7500 miles, and in shop now. oil leak around oil pan, read it is common and often never fixed properly-noted at first oil change at dealer-lucky oil did not gush out and ruin engine, oh and recall for seat belt that can catch fire and driver side door would not close to drive car, supposedly already given the fix well it didn't work losers, fix or repair daily very appropriate, can't wait to unload this lemon that is going to cost me but unsafe and unreliable, do not buy f-150 unless you want problems, dealer would not give me loaner car either, piece of very expensive junk, going back to toyotas

First of all I have the 5.0 engine. There was no choice on this site for my engine in an xlt. I loved my truck when I first purchased it. Ruby red color is sharp as hell when it is clean. I had the truck for maybe 6 to 8 months and noticed what I thought was a noise in the suspension. Well I took it in and complained about it during an oil change. The service manager and a mechanic took it for a test drive. They returned and stated it was the rear pinion gear. The service manager said they had replaced this item on 5 other trucks and it cured the issue. Well it did on mine also. I have a service contract on my truck that the oil is changed every 7500 miles. Normally I prefer every 5000 miles. Well in between the oil changes I noticed just before it was due I would be low on oil. I was told by service that it was normal for the engine to use a quart of oil every 3000 miles. I own a 2004 lawn tractor that is still going strong. The only reason I have kept it is due to it doesn't use any oil. In fact during it's entire history it has not ever had to have a quart of oil during it's entire life. Here I am paying over 45000 dollars for a truck that now I have to check between oil changes. I also complained about excessive engine noise and was told this is normal for the coyote engine. Well I kept complaining and they decided or Ford issued a tsb. Which involved reprogramming the ecm and changing the oil indicator. Well this was done and when I went home I checked to see what the oil indicator was. They changed the dip stick to a shorter one. I surmised the reason for the shorter dip stick allows the engine to hold more oil so it doesn't run low. After this repair the stop/start feature did not work. Also at the same time the radio, GPS started acting up. A module in the radio needed to be replaced at 35000 miles. I was informed that when it was replaced it would fix the start/stop issue. I had to travel out of state that weekend. The stop/start never activated. So I took it back again which I was out of my bumper to bumper warranty. At first the service writer tried to say it was a new repair. I informed her that after the reprogram it hadn't worked since, so this was an existing repair. Well the checked it and come back and said the computer thinks the battery is low so it won't activate. They checked battery and it was good. There solution was install a new battery. So I guess every 2 years you have to change the battery. I owned a 2013 supercrew with the 5.0 and the only issue was with the brakes. I sometimes wish I had kept. I felt more confident with the engine in it than this one. I will admit the fuel mileage is much better. I have had a 2004, 2008, 2013 and now this 2018 f 150. I am not as confident in this truck lasting for the long haul. I usually trade in around 75000 miles. I at least took out an extended warranty to 75000 miles. I have a feeling that one day that will pay off and Ford have to replace the engine. Over all I love the appearance and the options on my truck. It drives as nice as any car, and is quiter than most cars. Cab room is amazing. Very comfortable. I have for the most part been a Ford owner, but this truck makes me wonder if maybe I need to change makes. Ford seems to be slipping in quality. The previous 5.0 was great, and I don't seem to understand why they changed it. I am not impressed at all with the new coyote. It leaves alot to be desired. I think they rushed this into production without doing extensive testing. There are times when the engine is cold, you start it and you would swear it was a diesel. Not happy with the engine. Worst of all I haven't even tried to tow my camper yet. I have had it for 2 years as of December 28. Since last review I finally towed my camper with it. Gas mileage was surprisingly good. I got around 20 miles per gallon towing a 3500 pound camper. The engine is still noisy, but still isn't using oil. Just had it serviced at 58000 miles. Complained this time about a slight valve clatter during acceleration. Was told if it gets worse bring it in. I still wish I had kept my 2013, I felt more confident with its engine. Don't get me wrong, this one is a good looking truck. I like the accessories and that they work as advertised. Gas mileage can't complain about either. My brother has a 2017 with the old coyote with a 6 speed automatic, and only gets 17 miles per gallon max where as mine with the 10 speed gets 23 to 25 miles per gallon. O just hope it continues to make it. May have to extend the warranty.

This is a complete truck with a few exceptions. I was looking at a Toyota Tundra in comparison and would have spent more upgrading to get it to the spec I wanted compared to the Raptor stock. There is only one way to buy it with the 802A option do not get it base. Drivability is great and has mileage is better than my Honda Odyssey. Gas mileage improves when using nitrogen in the tires also. Performance is unmatched on a stock off the lot truck. Styling is great as well. I would have given it 5* if the interior design and details were better. It feels a bit cheap for a $80K+ truck with a markup. It’s cheaper to buy the truck out of state at MSRP drive or ship it into CA and register it. The headache will save you $15-20K in dealer markups.

Go out away from metro areas to find the best dealer price. After much research & dealership visits its the best way to get a truck with the options you want at a close you're more closely willing to pay (MSRP) without dealer "addendum markups "
