You'll probably have transmission problems

2017 Ford Focus automatic with severe transmission shutter and delay in acceleration/shifting 1-3rd gears at 40,000 miles. Ford's service department will charge you $200 to tell you the shutter is normal. It isn't. This is a serious safety issue and Ford needs to be held accountable.

Disappointed with the Ford Focus

I purchased my 2017 Ford Focus SEL brand new for $40,000 thinking this car would last a long time. Boy was I wrong about this. 3 months and 10 days after my new car purchase, the Ford factory battery died and left me stranded. The dealer said the battery was only covered for up to 90 days and made me pay for a new one out-of-pocket (while still making payments on the car !)😠. After the first 4 years at around the 85,000 mile mark, the transmission began to “slip” but the car still drove well. At 95,300 miles however that transmission has completely failed and the car is now inoperable. The transmission is dead and needs to be replaced now ! After 4 years of driving this Ford Focus, the car is completely worn out and rusted with a broken/manufacturer-defective transmission. I am totally and completely dissatisfied and disappointed with my 2017 Ford Focus Sel vehicle !

Bought my 2017 brand new had 23 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. 11k miles 1st clutch had to be replaced in my automatic, 21k miles 2nd clutch, 32k 3rd clutch, 44k 4th clutch now on the 6th it last around 19k and my car is now at 86k miles so no Ford wont do anything. My extended and factory warranties are done. Ford did pay me to go away but not even a 1/3 of what I paid for the car, or time I list at working going to the dealer every couple of months. They are fully aware they have not fixed the transmission issues in this model and do nothing to help the consumer. Dont waste your hard earned money on this pos. UPDATE finally got rid of it and it was stuttering again as usual between 9000-12000 miles. I now drive a 2021 Equinox and My husband drives a 2014 GMC we will never give another penny to Ford.

Smooth Daily Driver

KAM., 06/05/2017
2017 Ford Focus SE 4dr Sedan (1.0L 3cyl Turbo 6M)

I needed a daily driver to replace my previous 16 year old sedan without breaking the bank. My primary concerns are reliable and economical with a secondary for fun to drive. Hence, I found an anomaly, a manual transmission on the dealer lot took a little effort and Google to find. The 3cyl turbo is weak at low RPM's, but comes alive from 3000-6500 and can be quite fun. Pedal placement is atrocious for heal-toe shifting, but the after-market has a fix to realign the throttle pedal. Overall, the engine is raspy and fun at high rev's while economical at normal speeds. EcoBoost folks: You get Eco OR Boost... pick with your right foot! This engine isn't even broken in yet but has achieved amazing combined fuel mileage despite the occasional floggings.

Evap purge

SorryFordowner, 01/24/2019

Had vechicle for 1 year before having issue with the engine. My check engine light came on about a week ago with a p1450 which was a error code for a evap purge valve. Car start to run a little rough then after filling up my gas tank it now stalls out and dies. Called 3 ford dealership to get replacement part but the parts mangers informed me that the part was on back order with no telling when the part will be available again. So now I have car that doesn't run that I'm paying on lol lesson learned never purchase a ford, Chrysler, jeep, chevy, fiat, and Volkswagen
