Built Ford tough!
I bought my 05 f150 v6 back in 2009 and has never giving me any problems. It started off at 19,000 miles and just hit 70,000.This truck is great if your looking for something dependable and big. my only problem would be the lack of power and torque. It is very safe too I got rear ended by a expedition at a red light and it only made a small dent in my bumper. The passenger air bag also shuts off when a child is in the front, this feature could save a life.
2005 REG CAB 2WD XL 4.2 4A
Just got a used one and it is more then meets the eye. so smooth quiet 4 whl disc brakes. Manual everything, perfect truck to get things done without wasting money on luxury car options. Will definetly outlast other trucks for the same money. Solid safe frame and suspension built to last. Not a tin can waiting to be crushed and disposed. Before you buy another truck find one of these base model F150 4.2 and feel the difference. For real people who want real truck to get real things done.

Great Truck for a lady
I have had my beast for over a year now and I am still in love with her! The drive on the freeway every morning is a breeze and any off roading is just as smooth. It has enough pick up to jump into Houston traffic and it handles quite smooth for its size. It is easy to get in and out of with a skirt and heels; the bed isn't too high so I can still reach in and get items I put in the back with ease. The half cab is GREAT for shopping and the extra storage is always a plus. They just need to start making the other cars taller so they can be seen in the rear view!
05 F150XL work truck package
It has the best ride of any previous Ford trucks. The frame is stiff enough to cancel out the pothole vibrations that usually shake the beds of most trucks. The V6 isn't fast, but it hauls well with the 8ft bed full of gravel. If you drive with the torque instead of revving up, it returns about 20 mpg. Dead reliable for over 30k miles now.
Work Truck
I wanted a bigger truck to replace my Ranger, but couldn't find what I really wanted - a big truck with good gas mileage. I typically drive a lot of highway miles at high altitude and high speeds on long trips and needed more power, speed and comfort than the Ranger could give and this truck does it all. From carrying 20 8ft railroad ties with the tailgate up to driving 800 miles per day or commuting. I think that with a tonneau cover I could regularly break 20 mpg, I regularly get 19-19.5 on the highway and up to 16 mpg in town. Interior has great space and is well designed. Low wind noise at speed and handles very well. Outright acceleration could be better but torque is sufficient.
