Used 2002 Ford Taurus Sedan Consumer Reviews
Nice car, bad battery
Have had mine since I bought it new in '02, other than a couple of cosmetic issues which the dealership fixed the only issue has been that the battery shorted out. Wondering if this is a known defect with these batteries.
I can't believe I bought a Taurus!
Don't take my review numbers too seriously yet, I've only had it for 4 days! The SEL I have has every option but the leather and seems to be VERY solid. The Mach stereo system when setup properly puts out some very impressive sound. The big complaint I have is something that came up when me and my wife went for a drive on Sunday. The seat isn't as comfortable for long trips as I would like, the center of the seat back is hard and makes my back ache, not good. I am going to bring this up when I bring it in.

SEL Premium, first car
Just bought a 2002 SEL Premium a month ago. 32k miles. Mine has every single available option, including: leather upholstery, moonroof, 6 disc CD, floor shift, side airbags, spoiler, automatic climate control, traction control, etc. All but the leather and moonroof come standard on the SEL Premium model. So far all I've done is replace the rear brakes. Otherwise, the car is a beauty. No major problems, fast acceleration, only complaint is the gas mileage, it seems lower than the class standards.
Great Car
I drove many cars - BMW 325i, Acura 3.2TL, Audi A4 1.8T, Lexus IS300/ES300, Volvo S60 2.4T, Toyota Camry XLE, Honda Accord EX V6 and this is probably the best value out of the bunch. This car does about 85% of what the top echelon of the group can do and about 90% of the Camry and Accord. Those cars comparably equipped, cost anywhere from $7000 to $17000 more. City Driving - This car navigates fine in the city. Easy to Parallel Park. Highway Driving - The car is stable on the road up to 100 mph. There is plenty of passing power on the duratec and easily will accelerate to 100 mph in 4th gear. The overall car is pretty noise free.
Great Car even with +++ mile
My son wreched my wife's 97 Escort, this was the replacement car. I am 6'4" and actually fit comfortably and my son in the back seat still has leg room. Car has high mileage but the engine, trans, exterior and interior are still excellent. Ride is wonderful and handles were nicely. Like it better then my 1994 Explorer Limited for long trips much better mileage also, about 30.2 on highway @ 70mph.
