My sixth Accord

This is my sixth Accord. My experience with all of them has been very good, mainly because they're predictable. I haven't had any problems. This one, a V-6 EX with leather, is fun to drive and more comfortable than any I've had to this point, and my lease rate is great. I could buy a more expensive car, but why? I love the quality, comfort and the styling.

Our first two Honda's were civics - reliable cars with great gas mileage. We decided to trade one in to upgrade to the Accord - needed more passenger room and desperately wanted an automatic after 8 yrs with a manual in southern california traffic. Our Accord is very roomy, good on gas mileage (our civics were better, but can't complain), and great pick-up for a 4 cylinder automatic. It actually has more power than our friend's Accord DX manual. We absolutely love Honda and can't wait till they come out with the Honda Pilot. Thinking of trading in last civic for Honda's new SUV.

I drove this car off the showroom floor in April 2002, and it has been completely trouble free. Did the major service at 105K miles. Prior to spending the $1K I thought about getting a new car, but recognized that it would probably service my needs for another seven years at substantially less of a cost than a new car (with higher insurance rates, registration rates, sales tax, etc.). True, it lacks the excitement and this model is a common sight on the road. But that helps explain its magic. A wise choice for any consumer truly concerned about the total cost of ownership.

Traded in my 2001 Civic for this car. Glad that I did. Suspension is MUCH better and it is a much quieter car. Very happy with this vehicle. This is my first Accord, and my fourth Honda. This should tell you something about the quality of Honda.

No blind spots! Like the power, esp. like that both front seats adjust automatically. Dash is easy to read & all functions are at your finger tips. Back seat is roomier than friends Lexus. Like ability to lock trunk, fuel, back seat & pass-thru when leaving car with valet key.

Not only is this the best car I have ever owned, but the dealership that I purcased it from was a pleasure from start to finish. I have 4 other Honda dealerships closer to my house, and Mahwah Honda is actuallly over the stae line from where I live. But from minute one they were helpful, informative, and fair. They bend over backwards to please me...EVEN AFTER THE PURCHASE!! I am a very good negotiator and have the resouces to find the real cost of a car (even calculating in holdback fees). I told them what I wanted to pay, they said yes..no haggle no going nack and forth with the manager..no slimy salesman tricks...High class all the way.

This Honda Accord is a great over all purchase. The interior I have is aftermarket leather, in which is higher quality than the manufacturer's option. Gas mileage is great. I can drive from L.A. to Vegas and back on one full tank of gas and still have some left for the work week!! This Honda is good quality and craftmanship in comparison to some other cars in the same price range.

This is my first car and I'm very happy with my purchase. Other cars with the same level of equipment would have cost me at least $5000 more. The V6 engine is strong and quiet. The manual states that regular unleaded gasoline is needed, unlike other competing cars that require premium. Despite what others say about the 'bland styling', the car is fun to drive, its a sedan but being a Honda it has a sporty feel to it. Visibility all around is excellent with no blind spots. Fit and finish is good as well.

I am pleasantly surprised how many standard options come with this model. V-6 engine, traction control, 6 CD changer, and , best of all, a thermostat climate control system are features that make this car a remarkable value at $23,500. (It is a better value than the Acura TL for example.) Previous Accords that I owned had the power windows and moon roof, so I am accustomed to those options in a car. I live in New England so the addition of traction control makes winter driving less frustrating.

Got for the same price as a Saturn L300, (V6), and much more of a car for the money. Very smooth riding car. It is exactly what I wanted, a reliable, 4 door sedan. So what if it is bland looking. For those that want more pizzaz, opt for the coupe or another car.

Just purchased our second accord after our '91 DX had to be put to rest due to my conscious of not running over a cat. It was just shy of the 200k mark and would have gone way past that if not for the recent mishap. Although I have only 50 miles on the new accord LX V6 it already shows signs of a vehicle that will last us another 10 years. For the price you can't go wrong with this vehicle. For the price, go with the Accord.

It was my dream to by a reliable car, although I never thought I could afford a Honda. Well, I had the opportunity to buy my Honda four years ago when it had 25000 miles on it. Now it has 75000 miles on it, and I still have not had any problems. It runs like a top. My goal is to reach 300,000 miles, and it seems very likely that that will happen. I have been very careful to maintain it. Although some Accords have had transmission problems, I hope with mine it will never happen. It seems that with Hondas, usually if they are maintained, they will run for a long time.

Excellent Car for the money. Considered Volvo S60, Acura TL, Infiniti G35 but cost was minimum of $6k less...You get a great car without the snob appeal! Considered the Toyota Camry but could not get comfortable with dealer cost..one dealer quoted 3% over cost and was $1,000 over the price that another dealer quote 4% over invoice. Thank You Toyota...you just sold the Honda!

After test driving the Accord EX and the Altima SE many times over several weekends, I bought the Accord. Even in its 5th year, the Accord is still a better car and a better value. I got the Nissan dealer down to the price I wanted but I still went with the Accord. Why? $3,500 less with more std features, and a much better safety rating. The new style of the Altima will wear thin after its first year and people will be wishing they had waited for the 2003 redesigned Accord. I wish I could have waited myself, but my 1989 Civic (289,284 miles) couldn't last until Sept/Oct.

Beware the Paint

I like the car, we own the EX-L with all the goodies except the V-6. It's a nice car but we've had really bad luck with the paint. In the first year, we developed a rust spot near the passenger tail light on the trunk that the dealer gladly fixed. Next, about 4 months ago I was washing bugs off the front fascia when a dime sized portion of paint sloughed off. The dealer and the district rep both refused to fix the problem saying it was likely caused by a gravel striking the material. This is kind of odd that a pebble would cause this much damage, especially when we only drive on paved roads??? Really hurt my level of satisfaction.

This car is the best value out there. For $22,500 I got a car with good exterior styling, a great interior, impeccable fit and finish, great power, great handling, awesome reliability, and absolutely great resale value. This is my 3rd Accord - I owned a '97 LX and a '99 EX previously. I absolutely LOVE the power of the V-6 on the '02. I have test driven Camry, Maxima, Taurus, BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Lexus IS 300, Infiniti I30, Mercedes C, E & S classes (all but the Benz's at Edmunds live!), and dollar for dollar the Accord blows them all away. There is no better value out there.

I've owned Accords for 21 years. THIS WILL BE MY LAST ONE! I've had the driver seat replaced 3 times. The cushion becomes crushed and leans to left. Honda refuses to fix it anymore. The drivers seat doesn't go back far enough, I'm only 5'10". What happened to your quality? Now small things are going. For example, overhead light doesn't come on when door opens, headlight warning buzzer and key alarm doesn't work either. The gas peddle is too high above the floor; very dangerous. Overall driver comfort/room is awful i.e. too narrow & arm resting on door lock knob(why the design change? That was dumb.) I'm already talking to the Camry salesman & will buy one.

Only hit 25,000 miles so far, hoping to add another zero to the end of that number by the time I need a new one. Typical Honda, my forth one and still perfect for the price. Sure it'll never be a BMW, and the interior will never be a Lexus, but for $20,000 it's on par with the best of them. Mechanically flawless as usual, I continue to be happy with my purchase, and would recommend the Accord to anyone

Solid But Uninspiring - Accord EX 5-spd

My Accord is dead-solid reliable, but the driving experience is plain-vanilla and road noise is a problem. The ride is relatively quiet on smooth pavement, but when the macadam gets coarse, it sets up quite a roar in the passenger compartment. I've experienced poor road-noise isolation in other Honda products, including a relative's Acura. My Accord also is generating a disappointing number of rattles and squeaks. Fit and finish otherwise are very good, and the quality of the interior materials is superb. If reliability and economical operation are what you're after, this is your car. If you're looking for pulse-quickening performance and silent running, look elsewhere.

When you drive an Accord, your biggest worry.. is getting doorbashed by the coupe you park next to... and that is really, really nice. The car is common, but I personalized it, getting a white one with leather and 4-cyl manual trans (makes a smallish, economical engine quite zippy and fun). I putting on some patriotic license plate frames... it's Accord heaven.

Own a 2001 EX 4Cyl. Overall, it is a nice car. Regret to pick black color. It looks nice at first but when there is a door ding, it shows clearly; And also it will show dirt clearly too if not washed frequently. The car is so far trouble-free. It drives nicely. The suspension is bit stiff when I feel really tired. It holds the corner or curve well with precise steering. Transmission is ok. It cruises quietly, effortlessly at 70-75mph. However, when it starts from stop, it is sluggish at 15-20mph.

The Accord offers good value, but I am not without some complaints. Despite mainly highway mileage, only 26 mpg with 4 cylinder --- not good. Have had problems with cruise control since delivery. Dealer claims no problem and after 3rd attempt refused to do anything more about it --- so much for acclaimed customer service. Finish on alloy wheels has tarnished badly and has actually "peeled" off --- again, my loss. However, the car is very dependable and offers a comfortable ride. Interior is very nicely designed and car offers driver a sense of control and confidence.

We just bought a Accord Value Package. I orginally wanted the Accord DX, but no dealers had any, one dealer had the value package which is a DX model with a lot of options. I paid 16,300. It only comes in 2 colors silver and blue. You need to take a look at what comes standard, there is chrome trim around the windows, I thought so what until I saw the cars that had the black rubber around the windows. The automatic stick shift has a nice wood grain, of course its imitation, around it. Has a CD player and cassatte, standard. I think they forgot I have a few 8 tracks in the garage. Back seat flips down and locks so the kids can fool with it.

I bought my Accord new because they are supposed to be low maintenance cars that run forever. After warranty expiration, I learned that "forever" is slang for until your warranty expires. Even though my car is six years old, it only has 40,000 miles on it and I'm replacing the transmission. I've learned that this is a very common problem among hondas. It does have a flimsy front cup holder that won't stay latched and has a lot of road noise when driving at high speeds. With only four cylinders, it's a little gutless when getting onto the freeway. All these things could be overlooked if I could just get the transmission to let drive it.

The car idles rough and they said these idle rough and that other people have complained, the engine is very loud on take off after sitting for several hours and they said that is the way these are and other people have complained they are saying it is a valve noise. It rides very bumpy over even smooth roads. Steering at 65 is awful it seems like you are constantly fighting to keep the car straight I don! t know if it is the aerodynamics or what. I have always heard what great cars these are and I am trying to figure out why everybody is so satisfied with these.

I bought this car for $15,700 in August and, quite expectedly, have experienced no problems to date. The car is suprisingly spacious (my '88 Accord was about the size of an '02 Civic 4- door). Although only 150 hp, the 5- speed enables decent acceleration. For a car that won't leave you stranded on the highway, you can't beat the price (though the DX/VP is probably a better bargain if you can handle rolling up your own windows). Very easy to drive.
