This will be the 4th King Ranch SuperCrew F150 I have owned and I will have to say it is the worst handling on a windy day is a challenge, my 2007 would ride smoothly on a windy day down in South Texas" Pulling a 5x10 trailer" from around 17 miles per gallon drops down too 9 miles per gallon " this truck feels like it has no suspension and that is City driving in Houston, just terrible" my 2007 King Ranch out rides this 2014" :( and i would get a way better gas mileage on my 2007 pulling a small trailer" don't think this 3.5 engine will last 8 years :(

Solid truck with minor "gripes"

I've owned my truck for over 2 years and 30K miles (57K-87K) so far. I'm going to start off by saying it has never left me stranded or disappointed whatsoever. I have a Texas Edition truck, kind of the barebones trim without super fancy driver comfort options but I wanted it that way. As of now, it has an SCT 87OCT tune and a muffler delete which I highly recommend if you enjoy extra sound and perk to your vehicle. Very easy setup for a big difference. For the purpose of this review, I'll refer back to when it was stock. It's made several 600 mile trips and one 800 mile trip. I drive it 30-60 miles everyday. I have put loads of over 450-500 pounds in it at one time through various hustles. Overall, you can't really go wrong with getting the Coyote and the 6R80 transmission. One of, if not the most reliable powertrain combo in 2014. Ford really got the electric steering rack right. The balance between assistance and road feel is just right. It makes maneuvering this truck a breeze. The 5.0 really has a lot of getup too. I never feel it's out of power. My cloth seats are okay. They're comfortable enough. Tons of interior space in the SuperCab is always a plus. I have an item stored in just about every space I can, including the TWO middle consoles which I like a lot. SYNC is really not bad at all even though I have a tiny screen. Never buggy or glitchy and it starts up pretty quickly but it doesn't really show that much information at all. The gauge cluster actually has useful information to sift through but still doesn't have a voltmeter even though it'll measure trans. fluid temps and vehicle plane angles. The oil pressure gauge is faux though as it only reads when you have <4 PSI of oil pressure. The cab is pretty quiet because of the thickened glass. The included sound system does it's job well. It gets loud and it's clear but not amazing. I love the parking sensors and backup camera. Truly a saving grace in my situation in the city. I am a technician so I have done simple maintenance items on it and nothing is truly a hassle to get to. The oil filter is in a funny situation and the bushings to the front sway bar wear quickly though. Onto some of the cons. The vehicle has an insane vibration. It's always been there and probably always will be, even with the diag. done to it. This is just how Ford trucks can be with an added driveline vibration. My driver side door actually shakes some because it's used exclusively. The defroster door linkage gear fell into the blower motor squirrel cage (a VERY common issue) and now I can't use the fan speed over 2 or it'll vibrate everything. Not just the pedal. The entire vehicle. I'll have to get my tools and empty the gear out myself even though it's kind of a hassle or pay over $1000 to have someone repair the assembly for me. Very inconvenient and annoying! Ford is getting multiple class actions from this. My gas mileage has always been pretty bad. It was 15.4 before the tune. No smashed pedals or super heavy loads to add. That's also just a "Ford thing" The turning radius of this truck blows! It is really, really limited. Forward-reverse-forward-reverse. Rinse and repeat. The stability control system is very proactive but somewhat weak. 2WD in snowy Dallas was just as good as totaling it. The paint quality is okay. I never let it get too dirty but a sharp fingernail is just enough to get a good scratch in. Also, this hasn't caused me an issue but it bothers me that my chassis harness is so exposed. Anything sharp on the highway could easy sever a few wires but that's just my opinion. Sometimes the anti-glare in the driver side and rearview mirror are over active, basically getting so dark that I can't see anything at all. In conclusion, I'm not sure whether I'll pay this truck off or go for a cheaper sedan. I'm not in love with my truck but I am very thankful it has gotten me everywhere I wanted to go without letting me down.

New engine needed at 103K Miles. Don't buy EcoBoos

I have a 2014 F150 3.5 Ecoboost that has just over 103000 miles and have had nothing but issues with the truck from day 1. Engine light gremlins come back non stop. Low boost pressure code, VVT Cam Timing Code, Timing cover leak, alternator replaced, oil pressure indicator off, the list goes on! I have had multiple repair facilities look at it and say nothing is really wrong but now the Ford dealer says it needs an engine and that is $10000! I have done everything Ford says to do on the truck, never misses oil changes and have had trans oil and filter done recently too. No support or seeming knowledgeable dealers. Shouldn't have an engine die at 100K miles????? Was my first and last Ford. Update: Still no change in my views on eco boost engines. Hype = Garbage

2014 FX4 Review

I have replaced the high pressure fuel pump, exhaust manifold, and had several electrical problems. All of this UNDER 70 K miles on the truck. Fuel mileage is 13. If I pull a trailer (even a small one) my mileage is 8 or 9. Now the turbo is shot, both manifold gaskets are shot again, and I'm blowing oil through my engine, into the turbo. I love this truck, but it can't hang with a v8. The engine is working to hard under the stress of the turbo.
