Excellent value

I simply love this little car. It gets better mileage than any car I ever owned and is quiet, comfortable, handles very well and I think it is nice looking. It is not a hot rod but it will cruise at 80 MPH all day if you need to. It gets about 40 MPG on long drives at 60-65 MPH. It is a great value. It is a shame Ford is discontinuing it.

First of all, I would like to say that if you're a man, whether medium sized or large, don't bother buying this car. It's not big enough. However, if you're small or regular size woman, it's GREAT! I wouldn't imagine guys would be too interested in it unless they are wanting something small with great gas mileage. Secondly, this is the second Fiesta I have owned, my other was a 2012 5-speed manual, I prefer manual transmissions and with this car, it just works better. I get an average of 36-40 MPG even around rural Idaho. My first Fiesta had 95,000+ miles without any issues, only oil changes. It was very dependable. I find the trunk has plenty of space and as for the back seats? I have no problems fitting my daughters in it comfortably for long drives. Again, I wouldn't recommend it for growing teenage boys or adult men, or even tall girls. The leg space is limited. Some people have complained about it being narrow, but the benefits of that are awesome. It's easy to park, and fits almost everywhere. It handles very well, is quiet and feels solid. Even after 6 years, my older one was still holding together well, didn't have interior noises or things falling apart. I owned a Toyota Corolla in the past, and the Fiesta is every bit as solid and well built, but gets better gas mileage. My favorite part is the manual window cranks that you can't find on other cars. There is plenty of convenient technology without it being over the top ridiculous. The only down side I've found about this car is the fact that it doesn't have a LOT of power. So if you're passing someone on a rural road, be sure to have plenty of room to get around them. You won't be breaking any speed records with this one. One year later: I still LOVE this car. It's been great on trips, even loaded with two other people and luggage it still gets almost 40 mpg on the highway. Aside from oil changes, I've had to do nothing to it. No issues at all. Just peace of mind. The five-speed manual transmission is definitely the way to go with the Fiesta, it handles well in snow and ice as long as you have studded tires all the way around. I'm very pleased with the onboard updates like backup camera and voice commands for your electronic devices. The roll down windows are a favorite option and the seats make all day driving easy. This isn't a fancy car, but if you're interested in something that works well, is economic on your pocket book, and reliable, this is the car for you. Thanks Ford! I would happily buy another just like it!

Not bad for bottom of the automotive food chain!

Al B., 08/31/2018
2018 Ford Fiesta SE 4dr Sedan (1.6L 4cyl 5M)

So, we got a really good deal on a new 2018 Fiesta SE. After a couple of weeks, here are my initial impressions. (1) It's a small car. No duh, right? But it is rather cramped inside, mainly because it is such a narrow car. My left knee knocks into the door cup holder that is too far forward, and my right knee bangs up against the center console. The front seat moves back far enough to give me adequate leg room, but then I'm a bit too far back to use the left arm rest on the door. (2) Don't ever, ever put an adult in the back seat if you want to remain on speaking terms with them. There's just not enough leg room back there. (3) The trunk is surprisingly large for such a small car. (4) Base infotainment is nice! The older gen Sync works well with our phones. The back up cam is now standard and works well. (5) The engine is a bit buzzy from the outside, but it's pretty quiet on the inside. (6) The auto transmission works well enough. I'm getting 38 mpg with about 80% highway driving. (7) Ambient lighting is a gimmick, but we really like it! The kids think it's a hoot. (8) Front seats in SE trim are adequate, but I wouldn't want to sit in then for a long road trip. (9) Be sure to look into the college student/recent graduate discount from Ford. We were able to knock $750 off the total price. For an inexpensive car like the Fiesta, that was about a five percent discount.

I got the SE, so there's not a lot of zip, but there still is some acceleration to it. I went with a manual transmission with all the talk about the automatic transmissions. I drive about 150 miles round-trip to work and I've have the car since June. No issues so far, just a solid little car cranking out about 36 mpg on average. The space isn't anything to brag about, but I love the value of this car.

Cheap Thrills

Jeremy, 12/09/2019
2019 Ford Fiesta SE 4dr Sedan (1.6L 4cyl 5M)

I have driven a couple of Fiestas previously and have always liked the manual shifter action, the great steering and handling, and to me the styling is spot on. The grill isn't oversized, it doesn't try to look sportier or more aggressive than it is, just a basic car. Mine has the SE appearance package with 16" wheels and SYNC III. I'm not a huge infotainment person, but the system sounds nice, the automatic volume works nicely and being able to direct the sound towards the driver isn't something I wouldn't have thought of but works great. It also plays FLAC files from a USB stick which is my preferred way to listen to music on the go. The steering wheel controls work great, and since I can take calls and listen to texts without having to look at my phone, I'm not even tempted to pick it up. The engine revs freely and power is adequate. It's no ST, but it's still fun. Torque steer has been minimal and it'll scratch in 2nd gear if you get on it. The transmission shifts smoothly and the linkage is very good. Clutch is a little light but you can feel it engaging unlike some others. During normal driving, you can keep the RPMs below 3k with decent acceleration. You don't have to wring it out to get on the highway. I would say my only real complaint is the bottom of the seat could use a little more support, but it's not pain inducing or anything. The height adjustment and tilt/telescoping steering make it easy to find a good position. I can sit behind myself in the rear seat, but this is irrelevant to me as I won't be putting anyone back there really. I would have preferred the 3-door model they offer in other markets. The back window fogs up a little bit at night, but this hasn't affected visibility. I feel like the fit and finish are great for the price you pay. I have one of the premium shades of paint, Hot Pepper Red. It's color changes with the light, it is cool to come out to the car and see it look a different shade almost every time. There are no interior rattles, the ride is firm but not uncomfortable, steering feedback is actually existent. It has piano black plastic which isn't my favorite (dust magnet), I keep a terry cloth to wipe it off occasionally. The dash design is a little funky, but the SYNC III system unclutters some of the layout of the base models. Conclusion: This car was released in 2008 (in Europe), and in 2019 it is still competitive. I think that says something. If you're looking for good performance (not "performance cred"), this is a good budget choice that will keep things like your insurance rates and fuel costs low (my trip computer currently reads 36.2mpg and that's 60/40 hwy/city driving). I think it's a shame Ford is discontinuing this car in the US.

A lot better car than you expect for the money

I bought the stripped one, literally no options at all & really don’t feel a bit deprived.. a decent radio, super- slick shifting 5-speed, rear defroster, even came with floor mats & makeup mirrors. Three free oil changes from Ford & another free oil change from the dealer. Five years of Ford warranty for $197 a month.

Most fun thing I have ever bought with money

I have reviewed my 2016 Fiesta ST with this same title, but I thought I would review my 2019 Fiesta ST after 18,000 miles. I purchased a no option ST about a year ago. I thought I would miss the Recaro seats more than I actually do, but the regular seats do make you feel a little less connected to the chassis. I am not sure I would have been comfortable with the regular seats unless I had driven a Fiesta with the Recaros first. Most people who read this review will be considering buying a used one. The best advice I can give is try and find one that is stock, or modified only slightly. I am 58 years old, and have owned 58 cars, The ST is the easiest manual I have ever owned. Seating position is great, and line of sight is phenomenal. The line of sight is important in a small car in traffic, and great for hitting apexes on the track or road. The ST Octane academy will be going away after 2020 at least for the US, but they were really good at showing us what the Fiesta ST's real capabilities were. I am known for driving pretty quickly most the of time, but those instructors drove the ST faster than I thought possible. Is the Fiesta ST still the most fun thing I have ever bought with money? Yes. As I said before, If you want a visceral street legal go kart - get one.

Another Ford Fiesta

Easy to drive around town but comfortable for road trips as well. I live in the desert Southwest and bought this car during the searing summer months. It had the coldest A/C of all the cars I test drove, which is really important in this climate. The ride is quieter and more comfortable than other companies' comparable models. This is my second Fiesta and the 2018 model is improved over my 2012 both mechanically and in terms of interior design/features. Back seat is cramped for adults but otherwise, the car has enough space and storage to meet my needs.

As a recently graduated college student, it is hard to afford to buy a brand new car that is amazing. But Ford Fiesta S is an affordable car that delivers on everything that you need. I cannot recommend this car to anyone who is looking to buy a new car. Car is simple and efficient and all the great things are included and some of the things are industry leading such as milage, #1 compact car in UK, rear view camera, all safety features, comfy seats, fun to drive, cargo space.

I live in Houston where traffic is absolutely horrible. I wanted a car that could drive easy in this metropolis mess. The fiesta has been perfect the 4 months I have had the car. I bought it used with only 20,000 miles. Perfect car and I am 6’5”. I took one 1000 road trip and was perfectly comfortable, it’s not the best but definitely not the worst.

Being a smaller car, the ride isn't as smooth as a larger car, but hey, it's a Fiesta.. With that being said, it's a blast to drive! Drives great and turns on a dime. Even though it's just a four cylinder, this car has plenty of pep for it's size! And great gas mileage to boot!

Great little car

We had a prius C before... this has a little less tech.. it's the basic S model so stick and roll down windows. That said it has lots of pep... great on curvy roads and rainy conditions. Shifts easily. Mileage so far is at or over what they say so getting 37 / 38. We only have 2500 miles so far but have owned other small fords and this is as good or better. The prius had one big fault... no torque if one got the drive wheel in anything soft or challenging. And of course we had 156k on it and worried it would need a battery. This car handles even better than the prius... has more pep... and for a gas engine great mileage. We got a new 2018 and 3k back from ford so cost 11k +. I would recommend it based on our experience to date.

I purchased my Fiesta new. I have had it just year and I can't say enough good things about it in the 8500 miles I have put on it. I am a big tall guy and am perfectly comfortable in the front seat. The rear seat is cramped behind me so it is for my dog or my gear. I find it to have plenty of power in the city commute or even on a 2 hour hop down the interstate. I have seen as high as 41mpg and the low in town has been 26. Winter traction with the stock hancook tires is iffy, I will replace them with better skins when these wear out, but handling and ride in dry and wet has been great. It drives like a little gocart Great sounding stereo, the sync 3 and bluetooth connects great with my phone. The heated seats and auto temp control work flawlessly. I'm looking forward to keeping it for 5 years. Great value!

This car has had a lot of issues.I bought it brand new and it cannot handle a long commute nor can it handle going up steep hills. It sucks in bumper to bumper traffic and after having it for 3 years and keeping on the scheduled maintenance I am having emissions problems, the car will not start after I get gas.The dealership did not bother to address this issue when I brought it in for the check engine light. Ford said emissions issues were not covered under my maintenance package. I have had many issues with this car. Unless you just drive around town maybe this car will work but commuting and constant driving dont bother and it sucks in gas

I was hit near the back right hand side yesterday and it is nothing but body damage, the side airbags did deploy (not that it was necessary, this was a mere fender bender at best) but parts of the vehicle that probably would have been fine had they not deployed for no reason are now destroyed due to the airbags ripping the interior apart. Most of this car is made of cheap plastic. The seatbelt on the drivers side is now locked up completely and unusable. The radio stopped working and I don’t know why. The car called 911 automatically so that’s good I guess.

My old car had started requiring expensive repairs and when I had it towed in for what was going to be another expensive repair I ended up buying a new car. I have always driven sub-compacts and the Fiesta has plenty of get-up-and-go and gives a smooth ride. I get good mileage, which is always a plus. One thing I had to get used to was the fact that the headrest does not sit flat against the top of the seat so I purchased a cushion online and problem solved. I am happy with my purchase.

Love the car while on perfectly dry roads. Add snow, rain, or mud forget it. Even with mud and snow tires this car is horrible on anything other than dry, perfect roads. I have owned front wheel drive vehicles in the past and never had a issue on snow. This car even with 15 inch wheels and snow tires ( figured these would be better with taller sidewall than stock 17's) is horrible even with the smallest amount of snow. Definitely a garage queen for the fall, winter, and spring. I'll drive my subaru the rest of the time. Great California car but that's not where I live.

They are priced low for a German designed, Mexican made car. But the performance was not there. I've owned two other European Fords, A Cortina, and a Mercur Xr4Ti, and this little Fiesta did NOT have what those two cars had. The Cortina had quality and solid build feel and was fun to drive. This Fiesta did not. The Merkur had performance, handling and comfort, quality materials and a very confident feel on the road at all, including high (115mph) speeds. This Fiesta did not. It's small and feels cheap. The 4cyl just didn't have any fun factor and seemed to complain about being push a little. If you have low expectations and a limited budget then this car might be OK? I've owned several German made cars, VW, Audi, BMw and Mercedes-Benz. The Fiesta is not in the same league...

I ran into a plastic pool cart going 3 mph and it left a huge dent in the side of my car. Now imagine what another vehicle would do!

I bought my car in February it’s now December and despite its small size I didn’t absolutely hate this car till today when my car needed gas and didn’t have enough to make it to the gas station it’s dark out and raining and I want to be prepared for tomorrow morning so I go out in my other car to get some gas I get back and go to pour it in and it’s pouring all over the side of my car so I take my phone out as a light and I can tell by the side of the tank that I needed a funnel so I go search one down since I’m home I get back and restart pouring and it’s still pouring everywhere so I go look it up and guess what I have to have a special funnel in order to pour my own gas into my own car I’m now soaked in gasoline wet from the rain and pissed because this little car isn’t going anywhere in the morning or actually according to other reviews it may not be drivable till after Christmas because this part may malfunction and then I’ll have to have it replaced which will cost me more money. It’s bad enough the plastic around the windows is slowly peeling back on my back window but I’m seriously mad because in an emergency situation this is the worst thing it’s bad enough to be a female walking to a gas station let alone to have to try for 40 minutes to fill there tank thank god it wasn’t an emergency because ford wouldn’t be happy with me. Update apparently the trunk has a leak in it I hate this car

Over Priced and outdated

I would have bought the 2018 ST model if I could have gotten a deal on one. Sadly the dealerships are selling these cars for more money than what they sold for last year in my region. The new 2019 North America model is even cheaper and less of a value. Why doesn't Ford bring the same specification offered in Europe at a value price to entice this type of a car? I searched last year and this year and was in the market for it however the pricing was higher this year than last year. At 16-17k the car is extremely attractive any higher than this and the car quickly loses appeal as the car depreciation appears to be extremely high. After search high and low for a deal I ended up getting a used car that offers better technology and value. Low two star ratings is based primarily on price. If you can get one for 16K new then the car would be a 5 star for featureset and value. Lots of nice cars out there for the price... Not new but good nice cars.

I've owned this car since 2019, I bought it new. It's has to be one of the best handling cars I've ever I owned. It handles like a motorcycle on curvy mountain roads, it likes doing 70 on the freeway. I average 32 mpg year around, but have gotten near 40 mpg on long trips. The only Con is since it's the base model S is manual windows, no cruise control and the cramped back seat!

I got this car for my job as I needed something that was cheap on gas and fuel efficient. While it did meet that, everything else I experienced with this car was not good. Mine had the check engine light come on and started exhibiting more sluggish acceleration than the norm for an engine that small. Took it and got it checked for codes and it was throwing P0420 catalyst system below threshold, with the suggested solution of replacing catalytic converter. I did that, and for a week no check engine light came on, but then it returned with again P0420 codes. I had the oxygen sensors replaced as someone said that could trigger that code and the CEL. Did that solve it? Nope!!! Came right back on the next day, and again acceleration continued to be sluggish. I ended up giving it back to the dealer as I wasn't willing to invest anymore money into it. While it was a quick turning car, it was not a very good riding car. Least little bump or crack in the roadway could be felt rather significantly, and cabin space was very cramped. I was frequently experiencing cramping in my legs and low back pain because of the poor space in the cabin. And there was VERY little room for backseat passengers. The dual clutch transmission was not good. Going up mountains you could tell it was in a strain, and even going up small inclines it would stay at high RPM without changing to the next gear. Overall, I would say it was quite an underwhelming car that would have turned into a money pit if I had stuck with it. Was happy to give it back.

While its no Hellcat, it still has plenty of pep and takes corners very well! The transmission can feel a tad bit sluggish at times, but it's not all that bad. The interior is basic, but it does everything you'd need from a small inexpensive vehicle.
