Test drove 2014 Ford Focus SE 5spd, and was surprised. Thought it would be too small, that wouldn't like "overly busy" infotainment area of car. Liked it, bought one. Good manual transmission. Heard people didn't like auto trans. Had driven dual clutch auto-manual vw's, didn't like. Car is small, need to plan out where to put things, small car ride. Could use a sixth gear on highway, but fun to drive, feels well-made. Getting 39mpg+ on ride back and forth to work. Curvy, hilly back roads. Do upshift when lighted arrow tells me to do so. Seems engine would lug, but it doesn't. Am in fifth gear by 35mph! Very likable car. Got great deal. First black car. Handsome.

Worst car I’ve ever had!!!!!

I’ve had this car since it was new I’ve had to replace the battery 4 times now in just a few years the mileage is never even close to accurate and the gas just goes fast on it. It’s also almost as if the car hesitates a lot when I press on the gas and won’t go or it shakes a ton i would never recommend this car to anyone I’ve actually had a few family and friends consider buying one by the looks but when I tell them everything that I’ve had with the car they change their mind and buy something else. Only reason why i even got it to begin with was I trusted someone I knew at future ford of Sacramento to help me get a car I wanted the used 08 Acura to pay it off faster but he convinced and pumped me up to get this car on a lease and me being the stupid new young adult I was I just agreed and went with it ended up going over on miles because of work and got stuck with the car. I would rather have a geo metro than this car now to be honest. Never buy a Ford Focus and if anyone from Sacramento reads this never go to Sacramento future ford.

Lot of recalls, from door latch to transmission . Had catalytic converter stop up...left me walking at 30000 miles. Quite cheap interior, awful venting, factory radio poor. Exterior paint is easily chipped. Good points, better than advertised gas mileage, good performance for a 4 cylinder, great handling, as good...better than my old Mach 1. On another factory recall, which might involve two trips to the dealer. A bit ridiculous. I believe a Nissan or Kia will be in my future. The Focus is a disappointment.

Same transmission problems as other reviewers. I grew to really hate the car and the end result is that I will never buy/lease another Ford product. Lease was up in March of '17 so I turned it in and now drive a 2017 Hyundai Sonata which I love.

I currently have a 2014 Ford Focus. This car has given me problems since the first month I purchased it. I purchased it with 14 miles on it. I took it back to the dealership with 1000 miles on it as it was jerking really bad. It acted as though I was driving a really bad stick shift car, I was not. The service folks told me this is how the Ford Focus functions. I took it back again at approximately 20,000 miles, the issue continued to get worse. The shaking, the stuttering, the slow take off. Again, the service guys told me this is how the Ford Focus functioned. I knew something wasn't right. Now, they tell me at 65K miles, the clutch is bad and needs to be replaced. Ford is NOT taking responsibility for their awful transmission issues. This problem began from the very beginning. I purchased this car for my 16 year daughter. I will no longer allow her to drive this car as it may quit on her at any moment. I wonder if the President of FORD or the Ford dealership would purchase this vehicle for their daughter? I would say, they would not. I do not recommend anyone purchase this vehicle as Ford nor the dealership will stand behind you. When you go to trade, they don't want to give you anything for the car as they know it is not worth a dime. Never again will I purchase a FORD vehicle. It’s back in the shop today! Horrible car. Worse purchase ever!
