I bought this car in '95 new with 8 miles on it. 2012, still running strong. Mind you, I have replaced the engine ($1,200, first engine went after 150,000 with normal maint.) and timing belt. Other than normal things, I love my little purple Geo. Easy to reach everything. My first stick shift and best car I have ever owned. Our oldest chil even learned how to drive in it! It got her home WITHOUT a belt! LOVE MY GEO!

95 Metro - A real work horse

I purchased my 95 Geo second hand from the dealer. The car was first sold in 3/96 and I purchased it about a year later. I think that the purple color had something to do with the slow sale. It never got the 49MPG that the five speed 3 cylinder was supposed to get but with air on I got 38 MPG regularly. I have had the clutch replaced and one set of tires replaced. I just had it repainted this week and I am planning to drive it for another 130,000 miles. I drove it from San Diego CA to Riverside CA every day for five years and it never caused me any problem.(150 miles round trip-70+MPH) I can recommend this car to anyone provided it has been maintained per the manual - great car.

Not the most comfortable car in the world the interior of the car is cheaply made which is very clear, over all for the price great car is good. Purchased the car when my wife and I got married in 1995 all we could afford at the time now we are selling it 10 years down the road with nearly 150,000 miles and not one single mechanical problem, regular oil changes and check ups has kept this car in top condition. Was never a big fan of the car but loved the gas mileage, I almost hate to see it go, it is being replaced with a 2005 Chevy Avalanche and the gas is certainly not the same.

The Geo Metro is a great car and has provided me with great service for many years. I haven't had any probelms with it only the air conditionr switch when i first bought it. I took it back to the dealer at least 3 times before the probems was corrected. About 2 years ago I paid the delaerto fix it agin and now the air is out again. About 2 1/2 months ago I took to the delaer to have my front lights on the driver side fixed. Switch was out completely, okthe than those minor problems I like my car a lot.

I got this car in 2002 with 49,000 miles and am absolutely amazed at how well it has served me for 7 years. I've never stalled, never broken down, never hesitated starting (even in single digit temps) never overheated (even in 90+ degree weather). I lived in a remote area of the Cascades where there were serious snow storms and I faired really well! I actually moved across country in this car and was astounded at the storage capacity. My complaints: #1 The air vent is a really poor design and the cheap plastic warps marking it hard to get a connection (ie air does not blow out of the vents consistantly). #2 No cup holders in the car is ridiculous. #3 Very very basic car design.

This car won't quit. I work for FEMA and have taken it to the keys three times on the job for hurricanes work. Yeah I even did Katrina with it. I've been all over the us in this car. I have 155,000 miles on a three cyc engine. I pulled it out of the junkyard about 6 years ago and put a front bumper on when it only had 49,000 miles on the engine. One man's junk is now another man's treasure. In six years I've watched my friends buy and sell their cars, I still have my car. It might not pick up a date but that's what rentals are for. We need to keep this car around.

I'm Crying Over My Geo

My husband bought this car in 97. He was its second owner. I took over driving it four years ago and even when we bought a new car, I wanted to drive the Geo. But this weekend, a guy hit my car and the now its worth less than it would cost to fix it. This car has given us almost 9 years AFTER being paid off. It gets 40 mpg easily and I don't even know how to think about replacing it. In my mind, what replaces a car that was reliable even with 140k on it with NO major repairs? BUY this car, but don't get hit by someone with Safe Auto insurance!

A great car for basic transportation. Inexpensive to own, low on insurance, fuel, and maintenance. Handles fine on slick roads.I have had nothing major go wrong in 3 years of driving it! As the smallest on the road, I'm not convinced the airbags or seatbelts will save lives. I've been looking into getting a safer car, but I am fearful that it won't be as dependable or efficient.

I own his clone model Pontiac Firefly for 1 year, made 15000 miles and no troubles yet. This car is surprisely great for winter driving. Excellent control in snow and ice for a very light car and starts great even at - 20F. Not good in high winds tough.

This car is just awesome! 175,800 miles and still kickin'! A bit worn, but reliable as the day it was bought. Needs axles at the moment but it's still on the originals. Maintenance has been excellent. New clutch in 2003 and just scheduled maintenance in between. Doesn't get there fast, but you will get there. Ride is stiff, but drives like a go cart. Just point it and it goes where you want. This car has been on the interstate, city streets and in the woods where only a goat would go. May not handle it with grace, but gets the job done. My hat is off to Suzuki for building such a tough little car! By the way the engine is original and never been torn down. Still getting 40-42 mpg.

Tired of driving a Burb to work at $15 a day in gas, I bought a Metro. First time I filled the tank when it was down to 1/4 full and it only took 6 gallons I couldn't stop smiling! Surprising head and leg room.

Miss My Metro

I got my Metro from my dad with my license in 97 with 9800 miles on it. Over the following 5 years I racked the mileage up to 88k, mostly in trips up and down the east coast and from NJ to WV back and forth to school. Shortly after I got the car I put a stereo in it (to replace the backseat boombox it had in it) and ended up with a 500w system with 2 subs - this car rocked. I managed to get the car airborne on one occasion and used it to off-road on dozens of occasions. Everytime I got in that car, it was a thrill for me and my friends. I've now been without for 3 and a half years, and I miss driving this little car more and more every day. Long live Rebel the Metro!
