My Troublesome Taurus

I bought this SES with a DOHC engine used in '03. It currently has 104,000 miles on it as I drive a lot. I've had problems like other reviews. Replaced two oxygen sensors at 70,000 miles. Torque converter on the transmission went bad and then a sensor went bad causing a problem that appeared to be the transmission again at 100,000 miles. One window has never worked -- won't pay $200 to fix it. Has new tires and alignment -- still seems to vibrate, lots of wind noise. Looks very sporty and has a powerful engine when running right but I have little faith in this car since it has been undependable compared to other cars I've owned. Depreciated so fast I'm stuck with it for awhile -- hope the troubles are over!

Edmunds Got It Right

I had no intention of getting a Taurus when looking for a lease, but Ford has a program offer to good to refuse. Edmunds review, it is right on. A perfect blend of price and good attributes. A whole lot of goodies for the money (spoke wheels, leather seats, etc.). Leather seats are not as comfortable as the fuzzy ones, and the base six could be a little more peppy. Sometimes, not often the transmission gets fooled.

I love my car except the very first day I had it, it started to squeal nonstop like the belt was wet. After multiple trips to the dealer they replaced the belt. Now it is ok. Also my blower just went which is not covered under the warranty, so I have no heat and it is 10 degrees out. Other than that very great car.

My wife as owned this car,two years now with 18,000 miles. Here is the list.Pick up car,AC,does not work,at 8,000 miles front arm needs to be replaced. The dealer asked us, do we drive on bumpy roads? At 15,000 miles the transmission goes.At 15,500 transmission leaks, needed a new oil stick!!!!.At 16,000 miles, the rear end seal is leaking, and at 16,900 the module had to be changed,by the motor.Seatbelts are cheap, and many times dysfunctional.Three recalls, seatbelts, brakes, and the radio. It as the duratech engine,a plus, but thats it.Service as been great, the owner says, what can I do,these things happen.Even the power windows squeak, buy lots of wd-40
