2017 Expedition EL Platinum power running boards

I bought this Expedition used (12K miles) two years ago. I have been very satisfied with everything. After returning from vacation, I scheduled a regular oil change (36000 miles and 3 years old) with the local dealership and also mentioned the power running boards were noisy and acting up. The running board pivots and motors need to be changed at over $1500 per side. Since the mileage is 762 miles and 20 days out of bumper to bumper warranty, it's on me. The service writer gave me Ford Customer Service number. Customer Service could find NO warranty information other than the VIN and date of service. The vehicle had been a Canadian rental fleet vehicle which I bought through a US Ford dealership. Since there is nothing in the base, there is no warranty....just my tough luck.

Bought Car New - Now has 90K miles on it

Car is to expensive for what I got. Bought Platinum Model replacing an Expedition 10 years old. Workman ship was not what I expected for a top of the line SUV. Sun room slider was not flush with opening. A number of plastic pieces on drivers seat broke. Passenger side mirror became to pucker on simulated chrome. Sync3 will not allow favorite stations from FM-AM-Sirius to be on same bar. Rear lights are regular bulbs and weak for SUV, headlights are not very bright. Expected a lot in the 10 years from one model to the 2017. Drives ok, great acceleration for a V6, millage is poor. Have to fiddle with displays to get them close to what I want, but not what I want. Map system navigation is poor and does not update quickly when In use. General layout is ok (same as 10 year old model).

First & Last Ford, not safe for families

Vehicle Not Safe for Families, 11/14/2022

I bought the expedition because of the room and comfort. Seemed to be reliable until 60K miles. The heat and air went out and it turned out to be a recall that caused interior fires, they used my extended warranty to repair it and charged me the $100 deductible, because the recall parts are not available until 2023(but the problem occurred August 22). I was driving back to and the brake fluid light came on quickly and disappeared, then i tapped the brake and there was no brakes. The car had to be towed it turns out this is a master cylinder recall, good thing I had no one in the car with me not safe. The left front tire came off it sent the vehicle spinning into the air and I was lucky it went off the side of the interstate instead of in the interstate with oncoming traffic. 66K miles the vehicle has always been serviced by Randy Marion Ford, and two weeks after the service I was traveling on the interstate and a low engine oil light came on. I called the service department I was told not to drive it I took to the service department dropped it off. It had 20 different codes on it, they are going to see if the extended warranty will cover it. It only cover lubricated parts and the tear down is $1100.00 per tax and the warranty company requested the tear down to find the concern for the failure. I had to agree to pay this in the event the warranty doesn't. Ford is not built to last, it is not safe for families. When I get the vehicle back I'm going back to Toyota!

Best car I’ve ever owned. Love the size, handling and overall feel of solid safety. I’ve owned an Escape and Explorer and liked both of them equally but my absolute favorite is the Expedition. Will buy another one when necessary.
