Used 2005 Ford Focus Consumer Reviews
2nd new car
I told myself after buying a brand new 1984 Dodge Caravan and having someone wreck it in my driveway I would never buy a new car again...well here I am and I did buy a new 2005 Focus SES. The car handles like a European car, extremely well, sure of itself and very responsive. It lacks power but makes up for that in the handling. Stopping seems OK and the car makes the driver feel in total control. I am still unsure of the mpg which I will carefully scrutinize. Overall I am pleased with the car so far.
Worth every penny!
I test drove everything in this price range & for the money you can't beat it. It has nice 2-tone interior, 6 disc CD changer with subwoofer, awesome exhaust note and with $4200 in rebates & discounts I ended up paying about $14,500! Try to get a Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic for that price. This vehicle is no hot rod but it is very fun to drive.

Never though I would buy a Ford
I love this car. I never thought i would buy a Ford after getting out of my 2003 Chevy Cavalier, the Focus made my Chevy Cavalier seem so cheap and out of date. I love this car and I'm so happy with it.
What Happened To Ford's "Quality"?
The engine and transmission began presenting problems shortly after I bought the car. The engine idles rough, runs rough and stalls when stopping. When the tranny changes, especially up/down from second to third gears, it sounds like pouring a bunch of screws into a metal bucket. Now is is slow going into gear from park. I cannot recommend buying any Ford Focus.
Great Car for all around use
Traded down to Focus from an SUV. The Focus performs well and acceleration is not affected by the number of people in the car like other small cars. I truely enjoy the gas economy. Interior is roomy, seats provide the support and the being able to raise or lower the driver'ss seat is a good touch. The SES provids most of the nice buttons that are normally not standard in this price class of vehicle. Ride noise is minimal compared to other small cars I've owned. Handling and ride qualilty are outstanding.
Still the Most Bang for the Buck
I have owned four ZX-3's - a 2000, 2001, 2003, and the current 2005. The 2000 was buggy but way ahead of its time on handling and packaging. The current model is still ahead of the pack on handling and performance, returns good gas mileage as well, and is a reliable car. If you like to be involved in driving, and are on a budget, this (ZX3, S trim with aircon, stick shift) is the car for you! The current 100,000 mile power train warranty adds to the sense of security. I was able to buy a 6 year, 60,000 mile bumper to bumper Ford extended warranty for only $600. All of my Focii except the 2001 have been stick shift.
This car is great!
The fuel economy is great. I remember the 2000, 2001 Focus as being not the best around. Boy it sure has grown up. The 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty is a plus. (I think that is only available in Florida though).
Never thought I would buy a FORD
I was shopping for a car to replace my 2003 Chevy Cavalier. I wanted something sporty yet with good fuel economy. I was waiting for the new Chevy Cobalt to come out, wow what a disappointment. It was too small. The Ford Focus is so much bigger plus it had more to offer - power, fun to drive, better styling, and better performance all around. I like everything about my Focus ST; been happy with the car since I bought it. I recommend this car to anyone who wants performance, styling, and fuel economy all in one car.
a/c compressor noise
When I test drove my ZXW the a/c charge was low so there was no noise. As soon as it was charged and new coolant was put in there was a loud clicking every 30 seconds. Ford say that is normal. That sound is the a/c compressor working. I hate the loud click and would not bought the vehicle if I heard it during my test drive. I love driving my ZXW, but what do I do to shut this car up.
LOVE IT
Bought my Focus in January. I love it. Had a Chevy, Kia and Buick before this one and the Focus is a million times better. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a reliable and affordable vehicle. Even for a car that isn't a sports car, it is still sporty. Easy to drive, very comfortable, responds well. My husband & I are both tall and this car is still very comfortable for us. Center console is a little awkward to get into, but that is the only thing that could stand improvement.
