energizer bunny
I bought this car when I was in graduate school and for 140,000 miles and 10 years, it's been consistently reliable. Every year I waited for problems to give me a good excuse to buy a new car, but it keeps on going! Repairs have been extremely minimal, and only regular maintenance required.
Runs too well to let go
I want a new car, but can't justify it. This car costs almost nothing to maintain and provides reliable transportation. Bought the car new in '93 and average 10k miles a year. I get 30-32 mpg during my daily commute on local roads and 37+ on the interstate. Replaced the alternator twice (now with lifetime replacement from dealership) and the brake pads up front. I need to repair the falling headliner. Oh, and the dome light has been a pain from the beginning. I did have to replace the rear speakers and the stereo display no longer lights. Outside of that, I have no complaints!
Great Little Car
I drive 134 miles/day to/from work. Currently has 248,900 miles and still climbing. Regular maintenance, replaced struts at 240,000 miles (wow), very minor new parts: alternator, battery, stereo/tape, and minor manifold weld (original muffler and tailpipe). As of last week, worst fuel mileage was 31 mpg!! Plan on buying new one in July 2002. The last year for Chevy/Prizm.
And going, and going......
Great little car, bought used for $2,400 with 120,000 miles. Only had to replace an alternator, and the shocks in the 65,000 miles we put on it. Took two of us from Oklahoma to Chicago with no problems twice, and many other trips with superb gas mileage. Very cold air and comfort level that ignores its price and entry-car level status. The engine is a bit underpowered, requiring well thought out passing manouvers, (it helps to punch off the A/C before hand too. Heh.) No sqeaks or rattles through 180,000 miles, before I traded her in. Actually fun to drive despite the lack of power. I miss the gas mileage. Great little car.
Dependable
This has been a good car. I have 89000 miles on it and hope to get another. Other than changing a starter at 64000 miles and I just changed the exhaust manifold. I would consider buying another Toyota product {This car is not a Chevy}.
