Used 2020 Ford Escape Titanium 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid EVT) Consumer Reviews
We love this vehicle in so many ways!
We bought the Titanium hybrid with AWD. In all around driving so far, we're averaging 40.5 mpg - on mostly freeway driving even with AWD. On some trips of 50 miles, we've achieved 49.5 mpg! Amazing - very pleasant surprise. There is very little negative to report and it's minor such as eliminating the CD player. The choice was between the Toyota RAV4 and this vehicle. The hybrid RAV4 we tried had wonky brakes that we would supposedly "get used to" where the Escape hybrid has excellent and normal feeling brakes. Despite having slightly less horsepower, our hybrid can pass cars with ease at all speeds, and it's quiet - something that really bothered us about the RAV - it was a bit throaty when accelerating and made a funny noise every time we braked. We thought about waiting to try out the new Honda CRV first but we decided not to wait after trying out the Escape. Besides an excellent sound system and bells and whistles that are easy to access and work flawlessly, we were surprised at the roominess inside.

Great car with some inconveniences
This is a great car. I am getting better milage than the EPA estimates and I enjoy driving it. My first trip in it was an hour and a half across the Southern Green Mountains of Vermont. The car has plenty of power when climbing hills. I had no problems passing slower vehicles and I never noticed the gas motor cutting in or stopping for that matter. The handling is very responsive and feels good. The steering is tight, not too loose but not too stiff either. The seats are super comfortable. Visibility out of all the mirrors is great although, like most, you are better off with the rear headrests lowered if you don't have passengers back there. Two issues that are not deal breakers but you should be aware of. You have to walk around the car to fold down the read seats (and their headrests) and release each half. There is no release in the back of the car. In addition, Android car play does not work unless the phone is connected via a USB cable. With bluetooth and WiFi in the car, one or other of them should be able to connect. The wireless charging is great but it;s purpose is defeated by the need to pulg in a cable for Adroid Auto. Everythnig else works as advertised. The carpets are easy to clean and there is a 12 volt outlet on the left rear side panel that is great for powering a vacuum or a refrigerated cooler. I'd still advise a set of floor liners front and back. All in all, I am pleased with the purchase and would have no problem suggesting it to a friend.

Unreliable hybrid
Update: my car, a 2020 Escape titanium hybrid was fine for one year. Then it went dead. They said it was the battery. I kept getting messages that I either has to turn off the car or turn it on. A second dealer couldn’t figure out what it meant. My dealer contacted Ford who was going to send a rep to figure out the problem. I waited 5 months, he never showed. It went dead again at night with no one around. It again had to be taken on a flatbed. Again they put in a new battery. I tried to contact someone up the line in management but could only get to customer service. If I wanted to get someone higher I had to write a letter to Ford and mail it. I thought about it for a few days, evaluated my driving habits and decided it was too unreliable and got rid of it. Never to but another Ford. My AMERICAN CARwas made in Mexico with a Spanish motor and all kind of foreign parts. I bought a 2023 Kia Niro hybrid and it handles and is more comfortable than the Escape. Also, as a point of interest Kia produces its car with parts made in Korea, including the steel, giving them total control of the whole production process. I have not a single product with this car. Plus I average about 52 mpg mostly driving. So much for Ford backing it’s products. THIS CAR WAS TRADED IN

Never thought I would love a Hybrid
I love this car, I purchased the Titanium model with the panoramic roof and heads-up display. I researched for months and had narrowed down my choice to three vehicles from three auto makers but the look and new styling of the Ford Escape Hybrid in addition to the mpg made me go test drive that vehicle first. I purchased it the same day in the beautiful metallic black with black interior. I have gotten 48.5 to 49 mpg on several trips and average 38.7-39 mpg combined. The ride is smooth and the interior is comfortable with every accessory within easy reach. I didn't like the Adaptive Cruise Control at first but once I got use to it I love it and it is my go to for highway driving. Everything else is fantastic from the audio, the automatic high-beam lights, all the safety options, the alternate drive transmissions, the Apps available, the ease of Sync and the My Ford Pass. I was worried that as a Hybrid it would not have enough power to merge into traffic or for passing on the highway but that has not been an issue at all-it has enough pep to get the job done. With our last snow the AWD worked without a problem. I have noticed a rattling noise when I shut the passenger and back right door. Maybe a loose pan somewhere? Has anyone else had this problem? When I can get the car into the dealership I will have them check it out. My only complaint is that I wish the lower portion of the driver seat was able to be adjusted backward for short people. The edge of the seat hits the back of my knees at just the most uncomfortable spot and I have tried multiple adjustments to try to correct it or make it more comfortable. I just think my legs are too short for the length of the seat. It is a minor complaint, but on long trips where I get close to that 50 mpg mark, it is a distraction. I have already recommended this vehicle to so many people-it is a fantastic SUV and your budget will love the money you save on gas.

Overall best small hybrid SUV 4.5 stars
After having owned the Titanium AWD hybrid for 3 months and 3200 miles I'm glad I bought this Escape. I drove the Escape then The Rav4 , then the CRV hybrids in that order. After weighing everything I liked and didn't like about each the Escape won. IMO its better looking, better handling, infotainment is much better than the other two and gas MPG is great, in mixed driving best tank 42.2 worst 39.1. Its not a rock crawler but the AWD system works great on dirt roads and I've driven through rocky streams with no trouble while in electric mode most of the time.
