can't go wrong with this car
I bought my Probe with 145,000 miles on it and it still runs great. I've had a few minor frustrating problems like the idle, but the reason they were so expensive is because it took the mechanics a loong time to figure out what was wrong. And it always could be counted on to drive. It must be a complicated car. Overall, its awesome, I get compliments on it all the time, thats not bad for a $1500 car, and if it died right now I'd but another one. The value of probes is so low that you really can't go wrong if you want a great looking reliable sporty looking car. I never regretted buying this car.
Still styling 22 years later!
Bought this car with 60,000 miles on it in 2006, have put another 50,000 miles on in the last 10 years. Has been a blast, granddaddy of the Ford/Mazda G platform that lives on in the Fusion, Edge, Mazda6, etc, and obvious front end styling resembling the 1gen Miata. Handling on the car is great, comfort with the GT class is good and until the last 3 or 4 years in which technology has taken off for safety and convenience features, there were few new cars of this size that I considered a significant upgrade to this one. Since passed down to my son who is enjoying it immensely. It is a 22 year old car though, and things wear out, parts become more scarce, and ownership becomes more challenging. Its been a great ride though, Thanks Ford/Mazda!

94 Probe GT
106,000 mainly trouble free miles. Still on the orginal clutch. Usual Probe maintenance issues - Oxygen sensors, ABS sensors, wiring harness, water pump, factory CD. Expensive to repair ($500 for an ABS wheel sensor?). Mazda mechanicals make this a reliable car that has been fun to drive over the past eight years.
don't by with high mileage!!
I had bought this car from my sister. This car was my first car that I owned after getting my license and for the first year of driving it, I didn't have any problems. Whenever I wanted it to pick up and go it would go. But after I had owned it about a year and a half, things started going wrong. First of all, the car is made of cheap plastic. The side pannels are only being held on by cheap plastic screws. The upholstry is thin and rips easily. I had to replace all four tires($75 a piece), the water pump twice($150), the battery(which was only a year old), the catylitc converter($100), the radiator($125), and a few other things.
My Probe (
I love my probe. It runs like a kitten
