2018 Honda Accord 2.0

Miles, 02/28/2018
2018 Honda Accord EX-L 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 10A)
1 of 1 people found this review helpful

Make sure you test drive the car to see how it fits you. The seats are comfortable but not for a very long drive. A little low to the ground hard to get in and out. The performance of the 10 speed automatic with the 2.0L turbo is fantastic and gas mileage is amazing. The radio angle could use some adjustability and it’s a little far from the driving position but the steering wheel controls are helpful. The heated seats are nice and the remote start is nice but the range could be a little better and not knowing if the car actually started unless your within eyesight is a bit of a pain. Overall if I had to buy the car again I would but I would opt for the same motor and transmission combo with a few extras such as he parking sensors and the heated steering wheel. Definitely a car to consider if you want performance and comfort for a daily driver though.

As soon as I sat in this car, I loved it. Luckily the road test affirmed my feelings. This is a home run for Honda. Theres nothing I dont like about it (ok, usb ports in the rear would be nice). I look for excuses to drive my new car. Love it. * Update: 4 years later and I still love this car. Zero issues.

After owning this Honda Accord Sport (1.5 Turbo) for almost two years, this car is amazing. The ride and handling are excellent.. This little engine can really move when you need to... but on the highway, it got 42 MPG twice on a 300 mile trip (in Econ mode - kept it under 70MPH)… And it looks more expensive than it really is.. well done Honda. Only have 5300 miles on it. It is big.

Know what others paid for it before going to the dealer. Check out Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima too! Accord 2018 is really a sharp looking car. I love the technology like lane departure and auto high beams and blind spot, cross traffic, etc. I have the Touring and I love it so far.

Great car all around. Like any other car it has it flaws. 1.The ride is a little bumpy. Not a heavy car at all. 2. The radar sensor is located under the license plate and has no type of protection, rocks from the road can and will damage this sensor and it is very costly to replace.(very bad design)

I'd driven a BMW 328i for several years before buying a new 2018 Honda Accord. It's sporty looking. i'm lukewarm on the large look of the vehicle. It rides beautifully- doesn't hold the road quite as well as my BMW's but the difference is not bothersome. The interior of the car is wonderful- I love the look of the dashboard controls and the quality of the interior materials. The electronic controls are easy to operate. The sound system is terrific. Hopefully the myriad of electronic, computer-driven functions will be problem-free over the long term. If the car runs as well as it does now over the long-term and is not expensive to maintain, I'll be a happy man!

Overall I think this Accord is good--and I have had several. Good drive train considering it has a CVT. Pretty smooth driver and competent handler. Better road noise insulation than any previous Accord. What I would would wish for: Stronger seat heaters, a steering wheel that extends just a little more toward the driver, a voice to text feature, and Low Gear that is actually LOW for creeping down hills, blind spot indicator lights that are closer to the cabin. Other than that, the car is impressively efficient on a highway trip. I usually get 1-2 mpg higher than EPA. at around 40-41MPG at 70-75 MPH....I am a moderate driver. The lower seat position has taken some getting used to compared to previous cars. The Honda Sensing suite of features is very good--especially the adaptive cruise control which I use a lot.

This model comes with 2 engine choices - 2.0 turbo and a 1.5 turbo. I found that the 1.5 with the CVT transmission was more responsive with plenty of get-up-and-go and excellent mileage.

Great car, terrible seatbelts with kids

I love my 2018 Accord, until I have to put my 6 year old kid in the back seat. The problem is the seatbelts buckle. It sits almost flush with the seat, which means you cannot grab the buckle well to snap it in. I have back problems and have to enter the opposite side of the car to buckle her in. No problem in other cars but these are terrible. Also, the common seatbelt extenders don't work on Accord back seats. Just custom ordered a $30 extender I hope works. We also have a 2019 CR-V and it doesn't have this problem.

Great value. Love the side mirrors lighting my blind spot! I came from an Avalon so miss the leather but the white exterior and black interior look great. Only two weeks ago did I purchase my car but so far I love it. Our dealership was fabulous. no sales pressure and after 6 weeks of looking at vehicles i came back to Honda. Price and payments were the best. Sales person didn't have color I wanted but was able to find it. Thank you Edmunds for your input and knowledge i feel confident in my decision with the knowledge and tips you provided me with.

After several years of Toyota’s and Nissans I had no complaits and was happy! For a change I decided to try a 2013,Honda Accord LX! It was a great car! I did the normal maintenance. 60,000 miles later and 6 months ago I traded it in for my new 2018 Honda Accord Ex! I love this car ! The new style, comfort and the the way it drives! Incision my first and all time favorite car. I brought it for the first oil change to my honest mechanic! Not a dealer. He even commented “ that is one beautiful machine and I totally agree!!!

I bought the Sport trim 1.5 T with 6 speed manual because I missed the involvement of a manual. Thanks to Honda for still offering the manual. The clutch is incredibly soft and the shifter buttery smooth. It's so easy to drive. The 8 inch infotainment screen has high definition and brightness and looks even better than the BMW display on my wife's car. There is incredible rear legroom. Sitting behind myself, there's probably 9 inches of legroom. The trunk room is also very large at 16.7 cubic feet. Plenty of room for suitcases or golf bags. My car has the 19 inch wheels with the low profile tires 235/40, but I don't feel that the ride is harsh. It still feels comfortable. I have not driven on a long range highway trip, but I am still averaging 34 MPG in mostly city driving, even though the Sport trim 1.5 T 6M is rated for 26 city, 35 highway. On shorter highway trips, the trip computer was reporting 42 MPG. I usually accelerate very gradually, but if I have to give it the beans, the 1.5 T has plenty of power to get up to speed safely. The design of the interior cabin and the exterior will make you feel that you are in a luxury brand for a fraction of the cost. Update at 26 K miles: I still love the car as much as when it was new. I love the styling, especially the sporty wheels. The car has never let me down. The car is rated for 30 MPG overall, and I have gotten 37 MPG for the life of the car. Fantastic value.

The standard safety features really work well and can be adjusted to fit you driving preferences. Honda's most solid sedan to date. Smooth and nimble with plenty of power with the 1.5L turbo...and got 39 mpg on the first tankfull. I've leased the last 4 cars, but this time I bought it for the long run. The careful thought and integration of the cars multitude of technology really shows in its ease of use. Yet one never feels overwhelmed as many of the features work quietly in the background not needing any attention from the driver. Continues to get pretty good gas mileage, 42 hwy/ 35 mixed. I like to get it up to speed and then cruise after that. I take it easy so I can get good gas mileage, but when I need to punch it , the car has no problems launching itself and the handling continues to feel nice and tight. The only weird thing is my radio reboots itself at random once every couple of weeks. The dealer wants me to come in to "reset" everything, so when I get around to that I will go. The whole car still has a really solid feel. You can slam the doors and trunk and it has such a solid sound. I noticed the low beams are LED but the high beams are not. I'm ordering LEDs off Amazon for about $25/2 so that should help.

Average mileage on first tank is 28.5MPG. Positives include: alot of back seat legroom; body side molding sculpted which adds to the look; many controls on the steering wheel; "sports car" appearance; 17 inch rims look nice; smooth ride, terrific visability; buttons & knobs on center screen work great; blind spot mirrors; gray cloth on silver accord looks nice; family and neighbors love the car. Negatives: Lack of CD player-option; factory tires result in a lot of unwanted noise; lack of cooled seats availability on the EX model; seats not as comfortable as 2017 accord; no engine cover on 1.5 turbo engine. Consider additional warranty since this is a first year model with a lot of electronics which are expensive to fix.

I have owned Honda's since 1984 I could never buy any other car. This is based on riding in almost ever other car on the market. For the money if you took the purchased price and calculate the number of miles you can put on the car you would be surprised. For example I purchased a 2003 accord for 16000. I drove it for 148,000.thats 9.25 per mile. Also the only thing I did for maintenance was to change the oil very 5000 miles and replaced the brakes once This was a manual 4 speed trans so I used the shifting down for stopping which saved the brakes. I love my Honda's.

Body Design Flaws

The recessed headlights and wipes get packed in with snow and ice. Winter road slop messes the front camera up so it doesn't function until you clean it which is a regular task after every time road crews deposit road treatments. The silver decal on the front grill bubbles up. We had our silver decal replaced under warranty after 1 year. The black plastic piece on the upper post between the driver's side front and rear doors is glued on and has fallen off along the side of the road somewhere. It's low getting in and out. If you have any orthopedic issues, steer clear of this model. Too much road noise when windows up especially in rear seats. A lot of noise hums in from the trunk. Engine runs smoothly. We traded this car in for an F150. It's easier for us to get in & out of the truck.

First review. Comfort, quality, value. Minor complaint: a/c is not as effective as I thought it would be. The windshield radiates a lot of heat. June 2022. This is a very dependable car. I do mostly city driving. My Honda dealer’s service is very good. (Ourisman Honda-Bethesda, MD)

Our 9 month old 2018 Accord EX-L is an amazing car for the money. Very roomy, with great technology which is well thought-out, and it has a nice look. This has been a most satisfying purchase so far. And it handles a lot better on the road than a boring car like a Camry or Sonata. If i had to do it again, I might go for the Touring version, but that was roughly another $4K at the time for basically more insulation and a larger engine. But the mid-level EX-L gets better gas mileage and has decent power, and has virtually all the technology upgrades of the Touring. So is the best value. What's most impressive is that I got this much technology, comfort and performance for under $30K new.. And I say this as, no kidding, the owner of 5 different BMW 5 series cars over the past 20 years.. No more BMW's for us, as they are no longer even close to being worth the price difference (or the big difference in maintenance costs), since the Accord has caught up in so many big ways, mechanically, ergonomically and technologically, for half the money.

It’s great!!!! There were some features I wish this trim had, however the pros far outweigh the cons! You will not be disappointed with this car!!!! My previous car was a Honda, and I had it for 13 years, now I’m giving that one to my teenager, still runs great. I know this one will last just as long!

I owned a 2014 Accord and liked the car very much. After reading some of the new technologies in the 2018 I decided to take a look. I am glad I did. We bought the 2018 and have never been more delighted.

After 12000 miles almost everything is awesome. Great style of the redesign, comfort, handling, acceleration, and reliability. My only complaint are the two rattles. One at 1700 rpms in the front dash and one in the backseat area on older roads that aren’t smooth. This happens about 30% of the time. Very minor compared to all the other cars in its class or some in a higher class. Something anyone can live with because there is not a car out there that has some sort of issue. I’d rather it be a minor rattle than anything mechanical. Thumbs up to Honda!

First, the fuel economy, while good, is not as good as the EPA rating, which is 33 MPG overall for the standard 1.5 Liter Turbo engine. True I get 33-34 MPG overall with a light foot, and with a lot of use of the optional, disappointingly torque-less, "economy" mode which prevents the engine from downshifting. But my wife the driving enthusiast gets about 28 MPG in mixed driving in standard operating mode. Still decent, but hardly into modern Hybrid MPG territory. So the EPA ratings lie. But otherwise, this car has not disappointed in any way in 2,200 driving miles so far; and I think the rave reviews from both Edmunds and Car and Driver are 95% warranted. I say that because the car has excellent predictable steering and handling (much better handling than most in its class), is quite comfortable for its class, and has a lot of luxury touches in common with far more expensive cars; I have owned four 5 series pretty-loaded BMW's, for comparison. And I love the excellent engineering of the commonly used dashboard controls. All automatic climate temperatures for both driver and passenger side can be adjusted quickly by degree with a simple and responsive KNOB! That is so great compared to the difficult menu options required to adjust the temperature controls on most contemporary cars. Ditto for the basic entertainment/radio controls. Simple knobs for volume and tuning. Yet it has all of the Apple Play, etc, advanced features, updated technology you could reasonably ask for in a car that costs less than $30K with leather seats and a sunroof. Also, the advanced automated AI safety features seem to work well. Especially the lane guidance feature, which gives gentle nudges to help keep the car in your lane automatically, and the excellent adaptable cruise controls. Those are practical safety guardians on longer drives, or when you are tired.. Now, because of the good but not great fuel economy, I might go for the Hybrid version if I chose again; but that is due in part to my green orientation, not because of cost reasons. But otherwise, we are most satisfied with this comfortable, roomy, and seemingly very safe car, with very good, though not really sports sedan-caliber sure steering and handling, so far. 4 1/2 stars overall.

Honda has returned back to some of its basics from the early 80's where alot of innovation occurred. Compared the 2.0T Sport to a TLX and I came back to the Accord. The layout of the interior was very similar but materials are better in the TLX, it came down to overall value and newer tech and normally aspirated high compression vs turbo w/regular gas. Both cars are not sports cars but have safe spirited ability for the average drivers. I have owned an Integra I4 & V6 accords and while the V6 has more immediate response the 2.0T is very surprisingly pulling away when you least expect the low end power. The turbo 4 has a feel of lightness to it vs the v6 accord while making turns and its 10 speed transmission finds the right gear exiting a turn, something you'd have to time a pedal stab downshift with the V6. I'm not a fan of the push button transmission as you have to wait for the engagement...think having a shift lever is quicker to switch from P,R,D. The electronics behind the transmission make it far too gimmicky that you even have to setup Neutral for going thru a car wash...simplification needed. I have yet to try paddle shifting so i can't say how quick shifts happen. I have experienced minor shifting shudder with low speed upshift (2nd to 3rd?) but once you accelerate more briskly the upshifts seem silky smooth with the higher revs. A very similar feel with a manual shift trans with a low speed quick clutch let out. I have disliked touch screens in general to hunt for the right component and the new touch screen is alot better in this regard and better than the dual screen setup in our 16'Odyssey. The screen is up high where it should be so one does not take their eyes away too long off the road to even switch radio stations. Anyone who says you can memorize exact screen touch points is not really being truthful or being safe doing it while driving. I have not tried the Apple/Android play but do use the Bluetooth for music playback since I did not get CD player. The knobs have a cheap feel but happy there is a volume/tuning knob to find it w/a glance using it by feel being up high, little need to take eye off the road or hunt/read on the wheel for the small volume button. I have yet to try out all the features but have managed without hunting thru the manual. Handling and front view is as good as prior Honda's but gone is that disappearing hoodline to view all the road. The front seats height are a tad low and should be allowed to adjust higher as i noticed passenger seat seemed like it was in a hole since there is no height adjustment for passenger to get a better view over the dash. Seat seems a tad softer but nothing to complain about yet. I have longer legs than torso so need to push seat back and extend the telescoping steering wheel. The rear window is not as wide open as prior accords with the fastback styling but that's the sacrifice for this sporty styling which necessitates a need for a backup camera. Overall I think this is a right step to garner a more livelier styling and spirited drivetrain...I like this change even if its a family sedan...much needed in this car segment. I may keep it after the lease ends since that right pedal brings smiles.

Great car for the cost. Has a number of features which would be expected in an Acura level vehicle. Did note some cost savings in the rear seat area (lack of soft touch plastic trim & door lighting). Audio system is marginal at best.

This is an awesome car. With the 2.0T is is faster than a BMW 330. It has so many safety features it is incredible!! FAST & SAFE Was what i wanted. I traded in my red corvette which was great but I had it 20 ys--so the thrill was gone and was not my daily driver. The Touring 2.0T is now my daily driver :)

I have a 2018 Accord EX-L 1.5 engine. Bought it new. This car is comfortable, gets excellent gas mileage, has a huge trunk and rides very smoothly. My only minor complaints are that when the blue tooth switches from my phone to my wife's phone the system gets confused. Then it takes up to 5 minutes to connect the correct phone. This is a minor annoyance which wouldn't stop me from buying this car again. The other very minor complaint is that the gaps between the hood, trunk and fenders is a little wide. I suspect this is due to the 2018 being the first Accord of the current generation. I only have 15K miles on it now but so far there's been no problems. I think for $27000 this car is a great deal.
