Quiet as an Audi A6 - half the price!

Todd, 05/11/2018
2018 Honda Accord Touring 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
5 of 5 people found this review helpful

When I took delivery of my new Accord on 12.31.2017, I was impressed by the car overall. As I drove the car more and more, I fell in love. It is as quiet as an Audi A6 (I know because I have one), features more technology for half the price! Aside from the driver and front passenger seating positions not being height adjustable to the point they should be (or a door sill that sits way too high to rest my elbow on comfortably) the new Accord is a pleasure. Take the Honda badges off this car and set it next to a new Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura and your would be hard pressed to tell them apart. Technology in the vehicle is fairly intuitive and a pretty quick and easy to learn for anyone moderately tech saavy. If you spend the extra money for the AT&T wifi connection, just know it doesn't allow the apps such as Pandora, iheart, etc. to operate standalone. You still have to have a phone connected for these to work. Only benefit per Honda tech support is stronger Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers using ipads, laptops, etc. 1.5l turbo engine is a lot of fun once you get into the powerband but turbo lag is evident when you start from a stop off or accelerate hard to pass. Fuel economy of this engine makes up for a lot of it's shortcomings. Averaging just under 30 mpg in stop and go city traffic, almost 40 on freeway cruises. Pesky rattle developed at around 800 miles on odometer in right front door, dash, pillar area and it has eluded the technicians at the dealership. Not horrible but annoying and not what I would expect from a Honda, much less a Honda in a Tuxedo (touring trim). As a current Audi owner and having previously owned models from Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Jaguar, and Lincoln, I must say I am very impressed with the "bang for the buck" in this Accord. Maybe in the future Honda would consider upping the basic factory warranty to world class status as well. Each of the marques I just mentioned provide 4 year/50000 mile basic warranty. Since the 2018 Accord is the most sophisticated Accord ever built, Honda should expect to attract crossover buyers and lessees from the marques I mentioned previously and then some. This car is a winner, would only trade it for an Accord Hybrid Touring. Better fuel economy and more horsepower without the turbo lag, the hybrid wasn't available when I bought this one.

One Year Later

It has been one year since I purchased my Honda Accord 2.0 Touring. The car continues to be performing up to expectations as to ride and handling. What is slightly disappointing is the gas mileage. My 2013 six cylinder Accord got about the same mileage and at times on the highway was better. Other then that I have not found any surprises. I would advise that the lower profile does make exit and entry more difficult. This is something I knew and is far from a deal breaker. My wife and I are very satisfied with our Accord and would recommend it .

The Truth About The Accord

I researched everything before buying the Accord. Audi, BMW, Lexus, Toyota, Mazda, Nissa, Hyundai, you name it. After months of researching and test driving, I purchased a 2018 Accord Touring. Let’s talk about asthetics: The Platinum White with the black tires, badging, and underbody spoiler gives this car an aggressive look that turns a lot of heads. The look of the new model has really grown on me. At first, I didn’t know what to think, but it’s kind of like a new album from a band you love that has a different sound...sometimes you just have to listen to it for awhile before you can fully appreciate it. It’s not uncommon for people to mistake this car for an Audi. Getting into your Accord feels like getting into a spaceship. The back seats can fit your friend who is 6’4” no problem. The interior is well-designed and beautiful to look at. It is simple and elegant. The full digital readout and infotainment screen greet you when you turn on the vehicle - and I know you’re thinking the engine can’t sound good because it’s a 4 cylinder, but you’re wrong. There is a throaty growl when you turn on the car and even more so when you are in sport mode and testing the acceleration. The 10speed automatic shifts like a a dream and there are not many cars (if any) in the sedan class that can beat this Accord off the line. The heads up display and adaptive cruise control make driving less work - and the car can almost steer itself if you turn on the lane keep control. I bought this car with all the bells and whistles - if you could add it on, I did. Door sill illumination, puddle lights, spoilers, etc. All things that are completely unnecessary and this reflected in the bottom line I paid.l, but I’m 29, so having a car that you could easily put a family in is important to me, but when I’m driving by myself I want something fun and sporty to drive. I have about 14,000 miles into it at this point. I’m sure that some bugs/issues will come up at some point, but knowing Honda we will get them resolved. I highly reccomend this vehicle. The combination of comfort, speed, practicality, gas mileage, and asthetics should put this car high on your list.

No cars are built like a Honda

I have owned 3 Honda Accords and 2 Ridge Line trucks. I still have the first Honda Accord (1981) and bought It as a gift for my wife. She refuses to sell it because its one of the best cars we've ever owned. I have owned 5 Mercedes and the new 2018 EX Honda I just purchased out performs all of them. (The Honda engineers know how to mix metals)

1.5L Sport

2018 Honda Accord Sport 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)
5 of 5 people found this review helpful

I love the car. It’s the 1.5L sport. Handling is great, steering with decent feel. Acceleration is very good for motor size, combined with good real world gas mileage. I considered my self a car guy and for commuting I love the CVT transmission. Very responsive, ultra smooth, paddle shifters actually work in sport mode. Interior is nicest in the class by far, roomy and comfortable. Downsides are the ride can be a lot little bumpy and busy on bad roads. It’s good considering it has 19” wheels, but if your after a super smooth ride, probably not your car. Also a little too much road noise on some surfaces. If you want a sporty looking, driving, and economical car that has plenty of room for 5, it’s a great car! Bought it for 23.3k plus tax, so consider it a good value. Update: 55,000 miles 40mg, no problems great commuter and family trip car. Trunk is huge. You do not need an suv.

2018 2.0T Sport Accord...4 day ownership review.

There are rattles and vibrations. This car had 7 miles purchased 4 days ago. On the way home from dealer I noticed it made vibrations after 1 hour on the road in the Arizona heat. Vibration and rattles from dash and from exhaust area. When I would travel 50 mph and take my foot off gas, car decelerates to 30 mph is when the rattling from exhaust occurred. Also rattling from engine and dash. This is an issue as web sites and YouTube has documented owners having similar issues.

A few issues after a few weeks

Issues stared about a week and a half ago with a lifter tick coming from the engine bay, I thought maybe it was from the cold weather but seems to die down but never go away after 20 minuets of driving. The next issue started a few days after when something started rattling in the back. Sounds like the rear cover is rubbing against the rear window awesome. Things I've also found is when a car is merging from the on ramp that my car will all of a sudden slam on the breaks while being in a whole other lane, another awesome option I didn't know about. The last issue was when I was driving home from work and 4 warning lights came on, radar shut down, ACC will not work since that went off. Was not happy with this car since then. Talked to the service dealer and I never had anyone back peddle with these issues so much in my life, and I work for tech service! Called the sales guy who told me to get a hold of him and haven't received a response yet. Thinking about it now for the price of the car and how many options they offer (not many) for that price I feel cheated that I can't even get a sense of satisfaction that I have that "Honda reliability". Frustrated with this purchase, my first new car in years and it's this poor of an experience. Update, Since I wrote this my driver door will randomly not unlock when it rains so I have to find an open door and unlock it from the inside. But since then Honda gave me a 2018 loner from the dealer, this car doesn't have the ticking issue mine did and it's same engine.

ok, but NOISY

Man, it is NOISY, could be I lost the tire lottery. Received the ultra cheap Hankook tires instead of Michelin. I took a trip to Dallas from Austin and had to take a break after 1.5 hours to get some quiet (a Chick-Fil-A full of college students in Waco was a relief). The tires sing or scream on most concrete roads and roar on many asphalt roads...….NOT A ROAD CAR! The seat back is something like a 2x6 board, and ride is almost tough, but the noise is the worst..... holy cow..... its just deafening. I guess I'll just add the cost of new tires to the cost of the car. After reading most professional reviews, I've lost confidence in those reviewers. They seem to praise it. Why? I thought they started making cars better than this 25 years ago. There are many fine features, but the noise just trumps them all.

If you are older buy a smoother riding car

Rough Rider, 03/03/2018

Get a model that has 17" rims with plenty of sidewall on the tires and get a good touring tire. We bought this accord sport 2.0 and only test drove it on smooth road behind the dealership. When we took it into the real world it bounced around so much you can't even hold a cup of coffee. The noise level on concrete older roads is so loud you can't even hear the radio. Sorry we bought this model being older. Great sports car for youngins! To try and fix our mistake we spent a lot of money and bought 18" rims and a good touring tire and it calmed the ride and noise down a great deal. Don't buy the sport model with stiffer suspension and 19" rims if you have any back issues or want a smooth riding car.

3rd new Accord and my last Honda purchase ever.

Noisy interior, no solution, 11/19/2018

So this is a great looking car both inside and out. It runs great as well. However, that is where the good items stop. I purchased this vehicle new in Sept. 2018. Since then it has been in the shop 27 business days and 4 separate visits for rattles, vibrations and squeaking noises from the front dash and rear dash area. Most of the rattles and vibrations are random and happen between 20mph and 45 mph and vary in sound level. The mechanic and service advisor informed me each time that they had fixed all of the noises with 2 rolls of adhesive felt tape that Honda gives them to fix such issues. Really? My new Honda has two rolls of tape to keep all of the manufacturer quality issues from being heard? Whew, that's a huge relief. I have taken it back 3 more times for the random noises, but unfortunately by the time I make my way to the dealer and wait 20 minutes for the mechanic to ride with me the random noises have disappeared. Even though I have the noises on clear audible video during my drive to their dealership, Honda refuses to fix the car unless the mechanic can here the noises, which I understand but it is increasingly frustrating to live with this NEW noisy vehicle every day. I just saw a consumer reports article that stated Honda is the lowest rated Asian manufacturer and #15 amongst others, which explains a lot. I bought a new 06, 12 & 18 Accord and this will be my last Honda purchase ever. I wish I would have researched Honda before making this purchase, but I instead went with past experience instead.

I have owned most makes of cars. I have bought about forty ,(40) New cars in my life. This is my passion, the smell, the feel, the joy a new car can bring is priceless to me. I have owned, 3/ BMW 3s,1/ Jaguar X ,2/ Acura's TL & TSX ,2/ Infinities-I35s, 4/ VW Passat w/modifications, 4/Kia Optima SX &SXLs 2.0Ts, and an assortment of Toyotas, Nissans, Mazdas , Hyundais and Hondas. On Nov. 29 2017, after extensive research I bought a 2018 Honda Accord Touring 1.5, white/white. This is the first car of all I have bought that has every technical feature I have ever wanted. IT rides with a certain alacrity, It stays flat in corners, the seats actually hold me in place without sliding . There is no bounciness over undulations on the road, and the steering is as precise as my BMW 328 ci. The 1.5 turbo has the requisite amount of power for my at my current age and skill level and with the body colored rear spoiler I had the dealer install ,(it has a black strip on top of the white), it is quite attractive. I went to the local Kia dealer to pick up my wife while her 2017 Kia Sorento was being serviced, and every available sales person and manager went out to look at it, and wanted talk to me about it. That has never happened to me with any other car I have owned. In closing you can chastise, promote ,ridicule, or prefer whatever car you want, but until you Buy It, Own It, Drive It, you really don't know...Do You.

Clunking sounds after braking resolved

ConcernedAccordOwner, 02/03/2018
2018 Honda Accord LX 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
13 of 16 people found this review helpful

Updated Review: The Honda dealership replaced the brake booster and master cylinder twice and the noise issue described below has resolved. However, quickly releasing the brake pedal can still by noisy. I was told that this is because Honda has switched over to an electric/electronic brake booster system and there is a rotating screw that makes a zipping sound when the brake pedal is moving quickly. In addition, there can be a thump when the brake pedal hits the end of its range of movement. However, the clunking sounds sounds are much improved after replacement of the above parts. Otherwise the car is a dream to drive with beautiful handling, light and responsive. The entry level LX (~$23,000) has so many advanced features and such superb performance that I believe that the overall driving experience is better than most cars twice the price. I bought the car primarily as a reliable tool to take me from A to B but now I look for excuses to drive the car because it is a truly pleasurable experience. I test drove the 2018 Toyota Camry and the Subaru Legacy and there is no comparison, the Accord is in a different league. Older Review: We have been loyal Honda owners for 20 years but in my opinion Honda should stop selling the 2018 Accord until a bug in the braking or transmission system is fixed. After stopping and after releasing the brake pedal or when accelerating one can often hear a tinny clunking , clicking or snapping sound originating from the driver's side of the engine compartment close to the brake pedal. Sometimes it sounds as if a metal part is snapping back. It can be very loud and annoying and the noise gets louder in cold weather. In my opinion these sounds make the car appear very cheaply and poorly constructed. Also after braking there is excessive snap back of the chassis. I took it back to the dealership two weeks after buying it and they let me drive another Accord which had the same problem but was not as noisy as mine. Did not expect this from Honda and especially from a Honda Accord. There is another Edmunds review that mentions a similar problem and some 2018 Accord owners on the Accord forums are also talking about this. So this could be a general issue with the 2018 Accord. I can't understand how this problem could have escaped Honda' quality control. in general there are intermittent cheap rattling sounds from different regions of the car. Without these problems I would have given the car five stars, hands down, but these rattling sounds are unacceptable from any new car today that costs as much as an Accord.

2018 Accord terrible steering

Jeff Rowland, 01/05/2019

This is the third new Honda Accord I have owned. (1995,2011,2018). This car has the worst steering of any car I have ever driven. (Honda or others). When driving on the freeway you you cannot make minor steering adjustments. The steering feels stuck and then after applying more force it notches to the left or right depending which direction you apply pressure. In doing so it over corrects and you end up zig zagging in your lane as if you are a distracted driver. I have had it in for service but they are unable to fix it. After searching the internet I have found others experiencing the same issue. I do not enjoy driving this car. This occurs with lane keep assist and other safety features turned on or off.

so just for background came out of 15 TLX base V6 lease to this car a 2.0t sport 6sp manual. Overall i really enjoy the car so much so that I actually just go out for a drive sometimes and can't remember the last car that I wanted to do that with. So the pros: 1.engine is full of character, sounds great, has wonderful torque. 2.handling is amazing for a car of this size and a main stream mid size sedan. 3. typical excellent honda manual tranny 4.excellent user interface for touchscreen 5. the car is legit fun to drive Cons: 1. Road noise- is loud over certain road surfaces not all - borderline unacceptable- by far far worst quality of car 2. Stereo is terrible but i added a under seat sub and is ok now 3. Little stiff but will accept for handling- Not terrible 4. little overpriced for what you get. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Poor quality

I bought a new 2018 Honda Accord in February 2018, and shortly after the car began to display defects on the body. The driver’s side mirror, rubber strip below windows and rubber/plastic parts all warped; the vehicle appears to be melting before my eyes. Mechanical issues include a faulty brake mitigation system; this defect is very dangerous because the car completely stops operating and won’t excelerate. The car has a loud whistling sound and seems loud, due to poor construction of insulation around the doors. The Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos, where I purchased the car, refused to help correct the cosmetic defects, after the manager said he’d, “Make it right.” I’ve escalated concerns to American Honda, and thankfully found another dealership that cared about my customer experience and helped a lot. Overall, I feel robbed since Honda constructed a lemon.

So far I really love this car. Access to the USB port for Android Auto could be a little better. The gear shift blocks it somewhat. Also my Samsung Note 4 barely fits in the cubby hole where the USB port is located. Back seat room is superior. The ride is very nice overall. So far I would highly recommend buying this 2018 Accord.

I am totally in love with my new 2018 Accord Sport 2.0 10AT. Cosmetically, it is one of the coolest designs I've seen in a long time. It no longer looks like a family sedan, but the sporty race car you really want to own, only with four doors. The only negative I have to say about this vehicle is the A/C. When outside temperatures go into the 90s, it takes a LONG time for this car's cabin to cool down. My commute is about 30 minutes, and the car finally cools down about 15 minutes in. But, thankfully, that is only on really hot days. The other three quarters of the year and the evenings the A/C will eventually freeze you out. Don't know what that is about, but the dealer says everything is working correctly and coolant levels are correct.

M y last Honda was a 2004 Accord EXL V6 . I miss the V6 engine. I miss a better drivers seat in the 04 much more comfortable. My 04 had to replace spark plugs at every 100,00 miles now the 4 cylinder has to replace plugs every 30,000 miles. This is progress?? Love the style of the 2018. Main reason I bought the car. 2018 model. 2018 has better brakes almost to the point that it is to sensitive. Car is a very good buy for the money. Good style, good quality, however what was Honda thinking by eliminating that beautiful V6 engine and making the front seats too low

Read the manual twice!

Pay attention to sales person or whoever is teaching you how to setup safety features, XM/Sirius radio, iPhone or Android setup etc. before you leave dealership. Read manual twice while sitting in car. Plan on going back to dealer with a list of questions you have after a few days of driving your new car. If you are moving up in years from 2013 or before, welcome to the world of new car technology! The 2018 Honda has more features than you will probably use. But, the safety driving features could be a life saver eg, blind spot warning &alarm alone is a great feature! Was going BMW 330 route. Have to say with Honda’s new design handling is superb. (Assuming you do not have Hankook or Kumho tires).

Performance is better than expected. Combined mileage from purchase date is 31 mpg. On trip over pass and back it was 37 mpg. With the 10 speed transmission the engine runs at 1500 rpm in eco mode no matter what speed you are driving below freeway speed. All this with loads of effortless power. The car is fun to drive with the 2.0 turbo. Huge improvement from our last 2002 Accord that still drove like new after 175,000 miles. Sold that car in one day above book value.

2018 Accord Sport 1.5 CVT Review

Upgrading from my 13 Accord Sport which I loved, I was excited about my 18 Sport purchase My engine went from 2.4L to 1.5 with Turbo. Gas economy is roughly the same as my 13. Great lines, great tech, and super fun to drive. Plenty of thrust from the turbo assisted engine and I have no issues passing or speeding up to keep up with the flow of traffic. Brakes are 10 out of 10, I am very sure I could stop on a dime anywhere. The car has seen a little snow/slush driving and its adequate. Not great but far from bad. Not the greatest speakers but the Apple Play enhances the digital feed a bit. But this car deserves much better speakers. One thing that does annoy me is that you can't drive the car in Sport Mode and have the ECON button on as well for better gas mileage. You could do that in he 13-15 Accords. Road noise is rampant. I opted for the black 19" rims and black badging with a carbon fiber roof and tail, all stock from the dealer and makes the car look incredibly sharp. Overall I give my car a 8.5 out of 10. (I rates my 13 a 9 out of 10). When adding the pros and cons, the 13 was slightly better in my eyes because of the value at time of purchase (22k versus 29k six years later). When I traded in my 13 in July 2018, the car has 67k miles and I was given 10k for trade. So great resale value. Lets see if my 18 will get the same or more. Update 3/12/19 @ 18966 miles....constant problems with under inflation on my Goodyear tires that came stock. The choice to put 19 inch rims I believe was a mistake. The handling is choppy at best and I feel a little more tire could have curbed that. Apple play likes to not work mysteriously at times and then Bluetooth mode offers less clarity with the less than adequate speaker system. I dropped the review one star because of increased cabin noise, continual tech annoyances and little things like the driver side front power window motor is slowing down and I’m sure will have to be replaced soon. Overall I’m still happy but not ecstatic. Gas mileage is still fantastic and only regular service so far. 29k for this car is too much. Will have to ship more wisely next time.

The way this whole car is thought out is amazing. Voice commands work great, navigation is just as good as apple maps, the car play is fantastic, and great for tall people. If your 6’2”, you’ll have no problem fitting passengers and your self in this car. Each fob is numbered so before you get in the car it will adjust to the seat memory. Excellent quality and technology.

2018 Accord transmission issue

Recently purchased a 2018 Accord 2.0 Touring. Since day one the transmission jerks in the first three gears when it’s cold. Owned it for less than a month and it’s been in the shop 4 times for the same issue. Honda tech keeps telling to the dealer to do a reset and a break in procedure which does not solve the issue. Very frustrating, should have stayed with Acura. Update. Now after 8 months the car has been in the shop 9 times. Transmission has been replaced. Solved that issue. Other issues still exists. Honda quality has seriously gone downhill along with their customer service.

I financed my car February 2018 and oh lord I regret it. I Love My Car i love the model it’s a beautiful car overall all wich Is why i chose it. But I’ve had constant issues 1 thing after another I already have had several parts on my vehicle replaced due to them not functioning. My whole wiring harness has been replaced because a fuse went out for. I aparent reason. They replaced my passenger side wind motor so the window can roll up and down properly and now I’m having issues with both my back windows not rolling down. I’m not sure what is going on but it’s so constant and such a head ache I’m hopeing I can turn my car in and just finance somthing else this is rediculous! And I’m just so unsatisfied about this being the situation

Great combo of value, style, performance, function

I traded in my 2014 Civic coupe for a 2018 Accord Sport about a month ago. I absolutely love the Accord. It is an excellent combination of style, performance, fuel economy, space, comfort, nice features, advanced technology, and value. My car is red and in the Sport trim it is absolutely beautiful. The stylish 19 inch rims and dual exhaust complement the red exterior and black interior for a very nice looking sedan. It is also a pleasure to drive. As my dad put it, it doesn't really require a lot of driver inputs, but it responds nicely when you want to have a little fun. The acceleration is very solid and everything you need. I drive the interstates of Atlanta on a daily basis so I drive as fast and intense as almost anyone will ever need to and it has all the power I need (that my Civic didn't). The best part is that it still has great fuel economy, I'm meeting the stated 31 combined MPG so far. The handling is very solid and steady as is the breaking. The safety features are great. The backup camera is wonderful if you've never had one. The lane keep assist works really well, I have let my car steer itself several times and it keeps in the lane and tells you that steering is required if you take your hands off the wheel. The adaptive cruise control is awesome and is truly a game-changing feature in my opinion if you love using your cruise. The interior of the car has high quality materials, has a very sleek look, and is well laid out. The A/C works really well and has a cool feature where the knobs change color when you change the temperature. The touchscreen is great and has a nice combo of buttons, knobs, and touch to use the key features. There are multiple ways to access things like the radio, phone, etc. that make it easy to use. It's nice that Android Auto is available but it has been frustrating to use for me when I have tried it. I love the interior features specific to the Sport. The cloth/leatherette seating is great because the cloth is where your legs/butt/back would get hot from leather in the summer. The leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals, and chrome trim are nice touches. The interior for this trim is not loaded but it has what you really need like a power driver's seat, keyless ignition, and automatic climate control. The seats are nice sized and all have great leg, head, shoulder, and hip room. I took the car on an 800 mile mini road trip soon after purchasing it and the driver's seat was great with the power adjustment but the passenger seat was not the most comfortable I have ridden in after several hours. The trunk is huge. The console is massive, the phone port area is big enough for the bigger phones and the USB port charges your phone fast. I think the car represents an excellent value, especially if the expected Honda reliability holds. I highly recommend considering this car if you are looking for a sedan.

I purchased this car because I drive alot, and needed something that would be comfortable and reasonable on gas. The 2.0 turbo charged engine is super powerful, and gives you more power than you will ever need. The seats are comfortable, but the car is really low to the ground. With that being said, I wish that I had never bought this car. This car randomly applies the brakes while driving on the open road. Several times, the car has applied the brakes while nobody would be around me while on the interstate. My wife refuses to drive the car, and personally I have safety concerns. You never know when this thing is going to apply the brakes. I have taken the car to my dealer and they cant find anything wrong with this car. Very frustrating. Update: The car continues to randomly apply brakes. I have called Honda several times, and the representatives talk to me as if they think that I am making this up. They basically have told me that unless I have video proving this issue, there is nothing they can or will do. Each time that I take the car in for an oil change, I continue to tell the dealer that it continues to randomly apply the brakes while on the road. The newest "trick" this car performs is applying the brakes in the presence of a shadow. The tech claims the only way the brakes will be applied is radar feedback. I believe the actual feedback is from the camera mounted in the car. Since purchase, the car has been driven 40,000 miles. Update 2024: Car still continues to randomly apply the emergency braking. Now there is a recall on the fuel pump, and Honda will not act on the recall until the car stops working. I think this has sealed my decision about purchasing another Honda. I can honestly say that I will NOT buy another Honda product.

Can't report on Maintenance cost or long term reliability ... New car... but with the Turbo, New info-suite, Loads of safety electronics and it being the first year of a new design.... I did opt for the extended warranty. I know it's usually a waste but piece of mind was worth it to me. Make sure you negotiate the price of the extended warranty. That price is grossly over padded.

Best driving car I've ever owned - Better than BMW

My previous cars - Infiniti FX 35, BMW 328, BMW Z4, Audi TT. I like this car more than those others and its only the LX. The 1.5 turbo is really fun and has more power than I need. When I baby the engine I get 39mpg city and 46mpg highway. Normal driving I average about 38mpg. The cloth seats are wonderful. Low road noise. Much better drive than my Infiniti and BMW. Steering wheel is luxurious. Stereo is great. It looks amazing. The self driving thing lasts about 15-20 seconds before you have to touch the wheel. I have zero complaints about this and I would drive this car over any of the new entry level luxury cars. I'm a single guy and girls love this car as well. Honda absolutely nailed it. I'm planning on keeping it until 100k miles and I have zero car envy. I look at range rovers and think, "poor guy has to pay for all that gas and worry about all those problems, why does he care so much about what people see him drive?" My 2018 Accord looks just as good as any car on the road and has far superior quality! Don't hesitate to buy this car, its amazing!

I was in a wreck with this vehicle. I was hit on the driver's side door at 30 to 40 mph. Not a single airbag deployed. The sensors are not broken but they are bad. The thing breaks automatically for no reason and it cannot maintain a lane. Also, it slams on breaks if it thinks I am drifting lanes. You could be on a highway in rush hour and if it thinks you're departing a lane it will slam on the brakes. Also, if you are reacting quickly to say someone who pulls out in front of you and you don't use your blinker the car will brake and hopefully the person behind you doesn't run into you. Never felt so unsafe and not in control. There is also no way to turn this off either

Garbage quality and limited concern from Honda USA

Unhappy in Orlando, 05/08/2018
2018 Honda Accord Touring 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

2018 Accord Touring. Bought this great looking, comfortable, feature rich car from Honda in February. First week I had it I found a small (about 1/2 inch) paint defect. The dealer took care of getting that spot repainted, and I thought I was all set. Then the following week I found a larger (roughly 2 inch) paint defect on the roof of the car ina splatter pattern. So I took it in and the dealer took it back to look at it. When I got the car back they said it didn’t look like a paint defect to them and that I’d need to file a claim with gameron (extra paint protection layer I purchased from them), and on top of that there’s now a small dent in my new car (3 weeks old). I had to escalate to the dealer’s service manger, but they did fix the dent. So while I’m waiting several weeks for Honda to approve the repaint of my roof, my wireless charging pad for my phone now works intermittently, my backup camera died (and started working again after about a week, the weather strip over the passenger’s rear door becomes detached from the door, and my frustration is peaked when the case handler tells me Honda will keep servicing the car, but that’s all they will do. So I got the car back from the dealer yesterday with the repairs completed. Today I’m driving and I get a warning light that the tire pressure gauge has failed, and now I have this horrible and loud scraping sound coming from the front tire which was replaced due to a nail in it, and the car has only 6500 miles. Buyer beware!!! I’ve owned Honda cars for over 30 years. If Honda wants to keep my loyalty they really need to get me in a car that I can drive without so many things breaking on it. I will not go quietly away and feel others should know. In all fairness the dealer has been good to work with, but I seriously question what has happened to Honda quality.

I like everything about my 1.5L CVT EXL Accord, except the quality of the sound. Not as good as the Bose system I had on my 2013 Altima. I don't understand the complaints about the low stance of the vehicle. One test drive should tell you it you like or not. I can't underdtand why anyone would purchase a car that they think is too low to drive or to get in and out of. I am blown away by how much power Honda extracts from a 1.5L engine which is averaging 35mpg for me.

Moonroof and a Manual

Grateful for manual, 01/24/2019

2018 Honda Accord Sport 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 6M)

I like to drive--more specifically I enjoy a vehicle with a manual transmission and a moonroof. That left me with limited options when I decided to purchase a new car in 2018. With manuals going the way of the dinosaur, only a handful of manufacturers offer a my desired combination in a sedan or hatch/not quite sports car. I considered the following cars: Veloster, Mazda 3, Mazda 6, Ford Focus ST, VW Golf GTI, Honda Civic Si, Honda Accord, Subaru WRX and maybe one or two others that I have since forgotten. Concerns about quality eliminated VW. Styling issues did in the Veloster and Civic. (Hey Honda, what's going on with the Civic back end?) Ride quality reports killed off the WRX. I probably would have purchased a Mazda 6 if they made it with both a moonroof and manual, but no such luck. After test drives the Accord beat out Mazda 3 and Focus ST. The Ford back seat had barely any leg room, and I want to be able to take people along with me. I have enjoyed the Accord thus far. My favorite features are the combination of 6-speed manual, moonroof, and 252 hp engine. Thank you Honda for making a spacious mid-sized sedan with a manual. I also enjoy the still night pearl color (purplish blue). Pleasantly surprising has been the ride quality (on 19inch wheels) and the fuel economy--almost 29mpg in a mix of driving. Other enjoyable details have been the button on the trunk lid that pops the trunk with key in your pocket, and I like the no-cap fuel filler better than I expected. The tech works well, and controls are easy to use. Heated front seats are a nice touch on a cold winter's day. The back seat is very spacious, and the trunk is a good size. I added auto-dimming rear-view with Homelink, which has been enjoyable. I appreciate the blind spot warning light...not the beep, but yes to the light. Like most things in life, the car has some disappointments too. I am not a fan of some of the HondaSensing safety features. Primarily annoying is that I have to turn off forward collision warning each time I turn on the car. The technology is overly sensitive, beeping at me in fairly normal (maybe a little aggressive) driving circumstances. Also, Honda requires the parking brake to be set for the car to start, which I guess is a safety feature with a manual transmission? I was not really a fan of the style of rims, but I can live with them. One of the biggest disappointments is the sound quality of the stereo system. When paying 30K for a car, I had hoped for a better sound system. If only I could trade the forward collision warning for a subwoofer. I almost forgot, one more annoyance is the key fob. More specifically, the trunk opens and panic button triggers by bumping other keys in my pocket. I have used keyless entry/push button fobs form other manufacturers without this problem...seems like a design problem. Despite the foibles, I am satisfied with the Accord. I hope Honda's reputation for quality/dependability holds true for this vehicle.

Decent - But Liked My 2008 Accord Much Better!

I was very excited to finally trade in my 2008 Accord for this 2018 model. While I've enjoyed the car, especially the body style, I'm a little disappointed in all of the interior noise I'm experiencing. The main issues are: 1) Driver side window weather stripping not installed properly so produces a lot of wind noise when window is up; 2) Chirping or whirling noise coming from the a/c vent when fan is on; 3) A lot of front dash vibration, without a specific obvious source; and 4) A lot of rear deck vibration (this was an issue in my 2008, but the dealer fixed it). I'm experiencing all of these things at only 9,000 miles. I brought it in to the dealer and they could not "replicate" any of my concerns, of course. But, the minute I drove away, I heard them all. Wishing I would have purchased a late model 2017 instead -- after all flaws were fixed.

RATTLE NOISE PROBLEM

My car makes a annoying rattle sounds. The noise pops up very randomly but mostly when roads are uneven. I visited the service center 3 times so far and it never solved. on the 1st and 2nd visiting , they said everything has fixed but I could still hear the noise right next day. On my 3rd visiting, a Honda worker went with me for test driving for 10~15 min but sadly the roads were too nice, so we could not hear the noise. I said I have bunch of videos that I recorded the noise, but the worker said he actually has to hear the noise. I do not hear the noise all the time but EVERY DAY. He recommended that I should find the roads where I hear the noise, visit a Honda service center near that so someone can test drive my car....... ugh.. I really do not want to waste my time anymore. I had to take my vacation days off from work to go to the service center. This is totally wasting time and money. I totally regret that I got 2018 Accord. Do not know what to do now... so stressful and annoying.

It's funny how I see all of the 5 star reviews but the 1 and 2 star are the most accurate when compared to my own experience. My wife and I bought 2018 Accord and Civic. Both cars are completely designed horribly and have many defects that Honda won't fix. The Accord rides very hard and is very noisy (the noisyest I've ever been in) period. The safety features all are malfunctioning along with defects in paint/body. Driver seats break twice yearly. Chrome grill bubbles, twice a year replacement required. Oil changes are very frequent for synthetic oil (like using regular oil) 35-5000 mile changes, leaning more towards the 35000. Had to trade it due to fear of having to repair all of the defects once the warranty is up and the cost of oil changes being way too high. Lemon.

Traded in my 2015 Subaru Legacy for a Honda Accord Sport 1.5L CVT thanks mostly to standard Honda Sensing. Was going to trade my Legacy--a highly underrated car--for a new one with Eyesight. After finding the Subaru dealers in town difficult to work with I stumbled on to the new 2018 Accord and I've been very happy with it so far. The ride is very good, could use a little less engine/transmission noise. I won't be drag racing with this car but the acceleration is more than enough to make an aggressive merge onto the busy freeway. Android Auto is a nice plus. As for the Honda Sensing, the Adaptive Cruise Control works quite well in 20-65 mpg traffic, not as good in stop and go traffic as the car sometimes takes too long to get going after stops. Also I find the lane keep assist too aggressive but you can turn this off if you prefer. I do like the forward collision mitigation--it works without being overly aggressive. Fuel mileage has steadily improved to around 30 mpg in mixed driving. Interior is roomy though leather/cloth combo seats not as comfy as the cloth seats in the Legacy. Exterior and interior styling are what attracted me to the car, The Sport wheels are among the best you see on any car. My only real complaint about the car is the size of the fuel tank (14.8 US gal). 14.8 is small to begin with then fuel gauge only allows you to use 12.5 gallons before reading 0 miles til empty. For some reason Honda's are all engineered to have a real life fuel range of 350 miles are so. I could go nearly 500 miles per tank on my Legacy with the 18.5 gallon tank. Even though I'm getting better mileage with the Honda, I'm not sure why Honda thinks people want to visit the gas station more often. Seems unnecessary. Overall I enjoy driving my Honda--and also looking at it--and give it an overall score 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Amazing car for the price w/ some issues

I am thoroughly enjoying my 2018 Accord 2.0T Touring and it hits every mark save for a few quality issues. Performance, economy, and its technology are second to none for the price. Styling and some apparent first year production quality issues are however a small concern. The adaptive cruise control w/ auto lane keep assist are like a less smart version of Tesla's auto pilot but make highway commutes in stop and go traffic a relaxing experience. The car almost drives it self and I am just there to to supervise. The auto lane keep assist is also super helpful in crazy L.A. traffic since it keeps you in the lane through all sorts of twists and turns and auto cruise control with auto braking, heads up display alerts and audible alerts ensure you don't run into the car ahead of you. The infotainment system w/ Apple care play and Android auto are also a necessity now, but keep in mind the Android auto is far more feature rich when used with this care. With android the heads up display and instrument cluster will provide navigation tips w/ google maps while the Apple equivlent does not. I believe this is probably because the care uses and Android based infotainment system and or Apple is simply behind the curve in feature integration. I have had some minor quality issues. In super twisty roads with extreme elevation changes the auto high beams and adaptive cruise control will freak out. Auto high beams however can be disabled for manual operation. I have had one situation where Adaptive Cruize control faulted and stopped working until a restart of the car, but otherwise it has been mostly trouble free with some odd quirks which I hope will be ironed out with future version updates. Some minor external and internal body panel misalignment's have are apparent, but no deal breaker for me.

Pretty, Peppy but Too Techy

It sits low on the passenger side but we've had worse with KIA several years ago. At least you can see out of the entire window . A short person like me has good visibility and feels comfortable even with the low slung look. Like Honda's we've had before, it has a lot of pep, as though it wants to take off if only you'd let it. It isn't quiet compared to Toyota, Hyundai or KIA even with the white noise adjustment. I looked everywhere to find how you know if it is on. Only the service tech could find it. I look at the manual a lot. In other words it has too much tech stuff for us that young and younger people like to play with but we'll never use. But then it is aimed at persuading the younger driver to switch from an SUV. We looked at Toyota too but liked the Honda's styling better.Ours is pretty to look at (red) and people have come up and asked about it. One day I found forehead prints all over the windows. Hope they weren't planning to steal it.

So I picked up my Accord back in late March of this year for 27K. I have the sport model with the 18" tires and a manual transmission which I appreciate since so many American cars don't come with a stick except at the higher end models. The car handles well, and overall I'm satisfied with it considering my job has my driving around 2000 miles a month. HOWEVER, as with any car there have been a couple issues. The touch screen is finicky and likes to freeze up when using Apple Car Play, you also have to connect it to the lightning port to use it which for some reason doesn't charge it while doing so. Additionally, make sure you check everything is installed correctly before driving off. I had a mirror come off in the car wash and even though their's no damage to the side mirror assembly, the mirror itself isn't covered under warranty because of "outside influences." as per the dealer and Honda of America.

Leased a 2018 Sport Manual with the 1.5 engine. Perhaps it was dumb as I'm 40 yrs old with a family, but the manual brings the fun back to driving again. Overall a great car! The 1.5 turbo has plenty of power, allowing me to chirp the tires in hard shifts into 2nd gear. However, truly amazing to me is that it is returning 34.8 mpg in real world driving. This is a mix of 75city/25hwy. I'm quite impressed by the gas mileage as I have driven the car fairly hard in my first 1,000 miles and used 87 octane. The good: strong engine (1.5), gear box, handling, tech. Google car play is an amazing interface that is very easy to use. There is very little I don't like about the car. Some minor gripes: on the highway, the road noise is a bit loud, but I came from a Lexus. Certain roads seem to catch the tires jerking the steering wheel ever so slightly. Not sure if it is the tires or the steering. And one really annoying gripe, there is no trunk release located on the trunk. You either need to use the keyless fob or open from the driver side door. This is the one thing I hate - so I suppose if that is my biggest gripe, then the car is solid. If you like a smooth manual transmission, with plenty of power, that is fun to drive, go get one! Mine is the red color and I've had a lot of people come ask what it is. When I say an Accord, they shake their heads in disbelief. Very nicely done Honda!

Let me just start by saying I’m a Honda girl always have been and always will be my last 2 models were the accord coupes which I absolutely loved and currently still have my last one as a second car I was hoping to get the 10th gen accord coupe and was heartbroken to learn they were discontinuing the coupe, however I absolutely love this accord I went with the sport 2.0t black and man does she turn heads. my previous accord (also sexy) was an EXL v6 model so again I was sad to here there would be no more v6,but this 2.0 moves however havent had the chance to do put them against each other yet but I think this new 2.0t will pull ahead, I love this car, with that said I am so disappointed in the speaker quality my last model has an amazing sound system no need for any upgrades but with this one I sometimes would rather not listen to it because I get aggravated with how bad it is, I could of went with the touring with 2 extra speakers and the sub but I just really loved this sport model I really wish Honda would of put a better system in this 2.0 sport which appeals to the younger crowd rather then the granny models 🤷🏼‍♀️😕

I purchased a 2018 Honda Accord and I had a really bad experience. The features do not work. -My computer would reboot while driving -Drop my phone Bluetooth connection -Stop music playback for no reason -Collision sensor went off all the time even when sitting at a light -Volume would stop working or re-adjust on its own with the setting turned off -Backup guidelines stopped working with the option turned on A myriad of inconsistencies with the technology. I took it in 3 times. The first 2 times they said I didn't know how to use the technology. The 3rd time I didn't accept that answer and the service coordinator hung up on me. I paid a lot of money for those features. Honda acknowledged that there was a low voltage issue but instead of replacing the faulty parts they kept resetting the sensor.

Love my new red Accord! Update** NOT LOVED NOW

Update**: Shortly after writing this glowing review I started having problems with my new Accord. It ended up spending a total of 34 days in the shop for covered repairs. I had a rodent chew some wires not long after I had it. It was towed to the shop and the dealership repaired it. They said I was lucky that minimum damage had been done. I paid $600 as this was not covered under warranty. A few weeks later my car looses all power and all warning lights come on. I get it back to the dealership. They say the wiring is fine but the catalytic converter is bad. Not related to wiring so It is replaced under warranty. This happens again a few weeks later as I'm driving down the interstate! Again, the same thing is diagnosed- catalytic converter and also the computer. They keep the car longer this time. When I pick it up the mechanic is confident the computer was the problem. They had test drove it for a while and all was good. I was relieved because the dealership had no loaner cars and I had been borrowing vehicles to drive from family. 3 weeks after picking up the car it happens again. All warning lights come on and total loss of power. I take it back to the dealership and they are at a loss on what to do. At this point I'm feeling unsafe with the car. I write a letter to Honda requesting they buy back the car. I get a case manager "Adrian" and a date for an arbitration hearing. I had to send in all service records and I sent in everything. After spending 3 weeks in the shop, I get the car back. It seems to be driving fine, but I'm getting "collision mitigation error" messages. I document it and send it to the arbitrator. I also have yet another repair done to attempt to fix the "collision mitigation" problem. I have the hearing a few days after getting the car back from the shop. My case was denied and the argument from Honda was all problems were caused by the wire being chewed from the rodent and all repairs done under warranty were "courtesy to the customer". I am very disappointed in Honda. I loved my new Honda, now I'm stuck with a lemon. After much research I knew I wanted either a compact suv or sedan. I test drove the Rogue and CRV. They were nice but did not give me a feeling of excitement. I test drove the Accord not expecting to like the low seating position but to my surprise I loved it! For a 1.5 turbo it has great acceleration and feels very classy. The doors have a solid quality sound when you close them. I have received many compliments on this car. I have only put 600 miles on it but have no complaints. Averaging 33.8 on the gas mileage. Overall very happy and would recommend.

A lot of features attracted me to this car. The styling is great, Mustang inspired front, Audi RS7 inspired tail. Very roomy cabin and trunk. Semi-autonomous features that come standard, Android Auto integration etc. I have had the car for three weeks now, using it for a short daily commute and one highway trip. I am coming from a Toyota Prius and an Infiniti G35 before that. The car is far from perfect. I drive it mostly in Eco mode to conserve gas, and put it in Sport mode when merging onto traffic. Mileage I get is around 27 in the city, 35 on the highway. Things I miss from my previous cars: Having to fish out my key from the pocket (no proximity sensor), heated seats. Now the imperfections: Cabin noise at highway speeds, poorer quality sound system, static picking up local radio stations, creaking driver door latch, driver visor does not have an extension to block sun coming into your eyes, stiffening of the steering wheel combined with an overly sensitive lane departure warning causes me to have expend extra effort to steer to stay in lane.
