Used 2000 Ford Focus Consumer Reviews
Lemon??
I loved this car at first. THEN into the dealership it went. Again and again for repairs. First the break pads AND rotors had to be replaced at only 25k miles! All normal they said. Break dust on the wheels is horrible and now at 37k miles my breaks are squealing and grinding. Outside parts are loose, falling off. I have an oil leak. The ignition switch broke and had to be towed and was in the shop for a week. Seat belt in the back is jammed. Gas guage does not always work. Not to mention the recalls. In all defense, I was rear ended very hard and the bumper held up fantastically.
Great Car... Reasonable price!!!
This car is awesome. I bought it in 2000 and I have had my Focus ZTS since than and have no plans on getting a new car anytime soon. It is a great car... and is fun to drive. This car is worth every penny of the 17000 I paid for it. It is reliable and can't be beat.

Great Car
I love my 2000 Ford Focus se. It's been a great car. I am the first owner and for 10 years I have jest had a few very little problems. I have a small rattling in the engine but its because I need an engine mount. I hear so many bad things about the car but I love mine its my Porsche. I have 300,000 km and it's still running strong
ford needs to only build trucks
piece of crap radio went out 7 times, fuel gauge 3 times, 2 transmissions, and a gas milage that is worse than my f 150 with a 5.4 v8 this car sucks in every way want a car buy from chevy want a truck buy a ford
JP
Motor runs good but not even. The onboard computer makes the purformance go up and down.
Focus, Ford!!
I put about 40k miles per year on my cars, and this one has not held up. It has gone through brakes every 30k miles, the suspension eats through tires, the windows have stopped working on 2 occasions, the fuel gage has never been accurate despite 3 repairs, several interior panels are loose, the drivers side mirror is loose... I have already spent twice as much in repairs on this car than I have on my 96 civic hatchback, which has almost 200k miles now and has again become my daily driver due to the poor build quality of this car.
Always in the Shop
The Focus is a piece of JUNK! Car has been into dealership 19 times 15 of then have been recalls or warranty purposes. Have had 9 recalls already! Car has 59,140km on it. Rear axle assembly has been done, both front stablizer links replaced, brake calipers froze, car shook at high speeds. Springs were not properly in control arms, caused clunk. Clutch spring done twice. Car stalls occasionally, still not fixed. Car RPM's fluctuate when stopped causing car to shake at stops. Two wheel covers replaced, wiper arms had to be tightened. Rear wheel bearings and seals replaced. The list goes on and on. Stay away from the focus it is nothing but hassles.
First Car - Excellent Choice!
I had this car 7 1/2 years, over 100K miles, and ran it into the ground. I think I performed major maintenance once, at 60,000 mi. I replaced the brakes twice, rotors once. It only had one problem ever, where oil was dripping on something and I could smell it through the vents. Easily fixed. I was in a collision and the car was minimally damaged with the exception of the airbags. I was really hard on the exterior: it sustained a lot of damage, but still always ran like a champ. I traded it for a Subaru AWD when I moved to NH because it slid a lot in the snow cause it was light. But if the Focus came in AWD and still in a hatchback, I would be driving one of those instead! Loved this car!
WON'T DIE
I LOVE IT I HAVE OWNED EVERTHING FROM TRANSAMS,CAMARO Z28, CHEVY TRUCKS, CROWN VIC'S, THIS CAR HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE DRIVIEN IT IS FUN, CHEAP AND RELIABLE. I DRIVE ALL MY CARS HARD. I HAVE REPLACED FOUR SETS OF TIRES AND THREE SETS OF TIRES. ALSO ONE CLUTCH BUT HEY NO COMPLAINTS HERE. MOST OF THE OTHER FOR AN EXCEPTION OF THE CROWN VIC WOULD HAVE FALLEN APART BY NOW. THIS ONE JUST KEEPS GOING LIKE TH ENERGIZER BUNNY
Never Owned a Ford Before
I am not one of those that get into the whole heated debate about Ford vs. Chevy, etc. Some have given me hell about owning a Ford, but I can't complain. (yet) Not that I'm expecting things to go wrong, just have my eyes open in case. I love my little Focus ZTS and I think it looks sleek, sharp and sexy. I enjoy the sound system (not so sure my fellow commuters do...) and the EASE of steering. I am a happy first-time FORD owner. Thank you!
