I'll never get rid of it!

I bought this truck used in 1999 with 19k miles on it. Ten years and 85,000 miles later, I still love my Ranger. It's never left me stranded and it's still fun to drive- despite the lack of technology I enjoyed with my Nissan 300ZX and 03 Acura TL. Performed well on my cross-country moves from San Diego to Philadelphia (though doesn't do well in snow). If you're on a budget, definitely consider this car. It's reliable, good MPG, safe, and a much better value than the competition.

Many Small Electrical Problems

1995 Ford Ranger XLT 2dr Extended Cab 4WD SB (3.0L 6cyl naturally aspired 5M)

This has been a great truck but I have had many little electrical problems. It started when I tried to use the 4WD for the first time. It didn't work and dealer said the electronic components were never installed at the factory. In 2000 the wipers quit working (electrical problem). In 2001 the door ajar alarm will not shut off and the windshield wash will not work. I think I will try a different make next time.

If you don't have a lot of cash, this truck is for you. Get a Hayes manual for repairing it yourself, cause it is easy to do maintenance on and Ford Dealerships will charge you 150 bucks for a 40 dollar repair.

This is a very reliable truck, looks great, runs smooth, drives comfortably even over rough roads - no rattles. I have had the same issues as the other reviewers with the rusty brake lines, door jam WD-40 fix and the intermittent wiper ghost. Mine has a automatic and has not much power but the gas milage and reliability make up for that. Get good snow tires for the 2wd or you will go nowhere.

Will Never Sell My Ranger

Before my father bought my Ranger 2 DR XLT Extended Cab, I had never owned a truck. I'll never have another truck but this Ranger. It has never let me down and lives up to Fords reputation for building a tough a truck, even if it is a small truck. I've taken numorous trips in it and it's been a delight to drive and the comfort of the 60/40 seats keeps me happy. It's a true joy to drive on the open roads, handles very well, as it does on country back roads. It drives like a truck should drive, yet you don't feel like you're being beaten to death. I work for a local V.E.T. center (Vehicle Emission Testing) and it's VERY rare to see a Ranger fail the required testing standards.
