Original Owner
I ordered my 1991 LX wagon February of 1990, because Ford was no longer building the 1990 model year. I took delivery on May 30, 1990. I am the original owner and the car has been primally used for family vacations, first towing a 16-foot camping trailer and now a 24-foot travel trailer. The car was ordered with factory towing package and has more than 40,000 miles towing. The car is still original, having replaced only the transmission output seal, power steering pump seal, fan clutch, and premium sound radio since purchased new. Regular service has been performed per the owners manual. The car is very comfortable, quite and power is adequate whether towing or driving solo.
Good family car
I have drove this car for the past two years now and find it to be a good family car. It is a good solidly enginered car to drive, but can be intimidating because of its large size. The design can fool people into thinking that it won't go that fast, but that is not the case. The feel of the ride is very smooth, and good for long car trips. As with most large cars with a V-8 engine, gas mileage could be better. Unlike most new cars today that have a center shift console, the '91 Crown Vic has a 6 passenger capacity, which is a definite plus. This car is a classic, and will be legally considered an anitque in a few years. Still reliable, it's one that is worth keeping.
It's an ex-cop car, what can you say?
I just bought an ex cop car, it just had a rebuilt engine put in it 5000 miles ago, but the car has 147000 miles on it. It could use some more torque, but it's got a good midrange (say from 40-60) and the interior is in pretty good shape, especially for bein a cop car.
One bid mo fo
Its a great car. has lots of power with the 351 cleavland engine. love the big body look and old car look. almost has 500,000 miles on it and it runs and looks like it just came out of the showroom 13 yrs. ago. Runs very smooth and very strong. too bad they don't make them like they did back then today.
Capable Runner
As a people and stuff hauler, it does quite well, carrying 6 people in relative comfort, and 8 at max. It has enough cargo space and towing capacity to compete with a mid-size SUV, and gets better fuel mileage. Ride and handling are on the poor side of average when compared to mid-size imports from the period. The engine is torquey, but is less powerful than many current I4s making it fairly slow. Reliability has been mixed. When I'm told by Vic enthusiasts that the SEVEN significant repairs (most would cost $500+ to repair professionally) the car needs are all "common" for this model, I begin to wonder what they think "reliable" means. But, the car runs well and gets me where I'm going.
