Used 2004 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan w/Leather (2.4L 4cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
MONEY WELL SPENT!!
Suffering from owning a horrific 2010 Chevrolet impala and a nightmarish 2006 Suzuki Verona I needed a reliable beater for my daily preferably a Honda or even toyota. Owned a 10' civic years ago and loved Hondas reliability but soon realized the accord is better than the civic in every way possible.. I found this 04' gem for sale from a private owner with 189k for $2,350. Had minimal cosmetic wear n tear & came w/ leather heated seats, sunroof and 16" aluminum rims. Family owned, Maintenance was kept up it and went through inspection only needing a headlight bulb... After 2yrs of owning this dinosaur I've had to replace the oil pressure sensor ($30), Power steering pump ($75), Starter ($170), Upper radiator hose ($20) and a few aged dry rotted plastic parts like intake gasket ($10) & a air cleaner intake sleeve ($40) so far. NO COMPLAINTS HERE Maintenance is easy and affordable, Parts are dirt cheap and easy to find. Installed powerstop performance drilled and slotted rotors with the powerstop pads and you couldn't rear end someone if you wanted to... I'D BUY ANOTHER 04' JUST TO HAVE FOR BACKUP!
Honda Does No Wrong....AGAIN
I've had the 4 cylinder EX with leather for about a month now, about 700 miles of driving. I cannot say enough about the car, it's just does everything right. Having driven Civics for the last ten years, the Accord is a huge step up in every department. The 2.4 liter 4 is plenty torquey (and smooth), so I had no need for the V6. That saved me a couple of grand to get the EX with leather, which feels like a much more expensive car. Everything is laid out well, and Honda adds nice touches like stainless steel interior accents and XM radio. I just don't see how they crammed this much car into a $24,000 pricepoint.
Great, reliable, soccer-mom car
Bought my '04 in '07 with 34k miles. After 4 years & 100,000 miles the car has certainly fulfilled it's mission very well. I originally evaluated this car against a BMW 3 or 5 series. I dearly wanted the latter but considered my budget & driving needs - I live in So Cal and would be making regular trips to Las Vegas for work. I envisioned myself in Baker with a broke-down Bimmer - calling in to work to say I can't make it due to car problems doesn't fly (I'm a pilot). I searched for and found a 4-cyl. Accord-EX with leather and a stick. The stick to give myself at least the illusion of driving a real car. The 4-cyl. model for fuel economy and better reported reliability than the 6.
tuff to beat
My 3rd Accord. My first choice was a Mazda6 because I don't love the looks of the Accord. The deal on the 6 fell through so I went with old reliable. I'm glad I did. Solid build. Engine is terrific for a 4 cyl.....I'm about 6'3" and I fit fine with the moonroof. The ride is very quiet and comfortable.
Problems since day 1
My wife and I have only had are new Honda for exactly 1 month today, and we have already had our car towed back to the dealership twice. The first time our fuel injector went out on the vechicle while we were driving it on the interstate. Less than a week after getting the car back we had new problem and gauges had to be replaced. This is our first Honda. We purchased this vehicle because we wanted a reliable car that we would be able to count on for along time come to find out we weren't even able to count on it in the first month. Beware!!!
