Used 2000 Ford Mustang 2dr Coupe Consumer Reviews
Never another Ford
First new car ... what a disappointment. Rotors warped coming off the lot, Ford wouldn't replace. Seat belt wouldn't retract after a few months - two trips to the dealer. Transmission seal failed after 1 year. Transmission, rear differential, and clutch all died after 1.5 years - 3 trips to the dealer (total of 3 weeks in the shop). Had to beg for a loaner car. Window now rubs the frame when shutting the door. Got rear- ended, dealer body shop put a bumper on that had a bend in it where one corner of the bumper sat an inch out from the rest of the body, told us "if you want quality parts, buy a Mercedes." Had to force him to fix it.
Awesome, but...
I have a blue V6 automatic and am happy with its performance. The car is very reliable, it never coughs upon ignition, even in -20 C temperature. The acceleration, breaking and handling are all very good. However, I have had a number of electrical problems, (headlight, dome light) and the wipers got damaged in a heavy rain fall. The engine makes crackling/popping sounds after I turn off the car. The car makes squeaky noises when I drive at high speeds. Also, it's very hard to drive in the winter - the Mustang fishtails like crazy. I just turned 25 and will be getting married soon, and I don't think I will buy another Mustang.

Tamed Pony
Got this car used with 65K miles, since I couldn't afford an Accord or Solara Coupe. Overall the car has been pretty good to me. No major repairs, just maintenance. This car is NOISY. Ford really cut a lot of corners when it came to quality and craftsmanship. Wind noise intrudes at high speeds and it feels like a shopping cart on rough roads. The power-steering wines, but this seems to be common. The seats are a joke, they offer little to no support up front. This cars goes through brakes fairly quickly. My driver's side windows sticks in hot weather, paint has faded, and the engine rattles at high RPMS. Transmission seal leaks are common as well, but that's been the most of my problems.
My Experience
I bought this car with 16,000 miles on it for $9,000 dollars from a friend. It has been nothing but amazing since that day. I have added a cold air intake, tinted the windows and put on an amazing exhaust. I get about 30 miles per gallon in the highway and about 14 in the city (without any air conditioning). I had to change the CCRM which ran for about 140 dollars , but this seems to be a really rare problem, I was just unlucky. I would recommend different rims and tires, because traction in the rain is horrible; I have crashed 3 times. All of which kept my car in perfect condition, but ruined the other cars lol.
There Greeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaat!!!!!!!!
This car is great everything has been trouble free and we already have over 70,000 miles on it it still feels like new. Everything works correctly and we havent had any problems. I would recommend this dealer: Cella Ford of New Bern,NC(they gave us a great deal we never even had to go listen to a salesperson speil, test drive what you want at a different dealer then call them up and tell them what you want they gave us invoice and low apr with no down at all (4.9 apr) great car!!!!
