What a great ride
I live in Northern BC Canada and we have quite cold winters here where temps reach -40c. This vehicle had started great and drives very well in the snow and ice. It's too bad this truck does not have a little more power. Still is great for long drives and seats 2 adults and three young kids quite comfortably. Corrosion protection is awesome and touch button 4wd works great. AC and heater both crank and sound system is excellent
Ford Explorer Review
When I bought my Explorer I loved it. Last year my transmission started to go out and its been downhill since. I have talked to a lot of Explorer owners and found that they also have had to replace their transmission for the same model.

My first SUV
I recently had my car repoed and needed something to get me around. I found a guy selling an Explorer and jumped at the offer. I couldn't refuse the price. It has some body rust but nothing major. The previous owner put 2k of work into it and and the shocks are too small for the vehicle. The gas pedal eases to the floor and the back hatch handle is very tough. Other than the suspension and brake issue, it just needs a loving owner and a nice new oil filter...My biggest general complaint would be gas mileage, but I guess being 16 yrs old, it was top of the line then.
Been a good Truck
I have had explorer 10 years this month. I'm turning 200k this month and have not had to do anything but standard maintenance. However, I'm starting to hear some internal engine noise (lifter?) Primarly used for family travel. Started using a quart of oil every 1200 miles at about 180k. Changed oil every 3000, but never.. never gave tune-up. It was still getting 15 - 17 MPG!.
