1999 Ford Expedition XLT 4dr SUV

Review

I think that the 5.4 XLT is great
value. So far so good with reliability.
(knock on wood).I got all the E.B.
features on mine with the running
boards,fog lights leather, third row
ect. Gas isn't the best but it is a big
suv and gas prices are high.I heard if
u remove third row seat you could save
a mile per gallon. So far i am happy
with my expo.It runs very strong.

Best Features

5.4 liter engine runs very strong and fast compared to 4.6 liter engine.leather seats.great prices for used ford suv's compared to other trucks.Size and value.

Worst Features

Breaks and roters are alot at dealership. Add 50 more horsepower to 5.4

1999 Ford Expedition XLT 4dr SUV 4WD

Review

I purchased my 1999 Expedition for my
wife who wanted a larger vehicle for
safety reasons. After owning the
vehicle for 3 months the transmission
went out. $2600 later were back on the
road. 15 months later the transmission
went out again. A freind has a 1999
F250 whos transmission went out 2
weeks before mine did. Another Freind
just purchased a brand new 2004 F350.
At 6000 miles his tranny went out on
him also. Beware Ford parts are very
expensive. Ford may claim they have
the most popular truck, however, in my
opinion, I will never by a FORD again.

Best Features

The Expedition compaired to other competitive products was much more appealing from a Fook / Feel / Comfort point of view.

Worst Features

Also notice that the guages will not always work when you first start the vehicle.

Review

This truck was purchased used with
56K, now has 62K and everything is
starting to go wrong with it! Head
gasket is now leaking oil ($1500
repair). Heated seats have been
replaced already ($370 each), rear
door molding is defective, wiper/turn
signal switch defective-wipers go on
whenever they want to, Gas mileage is
VERY POOR for this vehicle! We are now
getting rid of this and going with a
Japanese SUV, hope you do to! Don't
waste your time on this car if you
dont like going back to the dealer
every 3 months.

Best Features

Nice roomy interior, many options offered.

Worst Features

Needs better gas mileage and Ford needs to conduct recalls for common problems (like the head gasket on the 99 5.4L).
