With the way cars are moving technology wise now, this may not be the car for you if you’re not a tech savvy person as I feel the nooks and crannies of this car are surrounded by these features. My biggest complaint is the fuel door. Most cars these days have a lever or mechanism around the Driver’s side or on the floor. In this model, it has been eliminated. In its place is having the door electronically controlled by the unlock door on the Driver’s side or by using the FOB key. I noticed one day when it was cold out that the Gas door wasn’t opening. The door should be opening when either the doors are unlocked, when pressing on the FOB key (twice on the unlock button), or when the car is off. For whatever reason at cold temperatures (possibly 30 degrees and below), it doesn’t allow the sensor to electronically signal the door to unlock. This is a BIG problem; one I would hope with enough complaints considers a recall on the vehicle. It’s also possible that since this care just came out, I happened to have a bad one among the bunch being sold. It’s a bad design choice. I hope in the future models that they will revert to having a manual way of opening the door. Another thing to mention that I had a problem with was the touch screen panel randomly shutting off and rebooting twice. They both happened while I was stationary. The digital driver meter also shut off and rebooted. I took it to my dealer and they had reset the panel. The problem hasn’t occurred since. This car is good overall. There’s even a few more features in the Touring such as air conditioned seats, Wireless charging for Samsung Phones, etc. That I wish I had in the EX-L trim. It drives great, and have found no problems in that regard at all. With the way technology is evolving in cars, I can’t help but think what happens if you end up deciding to finance a car like this and have it after 100,000 miles. We usually think about mechanical problems in cars, but now new issues could arise technology wise that would malfunction and cost a lot more to fix in these vehicles. I think it’s advisable to lease these cars until you eventually decide to keep one to where you know it will be suitable for long term.

Family sports sedan with few compromises

I have owned my 2018 Honda for over two years now and I continue to be pleased with my purchase. I have had some minor issues. Every six months it seems, the radio sound will cut in and out when using the turn signal. After about a week, this issue will disappear. I have never been able to get it to the dealer when it was exhibiting this symptom so they have not been able to intervene. I agree with other reviewers that the rear camera visibility is compromised when it is wet. I also ran through my first set of tires rather quickly. However, I tend to drive aggressively so I suppose this is partly my fault. I also had some issues with the manual climate control. It seemed to me moving it one or two degrees would lead to huge swings in inside temperature. At the advice of another Honda owner, I set the auto climate control to my desired temperature and have not had any issues since. With the larger engine and the FWD, it would benefit greatly from a limited slip differential. And I have noticed that my kids prefer my wife's car because they don't sit as low in the backseat. That being said, the spaciousness of the rear passenger area never ceases to astound me. No other sedan below mid or full size sedan comes close to the Honda on rear seat legroom. I think you'd have to get a large sedan to compare (i.e. BMW 7 series). Some recent reviews here suggest some serious issues with the Accord's safety technology, that I have, fortunately, never experienced. The car continues to be a lot of fun to drive. Aside from the floor mats, the interior has held up well and still looks new. Thanks to Honda for offering a manual in their larger engine. I know it is a pipe dream, but I will say again that if this platform had a turbo-charged 6 cylinder engine, with AWD and a manual, I am certain it could hold its own against M-series BMWs and S-series Audis.

I came out of a 2015 Genesis sedan lease and financed the 2018 Accord Touring the day it went on sale in October 2017. I test drove the 2018 Camry (Toyota missed a lot of the tech the Accord has, making it a no go for me, even in the top trim level...plus the Camry costs more), 2017 CR-V (nice vehicle, but Accord had a few features the CR-V doesn't, like cooled seats and the newer Honda infotainment system), 2017 Mazda CX-5 (nice, but missing some tech), and the 2018 Audi A5 Sportback (super nice, but with a price tag to go along with it...$57K). The Accord was the clear winner of the bunch. It is somewhat reminiscent of my Genesis from a tech standpoint, but for $20K less. The Accord is easily the most luxurious feeling midsize family sedan I've driven, trumping even the Mazda 6. The material and build quality in the cabin is top notch; everything feels great to the touch. The active safety tech works well. The cabin is roomy and visibility is great. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are very useful and work well with Honda's new infotainment system (the 2018 Odyssey is the only other Honda with this new system). The sound system in the Touring is pretty good. Not an enthusiast-level system by any means, but certainly better than most non-luxury car "high-end" systems I've heard. The heated and cooled seats work very well. The car is relatively quiet on the highway compared to the competition, although coming from a Genesis which was bank vault-quiet, it seems a bit noisy by comparison. I do mostly highway driving at 77 MPH and have been averaging 34 MPG combined which is good, but not amazing. My car is the Radiant Red Metallic with Ivory leather and the combo is quite striking. I've been stopped by a few people who can't believe it is an Accord. On the negative side of things: power is just adequate. It's not slow, but compared to competitors with a V-6 or even the upcoming 2.0T Accord, it is a bit underwhelming. If you want performance, wait for the 2.0T at the end of Nov 2017. It is faster than the old V-6 Accord and even the new Camry V-6. The other benefit of the 2.0T will be the 10-speed auto in place of the CVT the 1.5T has. It's is okay as far as CVTs go, but not my favorite kind of transmission. Bottom line: this is without a doubt the best midsize family sedan on the market currently. Toyota tried with the new Camry, but failed pretty hard in my book. The Camry's 8-speed transmission is jerky, the interior is a bit of a chocolate mess, there is no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, no ventilated seats, and no memory seats at ANY trim level, even the fully loaded XSE V-6 which costs an unbelievable $40K. Every major auto publication comparison test between the two cars has given the Accord the victory at every trim level, so there's no doubt the Accord will continue its reign as the most winning vehicle of all time on Car and Driver's annual 10 Best List. ///Nov 2018 Update: I wrote my original 5-star review back in Nov 2017 after owning my 2018 Touring for a month. It's now been roughly a year and 18,000 miles later. Having lived with the car this long, I would bring the overall score down from 5-stars to 3.5-stars. Here is why: rattles everywhere. Both B-pillars rattle and the doors have rattles. The rear deck behind the rear seats rattles whenever there is any kind of bass in music. The cupholders are the worst design I have ever used in any car. They don't fit half the various size water bottles I own (which all fit perfectly in my wife's Pacifica or my old Genesis). The ones that do fit, tip over half the time when going around a turn, which is really annoying. The "high end" sound system in the Touring is merely okay. It's a non-name brand system that will certainly not wow you, especially when the entire rear of the car is rattling with bass. When I am cruising on the highway in the left lane with ACC engaged and lane keep assist turned on, about a third of the time whenever I pass a slower car in the right lane, my car will momentarily slam on the brakes as the nose of my car comes abeam the rear end of the other car, even though both cars are perfectly straight in their lanes and inside their lines. It recovers quickly, but it is pretty annoying, especially when passing on the left with other traffic on your tail. On a hot desert summer day, if I turn the cooled seats on the second I start the car, my seats barely cool off to ambient temp by the end of my 40 min drive home. In my wife's Pacifica, no matter what the outside temp, your butt/back will be frozen solid within 5-10 minutes if you keep the cooled seats on. The positives of the car still exist: roomy, reliable mechanicals, good mileage, lots of nice tech. I'm guessing my particular car was one of the earliest built since the dealer sold it to me the day prior to the car officially going on sale in the US back in Oct 2017. Hopefully future model years will rectify some of the issues I've seen, but for now I am lowering my overall score.

Issue with ANC --- NO FIX!!!!!!!

A few days before this past Christmas I moved from an Altima lease to a ’18 Accord EX lease. I ended up paying a little more than what I wanted but was happy with the vehicle features. Unfortunately, immediately (let me note that I accepted the vehicle with less than 10 miles on it) I began having an issue with the vehicle. At certain speeds (mainly the normal traveling speeds), there will be a consistent, high pitch feedback / vibration from the speakers. It is an unmanageable noise. When I raise the radio volume past a certain setting the noise will cease. If I have others in the car, this is a major nuisance as nobody can hear anyone else. I have had the car checked by one of your service technicians (who had been helpful to date) and was notified that this is an issue with the Automatic Nosie Canceling (ANC) system. Most disappointingly, I was notified by the technician that this is a known issue with the ’18 Accords and that there is NO KNOWN FIX. And the issue apparently is worse in cold weather. I brought the vehicle back for a second repair as there was a procedure that he wanted to execute as recommended by engineering. Unfortunately, that procedure did nothing to remedy the situation. I was instructed that my only options at this point are to drive with an open window (as that disables the ANC) or unplug the ANC (but not know are the potential negative downstream implications). The service department also said, engineering at some point will have a fix and basically I just need to deal with it.

Location of Sensor on Grill of 2018 Accord Sport

The sensor that controls the Adaptive Cruise Control, and two other functions on the car is located 11 inches from the ground and is very exposed to road damage as I experienced with less than 620 miles and two and a half weeks of ownership. I contacted Honda Corporate Customer Service who said because it was damage it was not covered under the warranty. I explained to them I think it is a design problem since no other vehicle in the Honda line has located the sensor for this system so close to the ground and is so large. In looking at other vehicles in the Honda product line, these sensors are much higher up and are much smaller than on the 2018/2019 Honda Accords. Since the Acura TLX is basically an upscale version of the Honda Accord, I measured the distance from the ground to the bottom of the sensor and it is 9+ inches higher and is less than 23% the area. I also looked as other manufacturers comparable vehicles and I cannot find anything on the front of their vehicles so exposed as the one on the Honda Accord. The reason I am so upset about this, is Honda is hiding behind the warranty and will not admit that it is a poor location of this critical feature of the car. Since this is my 9th Honda, including five Accords, this was very disappointing to me. I would recommend anyone considering purchasing a 2018 or 2019 Accord to be aware that these sensors are very subject to being damaged easily. I was driving down an interstate highway at night when orange colored warning messages started to appear in the middle of my tach indicating the Adaptive Cruise Control was malfunctioning along with two other warnings. I had no idea something had struck this sensor until I took it into a local Honda dealer and they sent me photos of the damage. I was baffled as to how something could be damaged, as the sensor was, without me hearing or feeling something hitting it. Again, I am very disappointed with Honda's response, which was basically not their problem.

Great Vehicle, but.....

I've had the car for 3 months and put 3k miles on it. I have the 2.0 Touring with the turbo. Overall, I'm very pleased with it, but there are a few quirks I don't like. I've discovered that it is difficult/impossible to determine how close you are to a parking curb or sidewalk on the front end. You can't gauge where your front end is by looking out the windshield and over the hood. The car has sensors that detect objects to the right or left, but none that tell you how close a concrete bumper/sidewalk is to the front bumper. The front bumper sits fairly low to the ground which means it's threatened every time you try to park. Why not put a sensor to protect the middle of the bumper? To compound the problem, if you are on any kind of an incline, up or down, the gear shift becomes problematic. Let's say your bumper is two inches from a concrete bumper and you're on a slight decline. When you put the gear shift into reverse, the car will drift forward up to 6 inches before reverse actually catches hold. Result? Your front bumper gets scraped. I've never had a car before that has so much drift when changing gears. Another problem pertains to the wheels. I believe my wheels are 20". There is very little distance between the rim and the ground as the tires provide only about a 2" buffer. This becomes a problem when you get near a curb as there is very little protection for the rim. As a consequence, if you scrape a curb the rim takes the impact, not the tire. This really makes a mess of your beautiful rims. Check it out when you're in a parking lot: Honda rims will be much more scuffed than others. OK, all that said, I'm still glad I own the vehicle and am very pleased with the quality, performance and mileage. (I recently drove it from PHX to LA and got 36 mpg at 75 mph.) Would I buy it again? You bet. Do I hope they make some improvements before I buy my next one? You bet!

Recently I have been changing cars very often, I believe because I was looking for a car that had everything that I wanted both outside and in. So after 2 Honda's 1 Bavarian Manure Wagon (BMW), 1 Nissan and 3 Acura's Ive found a winner and thank God (said my local bank). I first saw the 2018 Accord in a dealership near my residence and after sitting in it and taking in the AMAZING interior i was sold before I even drove it. The normal "about business" interior had given way to a clean, simple, contemporary interior that reminded me of my friends last generation Mercedes S550. The seats are extremely comfortable, and rear seat room make you feel like you have the stretched out 7 series LI. All that interior space would lead you to believe that the trunk suffered a significant downsize, but the thing is cavernous. All of the TECH features are very easy to use, and the return of actual buttons on the infotainment screen is a welcome retreat to the "old school" as you don't need to focus on your aim when you want to change screens. Outside the car has great lines and is visually pleasing, the wheels are well designed and give the car the appearance of going fast while standing still. There is one minor gripe, the spacing on the hood is a little off between the front fascia but nothing that cant be tweaked at my 1st oil change. Over all this is the most satisfying vehicle purchase to date, I normally start driving a car and looking for a reason not to like it. With this car I cant find anything... and is one of the first cars that after driving it for over a month I still get excited when I have to venture out. Do yourself a favor and get one, and you would be hard pressed to find more car for the price and any trim level.

After owning a 2013, 2014 and 2016 Accord I was excited about the new generation. The first thing that stood out when I sat in the vehicle is improved his visibility. The dash is low and the pillars are thin giving you terrific visibility. Navigation and heads up display are now properly placed (high) on dash. I was a little troubled initially because there was no full-time tachometer visible on the display. The factory ships this in the off position. It can be turned on full-time in settings and all of your other information is displayed in the center of the tach (looks great). There is a lot of discussion regarding the 1.5 L turbo. I have always bought the four-cylinder in the past for gas mileage. I keep the vehicle in eco-mode and have not noticed a difference in power with this engine versus the previous 2.4 L Others have mentioned engine noise but it is not noticeable in the touring model due to the acoustic glass on the front and sides. With break in complete, MPG seems to be slightly less than my previous models. On all highway trips I can average 37 to 39 tops depending on the top speed. With speed limits of 70-75 mph, MPG often drops into the 36 miles per gallon range. Previous models could reach 40MPG or slightly above.

I purchased the 1.5 touring accord at the end of November. When I test drove it the weather was cool so I didn’t really head any rattling noise coming from the HUD area. But now that I have driven it for a month with hot/cold weather daily the rattling noise is really annoying. I took it in to the dealer about 4 times each time they said they heard the noise but couldn’t locate it even after I told them where I think it’s coming from. They finally was able to reduce the rattling noise by putting in some noise insulation foam. I called Honda customer service to complain and they said the same thing. That I should just keep taking it in for repair. For this much money I’m spending I shouldn’t need to especially when I barely hit 2k miles.

Infotainment system troublesome

The tablet style touch screen has been hit and miss. It shuts down unexpectedly, the rear camera guidance doesn't always work, you get strange error messages, it slams the brakes when there's nothing in front of you, the adaptive cruise control doesn't work, and Apple CarPlay doesn't recognize your stored contacts. I took it in for service and was told that Honda was aware of these problems and said it was a software issue that they still haven't found a solution for. The service manager said that they will probably extend the warranty since they can't find a solution. That and other minor problems, like weather stripping coming loose from the doors. I am really disappointed with my purchase. DON'T buy this car. Just don't!

Other than the exceedingly annoying squeaking noise coming from the HUD area it is a great car. Honda says they are aware of the problem but can't say when they will have a fix. While this problem probably does not affect all Accords, I would not buy till they have a fix. Update: The National Honda people while polite were not concerned about the problem. My local dealership was useless, as well, in trying to solve the problem. Eight months later I finally found a dealership in Charlotte, NC who would help. It has been six months since the repair and it seems to be working.

This car is great, expect for the noise vibration around 1800 RPMs. Don't buy this car unless you can tolerate the noise vibrations day in and day out. You will also need to tolerate multiple trips to the dealer to fix.

AWESOME! 2.0T Touring

I have to chime in about my 18 Accord, as I have the 2.0T Touring trim. Everything about this car I absolutely love, from its performance all the way to its design, ride, and interior electronics! Bought mine in January and now it has 2267 miles as of today, 70% oil life according to Hondalink. Really don't think you can go wrong with any trim levels, the amount of standard tech that is included in this car just elevates it to another class. The interfaces are all designed well and intuitive in my use. Coming from a compact class with a 6 speed manual, I can't say enough good things about the 2.0T and the 10 speed transmission. Driven manuals all my life, and this is the first time I've actually enjoyed driving an auto so much. I really recommend this engine and its transmission pairing, I did not even consider the 1.5T and the CVT. Power delivery is amazing, and the car is deceptively fast. The programming is excellent, in normal mode, it'll even smoothly let you do engine braking (6th to 4th, and lower depending on speed, double tapped on paddles) to slow the car down with satisfactory rev matched down shifts. The engine will actually hold the gear even in normal mode for a while, until you start cruising, as the manual mode will revert back to full automatic. That was the main selling point for me, as I think Honda made a winner with the transmission/engine and I wanted a seamless experience with the adaptive cruise control, which is amazing. I forgo the option of the 2.0T paired with a true 6 speed manual transmission in the Sport model, as the Sport model didn't have all the other features I wanted, plus the adaptive cruise would not have been as seamless. With the 10 speed automatic, the sport mode makes the car take on a completely different character with a true manual mode and the programming is even better. The adaptive suspension is awesome as well with the different modes. I have had no problems with the car, mine is still very solid. Refinement in the Accord for the Touring trim is excellent, as I enjoy the quietness, and all the materials that you come into contact with. Honda did an excellent job of mimicking wood inlays, as it is completely artificial, but it classy and does not give off the 'plastic wood' aesthetic found in other manufacturers, which I completely have a distaste for. The HUD display, full LED headlights, and the adaptive suspension, are my favorite features. Only thing that was a minor annoyance was this ticking sound coming from inside the passenger B-pillar, so I found the source and fixed that. Other than that, my hood, dash, overall fit & finish, are excellent, with no other squeaks or rattles. The electronics have been very reliable for me with no gremlins on a day to day use. I may have had the headunit glitch up and restart itself only like two times since owning the car. The Touring trim reminds me of driving a much more expensive car with its adaptive suspension without the luxury badge which is exactly what I wanted, and I've even debadged mine for that super clean look in the rear and for ease in weekly detailing. Handling for this car is excellent as well given how large this car is. To me, it drives like a smaller car. However the turning radius and sound system could be better, but given all the other attributes of the car, I really can't complain! I initially hated the rear end of the car too, but it's actually growing on me with its design. At night by the way it's lit, it's reminiscent of a 3/5 series from the rear. But it doesn't matter as most of the time I'll be on the inside enjoying all the interior aesthetics and performance of the car. I love the aggressive front and especially the side profile which screams Audi. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the trim levels, but the Touring trim really puts the Accord above it's class into the luxury territory without the badge.

From a BMW to a 2018 Accord Touring Sedan

I traded in my 2016 BMW 330i for a 2018 Accord Touring Sedan and I could not be happier. I am not a fan of Honda's but after reading several review and watching YouTube videos I decided to take a test drive. First and foremost the look is amazing. Looks very similar to an Audi A7. The fastback style it easy on the eyes with the 19-inch wheels and has perfect lines and detail. The interior competes with many luxury cars as the leather and seat comfort is fantastic for long drives. The aesthetics on the console and steering wheel compliment the vehicles upscale interior. The Navigation is average as the Accord utilizes Garmin for services and lacks many custom options you would find on other brands. Boot up time on the Navigation head unit is also a bit slow. The ride on the other hand is amazing. Nice and smooth even with the larger wheels and performance tires. The car comes with Sport and Eco mode options and Eco mode is a serious disaster. It dumbs the car down to something my Grandma would drive. The Sport mode thought is fantastic. You can really see the performance of the 1.5 turbo engine. This is a mode I will never change as it opens up the cars performance. A couple of features I miss are the electronic adjust steering wheel and side mirrors. You need to use your hands to make the adjustments and can be a bit of a pain. The Honda Sensing features are great bit also a but overreactive. I have had by Lane Watch warning go off when a car pulled up to me at a stop light. a bit annoying. Overall. I am glad I purchased this car and would recommend to anyone that is looking for a solid sedan.

Rattle Trap

My 2018 Honda Accord EX-L has rattles from the dash and from the rear. Two dealer visits no solution. I rarely drive with any music playing so these noises are extremely aggravating. I regret purchasing this car. I really can't say I enjoy the time I spend in this car. ++ Two years later... no resolution to the noises. +++ Three 1/2 years later. Still have the car, but don't drive it. Partner drives it and always plays loud music so isn't bothered by the noises.

As I look over other reviews I am seeing a pattern. This is my first Honda product and I have to say I am not impressed. I thought for the price the technology packed in my Accord 1.5 Touring CVT was a value. I was mistaken. I have owned it for 5 months and it has been in the shop 5 times for a variety of issues starting with rattles to more serious issues. The latest is a message stating “braking system problem”. I have noticed other owners having the rattling issues and I have gotten the same response from Honda as they got. Take it back in and get it fixed. I also have had problems with the infotainment system not initializing for up to 5 minutes. I have requested a lemon law case be opened to replace the car because the dealership has put 300 miles on the car test driving it and it still isn’t fixed. Now that I see the same issues in other cars I cannot recommend the 2018 Honda Accord until these issues are worked out. I would give it a year for Honda to take action before purchasing one.

Was really excited about this car when I got it. I shopped around for a couple weeks, and drove several competitors including the Camry, Malibu, Maxima, Legacy, Optima, and Sonata. Decided to go with the Accord because I had a 2014 and loved it. It was the most well built car I've owned. No rattles, ran great, no issues. The 2018 Accord rides great, looks great, and has all the technology I want. The unfortunate part, is the fit/finish is poor on the inside. There is a HORRIBLE rattle in the heads up display area and also on the back deck under the back windshield. The dealer is aware of these issues as is Honda Of America, but I've taken my car in 4 times now to try and get this issue resolved. Hopefully they get it fixed, but there are a lot of touring owners having the exact same issue. Which begs to question, why didn't this come up with Honda when testing the car? What will go wrong next? I hate to say it, but I'm likely going to trade this one in for something else. I hope they get these issues resolved, but it's been a big inconvenience and kept me from enjoying an otherwise good car.

I have only 200 miles on my new Honda and am delighted with the overall performance, looks, and safety. However, I don't think I will be taking it on long trips because the front seats are very uncomfortable after sitting in them for over 15 minutes. I wish I would have test driven the car for more than 10 minutes. I hope Honda is looking to address this problem.

We've mostly owned Hondas since 1986, this is the ninth in the family, including an '86 Integra, a '91 Legend, an '01 Odyssey, an '01 S2000, an '01 Civic, an '05 S2000, an '05 TSX, and an '06 Odyssey. So my comparison is mostly with previous Acura sedans, particularly the Legend and the TSX. The Legend focused on comfort, the TSX was much more sporty. I really enjoyed driving that car, but gave it over to my daughter when I started working outside of California. Now with an Odyssey and an S2000, we decided we needed a more conventional vehicle. I had been reading all I could find about the Kia Stinger and the upcoming Genesis G70, and was thinking I might buy one of those. But after reading the over-the-top reviews of the new Accord I tried driving one--first the 1.5 Touring with CVT. It was OK, rather pleasant but I wasn't terribly happy with the CVT. I got a referral from Costco to a dealer, and was able to negotiate a price quite a bit below that (probably because the new Accords aren't selling all that well). I drove the Touring 2.0, and as promised by the dealer it was like driving a completely different car. The 2.0 with the 10-speed automatic has very serious power, excellent steering, and as far as I can tell so far on regular road it has excellent handling. Altogether sporty like the TSX, but with the comfort, and even more room, than the Legend. Add in all the latest tech gadgets--a bonus, but quite a bonus!--and you have a luxury sedan that is a great pleasure to drive, as promised by C&D, Automobile Mag, etc. Frankly, after looking at and driving the Accord I didn't even stop at the Kia dealers. The Accord may be a family sedan rather than a "gran turismo", but it feels grand to me. I guess it's also a safer bet than the Stinger or G70, and my wife is certainly happier with my buying an Accord. I expect to keep it for 10 years or so. The one negative so far is that gas mileage is not as good as expected--25 mpg mixed driving around the city and freeway. I could afford a German sports sedan, Lexus, etc., but prefer to have a reliable rather than a showy car. Some think the new Accord unattractive, but I am quite taken with its looks, and increasingly so the more I look back at it as I walk away.

Went from a 2016 Accord Sport to the 2018 Accord Sport and what a difference. The 2018 is a huge upgrade in both quality and looks. The interior is top notch and well crafted. The exterior, ride and performance is also a big upgrade. Could not be happier.

I'm a Total Honda / Acura buyer / driver for the last 28 years. I recently traded my 2017 LX 6-speed 2.4 Accord for the 2018 2.0 6-speed Accord. Both are Great Cars, a very big difference in the 2018 in performance as the 2.0 Type-R Turbo version for the 2018 Accord was a Great decision that Honda made. The 2.0 is very responsive and pulls very strong. The horsepower and Torque combo is mated perfectly. I'm an MPG person and this 2.0 is delivering a consistent 33 to 35 MPG on my commute. The increased Torque on this 2.0 allows the car to drive effortlessly with light throttle. The trunk space is amazingly large, my hard sided Golf Bag Travel Case fit in the trunk, I could not believe it, and it's a large case. The 2.0 should be called the Accord SI. I highly recommend the 2.0 if you are looking at the Accord's, it's well worth the extra $ and you'll be glad you did. I'm really loving my 2018 North American Car of the Year !! Accord 2.0 Sport 6-speed. This My 13th Honda / Acura Product, as this goes back to my 1991 CRX SI, 3 Acura RSX Type-S's / 3 Acura TL Type-S's / 1 TSX Acura / 3 Civic SI's / 1 previous Accord already mentioned. All with Manual Gear Boxes.

2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Touring model review: The exterior design is very appealing and looks like a European car. The car drives smoothly and the cabin is quiet, comparing to my 2014 Honda Accord LX. I was afraid the 19-inch wheel would make the ride harsh, not the case. If you turn on the Sports mode, yes you will feel more bumps on the road. Also more engine noise will get into the cabin. The Econ mode is great saving gas. I drive mostly on highways and can easily achieve 40+ MPG, at speed limit of 65 MPH. The ventilated and heated front seats are very nice as well as the back heated seats. Lots of room for the back seat passengers, much roomier than my 2014 Honda Accord LX. The new LED headlights are bright and easy to see the road at night. I do have some complaints about the interior design. Info Center: The information center is a huge improvement but still have some learning curve. Even for me as a tech-savvy engineer. When driving, I found myself constantly taking my eyes off the road to make sure I was selecting the right icon. Navigation: The built-in navigation is not as good as Google Maps. Honda Sensing: Honda Sensing can be over sensitive if you are sitting in traffic. Quite frequently the sensors are beeping alerting me object approaching from front left and right while everyone was stopping in traffic. This can be very distracting. I think it’s interference from parking sensors of other cars causing the beeping sound. Rain Sensing Wiper: The speed of the wipers sometimes is not in sync with the amount of rain on the windshield. For your safety, I suggest you using the manual setting. Shift Lever: I have the 1.5T Touring model, unlike the 2.0T Touring that doesn’t have a shift lever. My shift lever is too tall and constantly in the way when I tried to adjust A/C, fan speed and defogger button. Driver Seat: Comparing to my 2014 Honda Accord LX, the driver seat in the 2018 model doesn’t seem comfortable. It feels the seat is a bit shorter than the 2014 model. And it lacks support underneath my thigh. I wish the seat cushion can be extended forward like the BMW. The normal position of the seat is lower than my 2014 Accord, but you can use the power seat to make adjustments. My right knee is also frequently hitting the center console, so I had to adjust my seats to avoid that. Squeaky Sound from HUD Unit: On a warm day or after parking the car under the sun, I noticed an annoying squeaking sound from the HUD unit. After searching online, it appears to be a common problem among Touring trim owners. It sounds like styrofoam rubbing against each other. This has been my #1 complaint of this car. I just have to turn up the radio to cover the annoying sound.

Only have 1200 miles on car have only had it for a month and half and have already had a multiple of issues with it. 1. Check engine light is stuck on. 2. Dash lights will flash a green color and then go away and come back. 3. Passenger side tail/brake light assembly is full of water. 4. Trim around drivers side rear window is coming off etc. Very disappointed as always heard Honda Accords were great cars and car had been a disaster.

[I have about 500 miles on the car, with initial impressions. My survey responses are meaningless because the Poor-OK-Great scale lacks granularity, and some categories, like reliability, will take years to assess.] After months of very careful research, I bought the new Accord to finally replace my aging BMW 328i. I wanted something equally nice but more reliable long-term. I chose the top trim (Touring) and engine (2.0T) because that configuration had more tech features and better power, torque, and acceleration than my BMW. On the outside, the Accord's esthetics and finish are now more on par with those luxury brands than ever before, still without pretending to be one of those other brands. This, at a much better price point and value. The 2018 Accord looks upscale and fast, especially from the front and sides, although the outgoing 2017 model perhaps looked slightly nicer from the rear. The most notable exterior quirk is something other reviewers have noted, that the hood sheet metal flutters a bit at speed. Doubt this hurts anything, but could be corrected (some reviewers have speculated this is for pedestrian safety or to shave weight). The capless fuel filler is a nice idea - one less step and one less item to lose - but I actually did not mind having a threaded fuel cap on my former vehicles. The 19" wheels look better than the wheels on other trim levels, due to the larger size and lower-profile tires, and because the finish is almost entirely silver/aluminum rather than the black/silver 2-tone finish on other trims. The 19s may be harsher if compared side-by-side with 18s or 17s, but I have no complaints on bumps, vibrations, or road noise. The Michelin Primacy tires are really, really premium. I actually purchased road hazard warranty certificates from my tire store, as a hedge against potholes. I also purchased some affordable wheel locks as a theft deterrent, since Honda wheels seem to be extra popular with thieves. On the inside, the design and finish are also excellent. The overall impression of the interior is also more in the league of its European luxury rivals. The leather is a bit thinner and less abundant though than on my older BMW. There appears to be some vinyl trim interspersed, such as on the center hump of the rear seat. These details probably save cost and weight as part of the overall need to remain cost-competitive. The seats overall are quite comfortable and attractive, however. Softer to sit on than the BMW seats, yet supportive. The electric adjustments include height, leg tilt, and seat-back tilt. I wish the entire seat bottom tilted like on my BMW; instead, the butt remains flat while the front part where your legs rest can be raised or lowered. I like a slight upward tilt and a low overall seat position where my right knee rests against the soft-touch material just below the hard plastic center console. The 2.0T obviously has a different feel and throttle response than a naturally-aspirated V6. It is almost deceptively quiet and "tiny" sounding at steady speeds. But step on the gas in Sport mode and the car jumps to attention. In a situation where you want the extra power, like on hilly terrain or when simply merging into traffic or navigating a highway with changing speed limits, the Sport mode is fun and useful. However, I find myself using all 3 modes - econo, regular, and sport, depending on the circumstances. The econo mode is very smooth and sufficiently peppy when you are in no hurry. The overall ride quality of the car is like silk or glass, just buttery smooth. There are more tech features than I can review here. One feature I really wanted was wireless charging, although this does not seem to support "quick charge" and so charge times are longer than expected. Android Auto is a nice way to go hands-free, but I was surprised to learn it requires a USB cable (which sort of cuts against the utility of wireless). Heads Up Display is another neat feature that until recently was only on super-premium vehicles. Read more about the various features online or in the manual. It's like trying to learn a new smartphone. There are also a ton of safety features that require some self-study. These are nice but occasionally intrusive. For example, lane departure mitigation is great on long stretches of highway when fighting road fatigue; but it can be unnerving when it occasionally fights you on an intention decision to change lines. Likewise, the automatic braking is a nice backup, but I had one instance where it took over and braked harder than I wanted to, as I had plenty of cushion left in front of me and was more worried about the guy behind me not being able to stop. I changed that to the lowest setting, and I toggle on/off certain features for different situations. Overall, there is really nothing I dislike about the car, and my only hope is that it lives up to the Honda reputation and gets me 200k+ miles.

NOISE & Rattle is the only thing

Just like most reviews - there is definitely a rattling / noise that comes from the HUB accelerating then coasting at about 20-40 mph. After taking it to the dealership to get it addressed - it ended up being the heater box in the car. They did have to remove the dashboard, address the loose heater box, then add insulation. As of the now there are no other issues on the car. Super fun to drive in sport mode & if gas goes up has an eco mode as well!

I purchased a new 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T EX-L in January 2019 and have had nothing but trouble with this car. The radio will randomly turn off and restart. While repositioning the car in the garage, it will display a warning to put the car in park. The road departure mitigation/lane departure warning/shaking of the steering wheel will randomly activate when the car is centered on the lane while driving on both a two lane roads and highways. The brake assist/collision avoidance has randomly activated when there was nothing in front of the car on highways. The battery has had to be replaced two (2) times in less than 3 months from the date of purchase and this new car with 1,2XX miles on it had to be towed to the dealer. The lane keep assist system will randomly steer the car off the road when going by an off-ramp on highways. The speed limit display will provide incorrect speed limits of the road it is on, like 80 or 100 MPH in a 60 MPH highway. And the air conditioning system failed after 6 months of operation with less than 4,800 miles on the car (cracked condenser). The car has been in a Honda shop 5 times in eight months. Photos and video files of most of these issues have been provided to the original Honda dealer, American Honda Motors Service representative and a second Honda dealer, and the only issue fixed so far is the air conditioner condenser. They state that the issues could not be duplicated and the system did not record an "error code", so they will not do any repair or replacement of components even though they had video/photo files of the issues. I am now pursuing Lemon Law Arbitration on this car. I finally gave up and trade-in the car. Honda did not help with this.

2018 Accord Sport - First 1300 Miles

After my wife's 1998 MB e320 4-matic dropped a driveshaft (got it repaired) and threw four check engine codes and one catalytic converter code, we knew it was finally time to retire the old gal. We limped the MB into our local Honda dealer the Saturday after Black Friday, and purchased a 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Sport. I had been researching them for awhile, and had even test drove one while in a different city, and knew that it was the car I wanted. I've had it now for about a month, and have to say that overall it's a great car. Highlights: Honda Sensing is awesome!. Honda has really made the sensing package intuitive and easy to use. Climate Control works well. Integration of Display Audio with the Tachometer screen is very cool. While using Android Auto and Google Maps, the Tachometer will switch to navigation directional arrows with distance to turn about 1/2 mile before you are supposed to turn. You can also have the tach screen display Audio Information, MPG / Range, Maintenance Info, and some other things. Front seats are pretty supportive and comfortable. I drove it on an 8 hour road trip, and found them to be quite comfortable, and i'm a pretty big guy. Headlights and fog lights work great, and illuminate the night nicely. I even like the Auto high beams, while I've heard that others just turn them off. Wind noise is non-existent Low lights: 19" low profile tires have quite a bit of road noise, and make the ride harsh (understandable for 19" low Profile tires). I needed to get winter tires anyway, so I took off the 19's and replaced them with 17" wheels and tires from discount tire, and now the ride is much nicer, and even though they are Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires, the ride is quieter. Display Audio has been a problem. I purchased the Sport model over the LX primarily for the Android Auto integration. I was disappointed when driving home from the dealership, the Display Audio System (Android based system) crashed and rebooted itself even without my phone connected to it. Connecting through Android Auto caused more crashes of Display Audio. It was a given, that within the first 5 minutes of driving, that the Display Audio was going to reboot itself. Sometimes it crashed so hard that I had to restart the car to get it to reboot. I tried doing a Factory Data reset of the Display Audio, but it didn't stop the system from doing continuous reboots. Now, a month later, and the Display Audio hasn't crashed for over a week. I'm not sure if Honda covertly pushed a software update to my car since I had it connect to my home WiFi whenever it was parked at my home, and i did open a ticket with Honda support. Anyway, the system has now magically healed itself which I find strange, as being an IT guy for the past 30 years, I know that software doesn't heal itself. However, Display Audio is working now, and the Android Auto integration is great. One last low light is the road noise. It's more than i would like, but will say that since I got rid of the 19" tires, the road noise has improved. Overall, probably the best car I've owned.

It's been 15 years since I bought a new car, but my trusty Camry finally bit the dust with 150K miles. After searching far and wide and test driving many new cars, I elected to but a Honda Accord EX-L. Wow! Have times changed! The new technology is breathtaking. Rides like a top with over 37MPG. Couldn't be happier when listening to the Beach Boys on the Sirius XM channel. All told, I'm looking forward to the next 15 years... It's been seven months now and I have yet to be disappointed. I just had the oil changed at 7,000 miles. Good service just down the road from my place. This spring, I'll be working to get blue tooth up, cell phone synchronized and navigation working. Lots to do...but I'm enjoying it!

Luxury car for great price with FLAWS

Overall, the car is loaded with features and value.. from the led lights, Apple car play, navigation,heated front and rear seats, hud display, auto dimming mirror, homelink, adaptive dampers, etc.. its a great value and cvt transmission is very smooth. the 1.5 turbo is the way to go in my mind especially if you do a good amount of city driving. Plenty quick. The vehicle does sit low but thats to be expected especially coming from an SUV as i have. The 19 inch tires with Michelin look great. And are actually somewhat smooth and quiet for being so big. Side and front profile of car is where car shines in my mind. Rear is average to below average. I'm adding rear deck spoiler which I think improves appearance a lot from rear. Seats are super comfortable. Almost 40 mpg on highway. Real city mpg is around 24ish. Now for my issues which are unnacceptable in my mind when buyin a car with an msrp of 35k. The heads up display makes noise during the day im assuming from the sun heating it up.. Almost like styrophom rubbing together. It comes and goes but needs to be fixed asap. The dealership told me the engineers are working on permanent fix and to be patient. Also, rear deck noise from PREMIUM sound system.. that is insane to label a sound system premium and have the rear deck rattle during any song with real bass. Again, another issue the dealership kinda brushed off. Overall, honda made a value packed great car with quite a few fatal flaws. The issues I mentioned can not exist in a brand new car. This is not what new car buyers buy new cars. We expect them to be perfect when brand new. Otherwise, we would buy a 5000 used car and save boatloads of money.. my previous 3 cars were Toyota and Lexus and never had an issue like this.. and while toyotas can get boring to drive, there is a lot of value in their quality and lack of issues. I always considered honda and Toyota to be tied for the best.. not anymore. Very disappointed in honda. And the dealership. However, I'll make another post about that

My First Automatic Honda

So far I am very pleased with this car! I have previously owned 2 Accord V6’s with 6-speed manuals and this is my first with an automatic. I’m very pleased with the shifting. It’s an overall seamless experience. The torque of the 2.0 engine is very strong down low and all the way to the redline. I absolutely love the interior appointments in this car. You will feel as if you spent much more money. Honda now offers many more standard features on lower trims and the Sport 2.0T is very well equipped for the price. I would recommend this car for anyone! Way to go Honda!!

I purchased a 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T Touring model with 4,000 miles on the odometer. The car’s interior is very nice. I had a Audi before it and the materials are quite comparable. The 2.0T engine pulls very well and the transmission is very good. The amount of technology you get is amazing. HUD, adaptive cruise, navigation, Apple car play, heated and cooled seats, and much more. I loved the comfort of the interior and it drove very well. The bad news is that a week after I bought it, warning lights began flashing all over the car, saying that all my safety suite “Honda sense” was down and I needed to go to a dealer. After three resets of the computer, they finally bought the car back from me. I was disappointed. I bought a Honda because it was supposed to be sensible. I bought a 2016 BMW 3 series instead and I actually miss the Accord. It was a very good car, but I don’t want to have reliability problems again.

My last three cars have been premium German sedans: a 2009 BMW 335d (a screaming fast diesel model), a 2014 Audi A6 TDI, and a 2016 Audi A7. The Accord, which we purchased at about a year old with fewer than 3,000 miles, packs an extraordinary amount of power into a spacious, technology-laden package. The 10-speed automatic transmission, as one would expect, can find itself having to downshift through several gears at a time if one punches the accelerator suddenly. The downshift and momentary turbo lag make the results from a stomp of the right foot less than instantaneous. However, after that slight hesitation, the power output is stunning. So much so that the car is really traction limited by its tires and front-drive-only platform. From a stop, the front wheels will chirp, and traction control will intervene. It's a shame all-wheel-drive isn't an option, as the power output is now so high that two driven wheels seems inadequate. Compared to my similarly sized Audi A7, the Accord weights fully 1,000 pounds less, while covering 0 to 60 in a virtually identical time and while offering nearly all of the high-tech amenities and active safety features. The trunk is enormous, although the fastback profile means the trunk lid is quite small. Rear seat legroom is cavernous. The interior looks high class, but clearly not at Audi levels. The excellent looking faux wood trim is clearly identified as plastic when touched. The soft-touch uppermost portion of the front door trim is matched in color and texture on the back doors--except with much cheaper feeling hard plastic. This is 85% as much fun and luxury as my Audi A7, and about even in comfort and functionality, even though the sticker price of the A7 was more than double the new sticker price of the highest trim level 2018 Accord. It's a truly extraordinary amount of car for the money. Gripes include the infotainment not being as easy to use or as exciting as I had hoped. Also, a heated steering wheel (even on cars with heated and cooled seats) was available only as a dealer installed option, and mine doesn't have that feature that I would have expected to be standard at this trim level. The audio system is super-clear, but bass seems lacking at modest volumes, despite the presence of at least one subwoofer and decent bass at higher volumes--so likely more of a programming oversight than inadquate audio hardware.

Worst car ever

Owned this car for three months. After two weeks, took to dealer because the cooling fan in the front seat was rattling. They had to remove the leather cover, found the fan was broken, fixed it, and replaced the factory seat cover with a slip-on cover. It is wrinkled and looks terrible. Told me it would smooth out -- still wrinkled several months later. Have had this car in the shop EIGHT (total of 25 days!) times in the last three months with sensor problems, back-up camera problems, door lock problems and windshield wiper problems. The ONLY thing they have fixed is the cooling fan in the seat. Keep telling me they can't find out why the brake slams on by itself or the lane departure function is pulling me OUT of my lane instead of keeping me in my lane -- very unsafe. Every single day I drive this car, bells and lights are flashing for no reason. The service department guy actually told me that a bug or leaf could set the sensors off. Really? My husband has a CRV and has no problems whatsoever. Even he drove my car and complained about the same problems. What is up with Honda not being able to fix anything? Neither my husband nor I will EVER buy a Honda again.

We purchased a 2018 Touring. Not long after we purchased the car, we heard a strange noise in the dash. As of 04/2018, the dealership has had the car more than we have. The noise sounds like styrofoam rubbing together or popcorn popping. The dealership cannot figure out how to fix it. They had the car most of March and have it again. This is the 4th time since January, we have had to take the car in. It's not just a little noise either. It is super loud. I'm at my wit's end. At this point I just want to give the car back. Spoke to the service manager who did state if they can't fix the problem, we could possible swap the car for another but honestly I just don't want another Accord. The Civic is too small, the HR-V is too ugly and the Pilot is too expensive. We've had Hondas in the past and loved them. I am so disappointed with the 2018 Accord.

I researched everything before buying the Accord. Audi, BMW, Lexus, Toyota, Mazda, Nissa, Hyundai, you name it. After months of researching and test driving, I purchased a 2018 Accord Touring. Let’s talk about asthetics: The Platinum White with the black tires, badging, and underbody spoiler gives this car an aggressive look that turns a lot of heads. The look of the new model has really grown on me. At first, I didn’t know what to think, but it’s kind of like a new album from a band you love that has a different sound...sometimes you just have to listen to it for awhile before you can fully appreciate it. It’s not uncommon for people to mistake this car for an Audi. Getting into your Accord feels like getting into a spaceship. The back seats can fit your friend who is 6’4” no problem. The interior is well-designed and beautiful to look at. It is simple and elegant. The full digital readout and infotainment screen greet you when you turn on the vehicle - and I know you’re thinking the engine can’t sound good because it’s a 4 cylinder, but you’re wrong. There is a throaty growl when you turn on the car and even more so when you are in sport mode and testing the acceleration. The 10speed automatic shifts like a a dream and there are not many cars (if any) in the sedan class that can beat this Accord off the line. The heads up display and adaptive cruise control make driving less work - and the car can almost steer itself if you turn on the lane keep control. I bought this car with all the bells and whistles - if you could add it on, I did. Door sill illumination, puddle lights, spoilers, etc. All things that are completely unnecessary and this reflected in the bottom line I paid.l, but I’m 29, so having a car that you could easily put a family in is important to me, but when I’m driving by myself I want something fun and sporty to drive. I have about 14,000 miles into it at this point. I’m sure that some bugs/issues will come up at some point, but knowing Honda we will get them resolved. I highly reccomend this vehicle. The combination of comfort, speed, practicality, gas mileage, and asthetics should put this car high on your list.

EXCELLENT! My wife has alternated between Honda Accords & BMW 3 series for the last 5 cars. As a retired Master Porsche Tech, her 2018 Touring 2.0T/10spd is a great compromise between both Honda Accord & BMW 3 series. Is a little lower then her 2002 Accord ex V6, but is quicker & much more responsive. Lots of space inside. Cooling seats are great. Like the Navi system. Like sport mode, quicker steering, faster downshifts, firmer suspension. Front camera with windshield blackout are a little vision restricting. My wife loves it - life is good!

It has been one year since I purchased my Honda Accord 2.0 Touring. The car continues to be performing up to expectations as to ride and handling. What is slightly disappointing is the gas mileage. My 2013 six cylinder Accord got about the same mileage and at times on the highway was better. Other then that I have not found any surprises. I would advise that the lower profile does make exit and entry more difficult. This is something I knew and is far from a deal breaker. My wife and I are very satisfied with our Accord and would recommend it .

Quiet as an Audi A6 - half the price!

When I took delivery of my new Accord on 12.31.2017, I was impressed by the car overall. As I drove the car more and more, I fell in love. It is as quiet as an Audi A6 (I know because I have one), features more technology for half the price! Aside from the driver and front passenger seating positions not being height adjustable to the point they should be (or a door sill that sits way too high to rest my elbow on comfortably) the new Accord is a pleasure. Take the Honda badges off this car and set it next to a new Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura and your would be hard pressed to tell them apart. Technology in the vehicle is fairly intuitive and a pretty quick and easy to learn for anyone moderately tech saavy. If you spend the extra money for the AT&T wifi connection, just know it doesn't allow the apps such as Pandora, iheart, etc. to operate standalone. You still have to have a phone connected for these to work. Only benefit per Honda tech support is stronger Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers using ipads, laptops, etc. 1.5l turbo engine is a lot of fun once you get into the powerband but turbo lag is evident when you start from a stop off or accelerate hard to pass. Fuel economy of this engine makes up for a lot of it's shortcomings. Averaging just under 30 mpg in stop and go city traffic, almost 40 on freeway cruises. Pesky rattle developed at around 800 miles on odometer in right front door, dash, pillar area and it has eluded the technicians at the dealership. Not horrible but annoying and not what I would expect from a Honda, much less a Honda in a Tuxedo (touring trim). As a current Audi owner and having previously owned models from Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Jaguar, and Lincoln, I must say I am very impressed with the "bang for the buck" in this Accord. Maybe in the future Honda would consider upping the basic factory warranty to world class status as well. Each of the marques I just mentioned provide 4 year/50000 mile basic warranty. Since the 2018 Accord is the most sophisticated Accord ever built, Honda should expect to attract crossover buyers and lessees from the marques I mentioned previously and then some. This car is a winner, would only trade it for an Accord Hybrid Touring. Better fuel economy and more horsepower without the turbo lag, the hybrid wasn't available when I bought this one.
