Used 2003 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
Great inexpensive SUV
I love my little SUV. I was a always a car driver - and this feels quite like a car - so for those looking for a truck feel, you dont' get it. I traded a Toyota Avalon, so the ride is not in the same class, but the new Avalon is over $10,000.00 more than I paid for the Escape.
Lemon or not a Lemon
In the beginning the vehicle was great. I did all the required servicing of the vehicle. But, after I had gotten to about 21,000 miles something went tottaly wrong. The head gasket blew, which caused me to be without my vehicle for 3 weeks. My local dealership told me they needed to replace the whole engine, since it was shot. Soon after the new engine was in place, i noticed some tapping noises at under 25mph. So, I took it back and at 25,000 miles the exhaust manifold had to be replaced. Now that I have 34,000 miles on it I am noticing more noises coming from the enginge compartment, along with sluggish shifting between gears. What is the problem now?

LOVE MY ESCAPE
I THINK THE ESCAPE IS THE PERFECT SUV. I ENJOY THE RIDE AS IT IS SMOOTH AND COMFORTABLE. IT DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A TRUCK, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A TRUCK CAPACITY. MY PASSENGERS STATE THAT THE BACK SEAT IS ROOMY AND COMFORTABLE FOR THEM.
marks escape
great vehicle and fun to drive too
New 2003 Excellent
I spent major time looking and test driving Hyundai , Honda , Mazda etc. and reading reviews on all of them including Ford Escape. This smaller midsize SUV is about the very best "bang for the buck" . I used to have a Ford Explorer so let me tell you guys , this Escape is NO ladies SUV. Great ride , vision , mileage and plenty of power to tow my 18 foot LUND boat!
