Has some flaws, but it's a great car over-all.

My mom bought her 2013 Ford Fiesta SE in October of 2012. It has the SE Appearance Package which includes some interior and exterior upgrades. The interior space is pretty good for it's size. Although the back seat is a bit of a pain. With me being 5' 9" I have tilt my head a little bit to fit. The gas mileage is not prefect though. My mom drives only in the city, so mpg may be lower. She averages 25-27 mpg (100% city). It's not to bad, but could be better. The exterior design is fair. It's a bit on the boring side, but it's an economy car. It also has the 6 Spd Dual Clutch Powershift Auto Gearbox. When on slight inclines, it tends to roll back, which is a little annoying at times.

Would not recommend this car for anyone. It is a hazard and the dealership that I went to does not have any answers to the problems I have had and been there way too many times and the last time i just realized they (Ford) was never going to do anything about it.

So far I have 16K miles of my 2013 Ford Fiesta S Sedan and I have been pleased overall. I am consistenly acheiving 42+ mpg due to the rural area I live in as well as my driving habits such as driving the speed limit, gentle stops and starts, and running the AC only when the interior temperature becomes too warm to bear. The ride is firm but forgiving, and much nicer than one would expect a compact car to have. The engine seems very smooth and powerful for its size. Handling feels tight and precise. The automatic transmission (really an automated manual) seems somewhat clunky and makes unusual noises, but so far it has not given me any trouble. Very little rear seat room, but lots for cargo.

Think before you buy this car

I bought the car new on May 1st 2013 and have driven it over 7500 miles. Most of the miles were driven during an extended trip to all points south of NY state. All highway conditions were experienced most being I81 and I95. Wet and windy conditions were frequent. I found several issues that I did not like and was happy with others. I will try and touch on most of them as briefly as possible due to the limited space available. My overall rating of this car is a 3 out of 5. This based on my thorough testing of this car in comparison with 49 years of driving experience and having owned many cars of all types. This car performs best in flat terrain. Do not buy it if you live on a hill.

This is an excellent car for the money and shows just how far the economy game has advanced. It is not a sporty car to drive nor is it a smooth luxury ride but it does exactly what it is meant to do and that is to be an excellent commuter car. It is spacious, comfortable, cheap to buy, has features like XM and Bluetooth that are wonderful on the commute, and gets solid gas mileage. The interior and exterior styling are excellent. I'm 6'6

DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL OF CAR!

Not happy with this model of Ford car! Having issues with transmission/clutch. Already had repaired under warranty in 1/2019. Started having issues again and was told by dealership and Ford Motor Co. that the warranty on the repair was out, so new repair of over $1300 was coming out of our pocket this time. Did some investigating on the internet and found out this is a KNOWN, HIGHLY PUBLICIZED issue with this model of Ford car. Seems to me a manufacturing design flaw like this should be 100% covered by Ford not us! When we are in market for another vehicle, we will be looking at other brands!

Horrible Transmission

I bought this car brand new. I had my transmission replaced for the first time when it was under 10,000 miles. Since then, I have had the transmission replaced another 2 times, and had countless transmission reprograms. Please..Do not buy this car. I know you are reading this review, and you think that mine is just an isolated case. But please, do not buy this car. No car is better than one that might jolt you into oncoming traffic while you're at a red light.

Engine Problems

I bought a 2013 Ford Fiesta in 2015 with low miles. During 9 months of driving the car, I started having engine problems. The car would "jerk" forward uncontrollably which made it undriveable. I didn't have enough money for repair in addition to my car loan payment. Ever since this incident, I vowed never to own a FORD car again. They are not as reliable as Honda, Toyota and Hyundai which I've owned and driven over the years without problems.

Stay away from this car! From the transmission having to be repaired 2 or 3 times already. Now to my brakes going to the floor. Only 112000 miles on the dash. I'm surprised it's lasted this long. But I want out now.

Honestly the WORST car, I got this as my starter car and the abs system has had significant issues, as well as the car has switched into neutral gears on my way home on the freeway!! I would press on the gas but the car would just not move and I had to turn it off and back on. It also has had these flickers in power, I would be driving and then everything turns off from the interior lights and headlights and the come right back on.

Ford Does It Again

First off I want to state that I am 5 foot 8 and 270lbs. I just lost a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis that this 2013 Fiesta replaced I could not get over how comfortable I am in and driving the vehicle Great and fun to drive I actually dont miss my grand marquis I cant believe that I actually just wrote that but this Fiesta is just about perfect I wish Ford would advertise this car more It is a superior value and just great to drive. Down falls are the automatic transmission that is rough to get used to and back seat room but hey I dont sit in the back seat The S should still come with a CD player and an interior truck release but these are the only complaints Great job Ford.

So here goes: I have owned this car since Oct., 2014. I now have 66,000 miles on the odometer. Aside from gas and oil changes, and the 60,000 mile trans service which I did myself this car has cost me very little. I have consistently gotten 41.5 mpg on the freeway and a combined mpg of 36. This car performs pretty well in that it is peppy, handles like it’s on rails, and has the ride quality of a much bigger car. Is the dual clutch transmission a little hard to get used to? Yes. Why? Because it is basically a six speed manual that is electronically shifted. Sometimes you get clutch shudder. But the cure is simple. Make three or four wide open throttle runs from a standing start to 70 mph and it will scrub the clutches in. The complaints that the car will roll on a hill have not been present with my car which begs the question,”How steep of a hill are you trying not to use the brake on?” All of my automatics will roll somewhat on a steep incline. With the exception of my truck which has a extremely low torque converter stall speed. Would I buy another? Certainly. This has been an excellent car that is insanely cheap to own, yet doesn’t “feel” cheap when you drive it. Great little car. And this is coming from a man who is 6’ tall so don’t think there isn’t plenty of room. So after 5 1/2 yrs., this car has proven to be very reliable. It still nets 39-42 mpg depending on the quality of gas, and the octane (yes, even a small engine will get better gas mileage on premium). My only complaint:If you have the s model that comes with plastic wheel covers, be prepared to replace them often, or put a set of wheels on it like I did. After a trip to Illinois, the car that left with all four wheels covers arrived with only three. I be the people behind us got either a good laugh, or had to have the seats surgically removed after an avoidance maneuver. Aside from that, it has proven to be a VERY good car.
