Ford has come a long way with this little car. This is my second Focus, and I can honestly say I cant complain about it at all. I'm middle aged so I don't need all the extra power, bells, and whistles. The fuel economy is excellent. Most of my driving is highway, and I average about 40.5 mpg. , less for city driving. The ride is comfortable especially for trips less than three hours. The car handles very well, and is quite nimble when getting into parking spaces. The 1.0 liter is adequate for my needs, but it lacks the power of my previous Focus which had the 2.0 . (By the way, the 2.0 also got great mileage). I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who needs a low cost, reliable sedan.

Great Value if Driven Properly

I got a great deal on my 2017 Focus SEL new back in September of 2017, and I’ve now got nearly 30000 miles on it. It’s a great little car with excellent handling and a smooth highway drive. Also, I love the Sync 3 system with Apple CarPlay. I’ve had a few instances where audio will cut out but a reset of the system seems to solve the issue most of the time. The back seat is a bit small though. Now for the question everyone talks about - the transmission. It’s a dual clutch transmission which is basically a manual automatically controlled by a computer. As such, it needs to be treated like a manual. Make sure power is smooth and consistent when starting from a stop. Don’t creep forward in traffic without applying power. Basically, you need to pay attention to how you apply power, and you need to feel what the transmission is doing. If you do that, you’re fine. If you don’t, then you’ll need your clutch replaced time after time. To conclude, it’s a great car if you operate it properly. However, to be fair, if you don’t want to tolerate the transmission, it’s not the car for you.

Horrible transmission. I purchased this car in october 2019. Been through 2 transmission replacements. 1 with previous owner at 9000km and again at 44,500km, 3 months after purchasing. Currently at 46,000km and slipping again. Stay away from this car.

the dealer took advantage of my now fiancee. If I knew her at the time of her lease obviously things would be way different. she pays $353 a month for this POS it has now been in the shop and we have been without the vehicle for 30 days + and this is the 4th time in the shop for the same lurching and jumping and grinding and transmission overheating issues...the car stops running. it breaks down constantly. IT IS UNSAFE! stay away from frod (fraud) i mean ford all together. the dealer treats you like crap also. never any loaner cars and the one she leased from only has 2 transmission mechanics and we are in a densely populated area of NY. there are no words to describe the frustration.

So far the car has worked very well. Dont buy this car if you need the back seat. Its very tight. I drive 100 miles a day on interstate and my Gas mileage is 39.5. I have 27000 miles on it and no warranty issues. The car handles very good. Good comfort and quiet inside. The cell phone intagration is great. For older folks getting out is a little hard because it sits very low to the ground. All in all I have been very satified so far with this car. The car over all still has been a good car. Major complaints are the transmission and poor resale. Its had a new clutch at 55000 and I am told it will need another down the road. If the car had an automatic transmission. It would have been a better car.Avoid auto mated manuals on this vehicle. I paid 16500 for the car. At 60000 miles trade in value in my area is 8000 dollars. Enough said. Sold mine and bought a new Fusion. Over all the Focus was a 6 on a scale up to 10.
