ITS A GOOD CAR, BUT NOT A GREAT CAR
Excellent gas mileage, decent sound system, relatively comfortable interior.A bit noisy on the interstate.OUR DARK BLUE PAINT HAS A NUMBER OF DEFECTS OR MISSES. Buy silver. One week out of the showroom, replaced powersteering pump. At 4000 miles winshield scarred by faulty wipers, no recourse at agency, 13000 miles, engine tappets chattering loudly.
Honda Accord Review
The Accord is reliable and fun. Responsive and steady. Great gas economy and not a single problem so far.

4th HONDA EX
I just wanted to express my happiness of yet another honda purchase. I traded in the 1999 LX and got the EX this time. I think the new styles look like a toyota and the fact I got the 1250 rebate as well as 4.75% for 60 months. I have no regrets, I got the green this time, last time I had the huntermist. Go snatch your honda before its too late!
5 years old and very few problems...
My 2002 has been a very reliable car. I have the 4-cyl. and it is peppy enough to be fun and safe. I did have the service light come on, twice, because of a fault in the air- bag system. The dealer fixed it both times, under warranty. Also, I had to replace the battery, at around the four year point. Aside from regularly scheduled maintenance, that's it! I've owned over a dozen cars and I've never had a more trouble-free experience.
Great car, expect many years out of it!
I bought this car from Roadsport Honda in Toronto in July of 2006. I have put about 22,000 km on it so far already and have to say that it is a far cry from my 98 Malibu junk. The honda is responsive and gives pretty good fuel economy. In the cold winter I get about 25 mpg (I did the calculation), Summer gives me about 29-30mpg. Not bad. Good automatic, very reliable vehicle. Does everything better than my 98 Chev Malibu could do. It felt like I was stepping into an entirely different class of vehicle.
Solid car
Excellent car. Brakes and engine are well balanced compared to most competing vehicles. The car feels solid but not heavy and moves nibly and smoothly. A better value than the Camry and without the arrogance of Toyota dealerships.
2002 Accord LX
We bought this car in 2004 with 30K miles. It is moderately equipped (all pwr, auto, 4cyl.). Three years later, it has only needed gas, oil, some new rubber, and a brake switch. The seats are a touch firm for my taste, but I only drive it on road trips (wife's car). Great gas mileage. Acceptably quick (typical 4cyl sluggishness off the line, but great passing power). This has been a fantastic car for us. Few complaints.
It's my baby...
I am extremely satisfied!
GREAT CAR, TOO BAD THE DEALER IS TRASH
Even though the 2003 model will be awesome,I went for the price incentive I got because i knew about the major model change this summer. It's a sedan...with lots of room for four adults, leather, even distribution of the HVAC,quality everything, quality everything,I don't have to worry about anything failing, and for a sedan...it's flat-out fast (quick and higher speed cruising). The only thing that sucks about the car is that I couldn't buy it from a Lexus dealership!
Just bought a HONDA LOVE IT!
We just bought a Accord Value Package. I orginally wanted the Accord DX, but no dealers had any, one dealer had the value package which is a DX model with a lot of options. I paid 16,300. It only comes in 2 colors silver and blue. You need to take a look at what comes standard, there is chrome trim around the windows, I thought so what until I saw the cars that had the black rubber around the windows. The automatic stick shift has a nice wood grain, of course its imitation, around it. Has a CD player and cassatte, standard. I think they forgot I have a few 8 tracks in the garage. Back seat flips down and locks so the kids can fool with it.
2002 Honda Accord EX review
Very pleasant riding vehicle. Very good visibility. I had no major problems with the car. Handles excellently on dry and wet pavement.
Great!!!
Great!!! This car is amazing! I love how it rides, the interior is amazing! Everything about this car is supberb! Keep up the good work Honda!
Too soon to tell, but . . .
I bought this car for $15,700 in August and, quite expectedly, have experienced no problems to date. The car is suprisingly spacious (my '88 Accord was about the size of an '02 Civic 4- door). Although only 150 hp, the 5- speed enables decent acceleration. For a car that won't leave you stranded on the highway, you can't beat the price (though the DX/VP is probably a better bargain if you can handle rolling up your own windows). Very easy to drive.
Great Value
the 4th Honda I have owned. Buy one you will become addicted to the peace of mind!
I am disappointed
The car idles rough and they said these idle rough and that other people have complained, the engine is very loud on take off after sitting for several hours and they said that is the way these are and other people have complained they are saying it is a valve noise. It rides very bumpy over even smooth roads. Steering at 65 is awful it seems like you are constantly fighting to keep the car straight I don! t know if it is the aerodynamics or what. I have always heard what great cars these are and I am trying to figure out why everybody is so satisfied with these.
Need a better transmission
The transmission began to jerk after 50000 miles and totally broke after 85000 miles. Spent more than $22K to get it fixed and now the driving is very smooth. There was also some transmission issue in my another Honda Accord (1996 model), which was totaled by a drunkard. Everything else is good.
Excellent Family Car
Well designed and well built car. Powerful but wasteful engine (considering that it is a HONDA). Silk smooth transmission. The low rev torque is kind of inadequate. My old ford taurus has more low rev torque. Quiet ride on even road. Getting nosier on rough road. The toyota camry I test driven do not have this problem. The body is kind of dent prone. You should be very careful even when you are washing you car. One of the best value for family car. No wonder, it was the best selling passenger vehicle in 2001.
V6 Accord
This is an excellant riding vehicle. The cab rides quieter than previous models and I like that everything is in reach of the driver. This model also comes with the new TCS system. Some negatives are the sounds system, although the EX copmes with 6 speakers and the very nice factory radio there just does not seem to be enough power and sound. Additionally, the leather seats are rough and look synthetic.
best all around
this is the best all around value for a sedan. No nickle and diming by dealership, car comes with everything you need.
Great choice!
I think this Accord is one of the best vehicles I have owned. It has a great ride and is very comfortable. I looked at several other cars (Acura, Toyota, and Nissan) and for the price it just couldn't be beat.
Unbeatable deal
I just bought the 2002 EX used. It is exactly like my 2001 I bought new in late 2000. It is my sixth Honda and will not be my last. As before, I am still amazed at the build quality, power, economy, layout, design and dependability of these cars. The 2002 looks almost brand new inside and out. The seats are still in excellent shape as well all other trim parts. I traded the 2001 in on an SUV because we needed a larger vehicle, but I am so glad to get back into an Accord. Compared to anything it's still the best around. I love the way the fuel gauge doesn't move very much. We're planning on trading the SUV next year on a 2008 Accord.
Reliability õ¿õ¬ Safety
Quick and responsive and safe 3 great qualities
BUY ONE
Bought this ex v6 from a local dealer about a year ago with 54k on the odometer. Today there is just over 90k. Ive gone on several trips to the mountains and MI over the year. The v-6 has great acceleration, the traction control comes in handy with this powerhouse. The tranny at times hesitates and has issues finding the gear it wants but thats only when its cold. The ride is great, in the twisty roads of the mountains it handles like a sports car but smooth like glass on the highway. I would suggest this car to anyone, in the past year and 36k later no issues what so ever, plan on running this one into the ground.
Ok but............
Don't get me wrong, I like the car very much, but had a problem with the airbag light that required installation of tons of new computer parts. The only reason I would consider another honda after that is that the dealer's service was great including renting a car at their cost when it wasnt completed. I do like the car very much though
Fun Value
My first non US big 3 car and I love it. Fun to drive, very reliable. I have over 100,000 miles and I'm still on my 1st set of brakes!
Worth the extra money
Given the great deals right now on 2002 models, I spent a little extra to get the EX rather than the LX. The EX's added safety features (ABS and side air bags) plus the ammenities (6 CD changer, moon roof, etc.) made it worth the extra money.
Another great Honda
Loved my 97 Civic so much I bought my wife an 02 Accord EX. Fun to drive, roomy interior, huge trunk. Plenty of features, as usual on EXs. Realiability has been great so far, but it's only got 3900 miles. Transmission shifts perfectly smooth, doors shut with that great vault "thud". The dealer we bought from, South Tacoma Honda, in Tacoma, WA, has a great internet sales program - NO ONE else in the area would even match their FIRST offer via email - I didn't believe it, so I wasted 3 days trying to shop their offer around before I finally bought from them.
Honda
This is a wonderful car. I have enjoyed owning it very much.
Still a top choice
I have close to 80k miles on this car and it hasn't shown any sign of age. With the 5-speed,4cyl, I average around 33-35 mpg and have several times bumped 600 miles on a tank of gas. This car is super-roomy and drives well with a full load. Consumer Reports honestly believes that the LX-V6 is a better choice than the EX-4cyl. I couldn't disagree more. Why give up a keyless remote, moonroof, alloy wheels and two extra speakers just for a little extra zip and a little worse gas mileage?
Classy/fun to drive ride.
Ulitmatelly an awesome sweet ride.
Excellent car!!!!
So far so good, like it so much!!! One minus point: Mileage is 25/gallen, which is a little lower than what I expected.
Jusr for the color!
I had a 92 one before and when I wanted to change my car, I directly went to a Honda dealership. because LX doesn't come in red color, I got the SE. it doesn't have anything more than LX in performance but I love the alloy wheels and audio system. strange thing is that, in cold weather, the car is not as smooth as it is in the warm weather! specially when it's cold, there are some rattle sounds from dashboard that dealer said it's normal!
Honda Accord EX V6
The 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 is an outstanding automobile. No vehicle in this class gives you more "bang for the buck." It drives like a much more expensive car and the quality of workmanship is outstanding. Since driving off the Dealers lot,I have found nothing out of place or wrong with it. It drives and handles like a dream.
My Honda
It only has a little over 3000 miles, ut seems to be a tarke for people. People on cell phones have run into me 3 times. Last time was in a parking lot at a stand alone Walreens. Her 1992 just suffered some Teal colored paint to her back bumper, but she almost deployed my right & left side air bag as she knocked me so hard. Moral is Don't Talk & Drive. I choose Honda after My daughter had totaled one & all 5 kids inside were buckled in & although the car was totalled the kids were all fine!
WOWZERS!
wow this car is great go out and get one before they all fly away!
THE BEST
I OWN A 1998 AND LOVE IT SO MUCH THAT I CANNOT THINK OF ANY MAKE 2002 TO BUY THAT IS BETTER.THE VALUE,RESALE VALUE,QUALITY,RIDE,ERGONOMICS, GAS MILEAGE,HANDLING,COMFORT ARE SIMPLY PERFECT.IF YOU BUY THIS CAR YOU WILL LOVE IT AND NEVER BUY DOMESTIC AGAIN GUARANTEED!THIS CAR CAN GIVE ANY CAR IN ANY CLASS A MAJOR RUN FOR THE MONEY.THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ACCORD AND AMERICAN PRODUCTS IS NIGHT AND DAY.THE FEW DOLLARS PAID UP FRONT EQUATES TO LESS HEADACHES AND LESS OVERALL COST IN THE LONG RUN.
WOW
WOW
I'll sleep easy but.......
Smooth, honest drive but vanilla styling and not quite the Honda build quality I am used to. Excellent gas mileage but not as quiet as the new Camry.
Fabulous Honda!!
Love my car!!! This is only my second car. I have had her about three years. I do not keep up on the maintenance as I should and yet she has never given me any major problems. The only problem i have had is the driver window motor went out, easy fix did it myself, and replaced battery (normal). No other problems. This is an excellent starter car.
LOVE MY HONDA!
this is the third Honda I have owned and the first Accord. The seating is VERY comfortable and stylish and the exterior is classy looking. Even though everyone and their brother owns one, it's easy to see why. Just a great, dependable car all around and inexpensive compared to some competing, less reliable models.
Best Car Ever Made
The car is great and it's just what I wanted. The 4-cylinder feels like a V-6 and it's very quiet compared to the GM cars. I would definetly recommend anyone to buy a Honda Accord.
What a wonderful car
although the mileage is low
Another Solid Accord
The 2002 Special Edition Accord is a rock solid car. 25-30 MPG. Exceptionally low maintenance. Mammoth trunk. A bit lacking in power (no V6), but more than capable. Still elegant inside and out after 6 years. Odometer and Clock are unusable after dark due to poor choice in LCD technology. Comfortable ride both on highway and in town. Plenty of room for the whole family. Cup holder door latch is flimsy and will probably drive you nuts. Another great Accord to add to the list of Accords I've owned. Buy with confidence.
RATTLES!!!
SQUEAKS: The car has a bunch of rattles coming from the sunroof area. Honda mechanics have ignored this. They say it's part of the new model intros. where you get such things. Well, the squeaks should not happen on a car this price!! I had a Toyota Corolla for 15 years and 200,000 miles running thru my years in college. NEVER (even today) have I heard a squeak or rattle! ACCELERATION: WEAK. NO torque.
2002 Honda Accord SE Sedan
Overall an excellent car. Great on highway rides or around town. The build quality is excellent. Engine could be a little quieter.
This is a smart buy
This is a car that is relatively cheap has good quality and last long. I think is a great value for your money.
Wonderful car
First time Honda owner. Through all my research, reading and test driving. This car is hard to beat. My V6 runs silky smooth and quiet. It speaks softly but carries a big stick. Fit and finish both inside and out is above average. My major gripe is the sales personnel. I felt like a carcass among predators. The car sells itself; why do they act like vultures?
solid family sedan
I sold my '92 LX Coupe for the '02 four door before my son was born and it was a great decision. The car has a very roomy interior and ample cargo space. It drives very smoothly and the engine noise gives you a good feel of the car when you rev it up. Very quiet on the highway. Even though its not the EX the stereo is plenty loud and clear. The nose of the car sits so low and visibility while driving is excellent. I still own an 89 Lxi and that car is a dream. 120k in NYC and the engine is still purring.
Proud to own an Accord
Accord is an excellent value car. No doubt, it's the most reliable, dependable car and has great resell value. If you are looking to buy an Accord. Good choice. Go for it. Can't go wrong. Get the EX-V6 if you can. I must say I regret for not getting the EX-V6 as my wife's. The reason I picked up the LX-V6 because it's less $$ and it's in the lot. From my point of view and experience, the EX-V6 worths every extra penny and it's a more enjoinable car. If you decide to go with 4 cycl. model, get the SE for best bang for $$.
This car is extremely reliable
I drove this car off the showroom floor in 2002. I can't say enough great things about it. For 2002, this car was loaded and came with 6 disc changer, moonroof, rear spoiler, and leather seats. I drive this car all around VA and get about 33-35 MPG on highway. I can usually get about 450- 500 miles on a single tank. It's unfortunate the newer Accords don't get the mileage this one has, however I guess with the increase in size, you compromise MPG.
