I love this car. The 278 hp engine is almost scary when you open it up. It's fast. But the best part of the car is how smooth it is. Cruising down the highway or on a winding mountain road, it's a joy to drive. It's got an awesome sound system, room in the trunk for four sets of golf clubs (and a pass through for when I need to buy 2 x 4 lumber), it looks great with the black leather, and it's rock solid.

I love this car! The CVT is different since I have driven autos my whole life, but I have come to love it! Great gas mileage on the highway, and decent mileage in town. If you have done your research you will know the 2.4L Earth Dreams engine that this model comes with is terrific, and if maintained correctly should last well over 150k miles. I do my own maintenance, and this vehicle is extremely easy to maintain by yourself (brake pad changes, rotors, oil changes, transmission fluid changes, coolant changes, etc.).

I have no complaints whatsoever about the Honda Accord that I own except it could have power seats as opposed to manual seat adjustment but other than that I love the car. From what I hear Honda generally manufactures very reliable cars which I'm most concerned about in a car. It's not a car that you going to turn heads or impressive but it's a plain car that I love and is very reliable. I have the base Honda LX which isn't on the same level as a EX, EX-L or Touring or a Sport Edition but I'm content with the trim that I have. It's lot more better than the raggedy piece of **** I used to own and that I'm definitely grateful for. I'm just lucky to have a reliable car and Honda delivers on that standard above and beyond. It's definitely not a car to overlook especially with the recent models from the past 5 to 6 years. Toyota Camry is a major rival of the Honda Accord and between the two I would prefer a Honda Accord always.

SPORTY, BUT SPARTAN ON INTERIOR FEATURES

WMLJR, 12/07/2021

2017 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl CVT)
0 of 0 people found this review helpful

The 2017 Honda Sport Special Edition is the sporty version of the Accord line. It is stylish and has a beautifully trimmed out interior that is spacious and comfortable. It comes with 19" tires and larger brakes for an exhilarating ride. The suspension is stiffer than the LX or EX, making for a harsher, but more controlled driving experience. The 189 horsepower inline 4 cylinder 2.4 liter engine is surprisingly peppy and gets remarkable gas mileage, especially on the highway. The Continuously Variable Transmission is smooth and responsive. The one drawback is the absence of a touch screen info system, thus no satellite connection and no loaded apps such as WAZE or SiriusXM. It is, however, Bluetooth capable allowing for apps to be run through an i-phone at somewhat of an inconvenience. The sound system is nothing special, which makes one wonder why Honda scrimped on the interior bells and whistles on this model. All in all a stylish, sporty, head turning ride.

It's a slow dog

2017 Honda Accord Sport 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

If you are used to a car that responds immediately when you give it gas you will be highly disappointed in this car. It's such a dog and so slow to respond when you give it gas to cross a intersection or getting on the freeway. It's a full size sedan and I feel it needs more power like a V6 to pull that much weight. In town gas milage is a big difference to the freeway miles. I only get about 19-21 in town, not great for a 4 cylinder. ALSO your door mirrors will fog up and get condensation on them often while driving in the winter. When you hit defrost I thought they would defrost as my past lower end cars and much older cars would. Nope it's a problem when driving on a freeway and they fog up as I drive. I expected more in a Accord Sport.

Engine Seizure!

2012 Accord exl - Engine Seizure! I had the air-bag recall done about 5 years ago. None of the air-bags deployed when the 2012 exl hit a telephone pole at 20 mph and broke the telephone pole in half!!! Beware!!!!!!! Another big problem with this 2012 exl was trying to cross lanes of traffic. If I didn’t have one foot on the break pedal and one on the gas to keep the engine revved-up, it would stall trying to take off! It was a very scary situation on many occasions. I finally found out about the class action lawsuit for the excessive oil consumption yesterday (1 Qt per 1,000 miles), 2 years after the engine sezure. I spoke with honda headquarters (1919 torrance blvd, torrance, ca 90501) today for an hour and a half. mostly on hold waiting for Alma to get her stupervisor Markita to come to the phone. Their telephone computer recognized my phone number even though I had never called before and knew I had a 2012 exl, but Alma acted like she didn't know anything... she asked me for my VIN number, but when I took a minute to find it, and asked why the computer knew it so why can’t you look at your computer she said the last four digits would do. She wasn't aware of any class action lawsuit for the excessive oil consumption, but later said my vin number was not included. I explained in detail to both of them how the $7,000 engine replacement and the three months of not having my exl and all the time I had to spend trying to get any help probably cost me somewhere around $100,000. I explained that I had 5 hondas previous to this 2012 that I had driven to the moon and back (350,000 miles), and I would buy another honda if they would help with my $7,000 cost of the engine replacement, but they adimately expressed to me that they would not take any responsibility for the engine sezure, or the faulty airbags! After hanging up with Markita, I looked up and found the guys phone number who was the main person involved with the “Honda Motor Excessive Oil Consumption Class Action Lawsuit” in California. I called his cell phone and he was very nice, but explained that all he got from all the time and effort was $500, free oil changes, and spark plugs as long as he owned the Honda. He had given it to his parents, and bought a Tesla. Not with the $500 of course… SMH [contact info removed] If you want to get the run-around yourself! Todd Faircloth Macon, GA

I absolutely love this car. I have the Sport SE Manual model. It is the easiest car that I have ever owned. I drive 50,000 miles a year for work and it just goes and goes. I have the oil and filter changed every 5K miles and the manual gearbox oil every 35K. Spark Plugs take 15 minutes to replace doing it myself, engine air filter less than 2 minutes and the cabin air filter about 5 minutes. Super east to work on and lots of parts available just about anywhere.

2017 EX-L 6 cylinder has 50k miles and I love the car. Lately the last 6 months the car hesitate when I accelerate from stop light and on the open highway and when I pass someone there are times where it will hesitate. No Engine light comes on and my mechanic has looked over everything and fuel injectors are clean and added fuel injector cleaner. Has anyone had similar problems like this where it has hesitate when accelerated. It doesn't do it all the time and cannot figure out the problem. M from Iowa!

Bought the V6 EX-L new in 2017 and is easily the best car I’ve ever owned. Put about 10K miles per year on it, and I want it to last forever! Smooth, great power, gets over 35 MPG on highway! Love the dual screen info system… Have had no trouble with this car. Highly recommend!

Very Good Car with Minor Issues

MathMan, 04/13/2024
2017 Honda Accord LX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl CVT)
0 of 0 people found this review helpful

Bought a CPO 2017 Accord LX (2.4) a bit over three years ago. My wife drives it daily, we take it on longer trips, and we have put about 25K on it in just over 3 yrs. These cars are not perfect, but they are close. Probably the biggest disappointment is the life of the brakes, especially in wintry areas. The rear calipers rust badly, which makes the built-in e-brake stick. Once this happens, it needs new calipers and rotors. I replaced all four rotors and all four calipers at 50k - way too early. But parts are everywhere and not too expensive. I used drilled/slotted rotors just for kicks. Engine/transmission have zero issues and the CVT fluid is easy to change and not too expensive at the Honda parts counter. As for driving, it drives well and handles snow beautifully with Blizzaks mounted. CVT easily gets over 40 mpg on long highway drives. We plan to drive this as long as we can. Its a bit low to the ground and we are getting old...
