Love my 92 Talon Tsi AWD Turbo
After 12 years and 133,000 fun miles, it is still a great car to drive! Regretfully, I'm trading it in tomorrow. It is using a little oil now but otherwise is still purring as when it was new. It has a great throaty sound when the turbo kicks in and pushes you back in the seat. It loves the back roads but really slices down the freeway, too. I know I'm going to miss this car
Great car
Its a great ar to drive its fast and fun.

1992 TSI AWD
I bought the car w/1477 miles on the odometer back in 11/92. While I think the performance is very good, reliability is an issue. I am currently on my 3rd transfer case - the first blew w/38,000 miles on it, the second at 79,000 miles. I have the car serviced regularly, use only synthetic fluids, change oil every 3,000 miles and all fluids every 24,000 so maintainace is not the issue.
Surprised
I was told before I bought this car that it is nothing but problems, but then I found out that this is because other DSM owners want you to think this so they can buy it and have a 2nd DSM. I have had mine for a few months now, no problems at all. Not as fast as my Z28, but just as much fun. AWD is fun to play with from a stop or cornering and the turbo noise and power is outstanding. I paid $2300 for mine in Novemeber of 2002 with 66k miles and with a K&N cone filter and aftermarket UICP. Low 13 second car with less than a $800 invested, you can't beat the performance.
my 93 Talon
This car is my first car and I bought it cash. The first thing that got my attention about this car was the stylish look from the outside and the nice configuration in the inside. even though I have the slowest model of the talon I have put many of extra parts to make it just as fast as the Talon ES. I am very pleased with every feature on this car.
Excellent car
Drove this car for 7 years. No problems for majority of time I had it. For 6 years, no problems at all. Replaced all belts and the tie rods recently. That is only major repair in the time I've owned it. Car has been extremely reliable, incredible gas mileage (drove from WI to NE on ONE TANK of gas each way) Handles very well. It IS small though, back seat comfort not great and because it's so low, sometimes hard to see in traffic. Was really happy with this car.
a gem that sells cheap
I got this car early 2003 for $1,300. My first car, I knew nothing about driving before this purchase. Now I have driven it for 3 yrs, still runs very well, and ride is comfortable and fun. It has 175K miles and no major mechanical problems. The only money I paid after purchase was the reasonable maintenance cost. People around me tend to believe only Japanese cars get you high mileage and reliability. While I believe they are wrong! In fact, myself and some other friends learned how to drive stick shift on this car, what a deal!
its keeps on going, no repairs
The body is made in the usa and is falling apart, interior panels missing, locks broken, but the engine is made in japan. This care is like the energizer rabbit. In 10 years I have not made a single repair on the engine except a gasket leak, rebuilt the transmission when the car hit 90,000, and tune-ups. A very reliable car. (electrical system is not so great)
A Great First Car
I have owned the car for 3 years and it was my first car. It had 120,000 miles on it when I bought it and I still use it as a daily driver with 155,000 miles on it. I did have to replace the distributor on it once, but that is the only mechanical thing I've done to it other than regular maintenance. The car has been through a lot and still runs like a top. The interior fits me like a glove. Some of the interior quality is not as good as the mechanicals of the car, but it has a pretty comfortable ride and is always a fun car to cruise in. It looks good, runs good, and gets pretty good gas mileage. My 5 speed usually gets around 30-32 mpg. This car was a great first car for me and I still love it.
1994 Talon TSi (front drive)
This is an awsome car for the money. Comes sotck with 195hp and can be boosted to 230hp by simply adding a bleader valve on the waste-gate. This car is extremely reliable considering the performance it delivers everyday with no major mechanical failure. My only complaint is "rough idle". The looks are second only to newer 2nd generation Talon, otherwise it's very well designed. Stay away from the AWD. The transmission seems to be weak on that model. The front drive tranny is very reliable just as long as you don't abuse it. This car is still capable of running with big boys like Mustang GT and Subaru WRX considering it's age. NICE JOB MITSUBISHI!!!!!!!
fast and fun, but unreliable
i owned a 92 eagle talon TSi AWD untill about 3 months ago. the car was nothing but problems for me. i paid about 5500 for the car a little aver a year and a half ago. while it was very fun to drive, and the ability to smoke any civic is fun, the bad outwieghed the good. i put $1600 into a new tranny, $1500 into a new cylander head and timing belt, and then i threw a rod, which would have been at least $3000 to fix. that is with no performance parts on the car, i threw a rod, it is a poorly designed vehicle, panels rusted, despite constant waxing, when the car was babyed, still had problems.
Fun like a gorgeous high-maint. wife
From the test drive on, I loved it. It's fast, fun, fun and fun. Just like a gorgeous girlfriend, I loved taking it out and showing it off. Boy, I was a proud man. After a couple of years, I noticed that the alternator just didn't keep pace with the demands of electronics. I've gone through about 5 alternators & about 10 batteries. I'm now on my third water pump. I'm actually happy that the original starter is still working. What I'm trying to say is, keeping up with maintenance on this car has been more than what I expected. This is especially true of the need to replace the timing belt at regular intervals. It's a fun car but being married to her takes a lot of work!
power
i have had my talon since january of this year. its a great car however it burns a lot of oil after sitting at a red light for a while. I get decent gas mileage bu the car could use a few extra horsepower and ft/lbs torque. Also the hard shifting into second and sometimes third gets rather annoying. but on the other side the car is quick and fun to drive.
Takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking
I have a non-turbo one and havent had a problem yet since the 25,000 miles I put on it. I beat on it hard and have only had to do the normal stuff to the car; oil changes, brakes, tires. Other than that it runs great and gets great gas mileage. I'm at 84,000 miles and still going. Good dependable work car.
4 Year 92 Talon owner
If you want a Talon buy the one with the 16V engine or Turbo 16V.One thing I find inaccurate about Edmunds TMV on this car that it does not distingush the std. Chrysler made 1.8L engine and the Mitsubiti made 2.0L 16V engine in it's calculations for the TMV.Eagle Talons are almost an exact replica of the Mitsubiti Eclipse. Over all I recommend this car to anyone looking to buy a fun sports car that is economical, dependable and affordable.
I love my Talon
I have had transmission troubles with my 5spd but the car treats you the way you treat it, I race my n/t car it has 130+whp with full exhaust and cold air intake! The turbo AWD guys cant figure out how I keep up so well, because they have 146whp dynoed stock to all fours while I save weight to just the two! The 90-99 Talon and 92-94 Laser are built equivalent to the Eclipse of the same year!
1992 Eagle Talon Non Turbo
Over all this car has been very good to me. I have had to do basic maintenance and a few bigger things like the timing belt and a valve job...but that can be expected at 260000 km. Its great
Never Sell my TALON
The car is FAST, beautiful, and I would say fairly reliable. I'm impressed with the quality of workman ship building it. Of course, every car has it's problems and I have to agree with a few people here that the tranny, and the valve seals (burning oil after idling for a while) have been a major maintence job. All in all, the car has been good to me and I've been somewhat good to it cause I love driving it hard. Again, I wouldn't sell it. I had people offering me $14,000 CAD for it 4 years ago.
1 quick car stock!
Being that this car is 13 years old things do go wrong. Bun if you are in to making horsepower and excellent handling, this is it. DSM's are some of the most amazing cars cars built and are fairly easy to modify for crazy amounts of horsepower.
Don't buy unless good wit the wrench
Dsms are trash in and out ...few good builds but in entirety just don't.....nothing but problems.....electrical issues are the worst The engine harness does not hold out...time really does a number on the wiring....not to mention other million problems these cars have
eagle
I have driven the vehicle over 136,000miles with only one major problem. I lost the timing belt at 59,000 and it bent my valves. Chrysler came good. I serviced it every 3K and it has treated me great. I still have it.
DL talon at its best
This car is a great get her there and back with no worry's and very inexpensive. So good I've went through 5 of them and still have one today, enjoy!

94 Eagle Talon DL
This is a great car. It has been reliable and it is great fun to drive. It handles great, is fairly quick, and the brakes are excellent. I have not had any problems with the electrical system on mine. For the money, this is an awesome car.
Awesome all the way
i love my car i got it in the beginning of may i bought it from the original owner with 76000 miles from an older gentelman very well taken care of except for the interior needed some major cleaning.. very fast and reliable only minor problems so far and still running strong
turbo awd
love the car all around fun car
Excellent car
This is the best car I've ever had. No repair (execpt brakes). The rust can't grab it. excellent!
Low budget sporty car
I bought this Talon back in 2000 after my Supra was totaled. I was happy when I paid $4000 for it back then. Besides changing twice on alternator in 2001 and 2004, and busted axle, I was pretty happy with my ride until recently some nut crashed into my car. Totaled it. I get a total of $ 3100 which is pretty decent!. A fun cheap sporty car for someone with low budget.
'94 Eagle Talon DL
I bought a '94 about three years ago (2000) used with 99,000 miles on it. It now has 137,000 and it's still running strong. This car has great mechanical reliability, but the electrical system has all kinds of problems. It's fast and sporty . . . a lot of fun to drive. If you want a pretty reliable car with a little bit of extra power, at a good price, pick this.
great car
I've owned a Jeep xj 4x4, a Mazda mx-6 (v6) and the talon, and it is by far the fastest, most reliable, fun car to drive/own.
Avoid this Car...Trust Me!!!
I bought this red car 2 years ago because of the sporty design and price. And I paid for my mistake of picking looks/price over reliability. I put $6000+ into it: clutch, radiator, alternator, starter, rear brakes, piston replacements, timing belt, headlight wiring, and more. Cabin noise was VERY loud, it shook when you drove over 45mph, 2nd gear grinds, AC never worked, emergency brake never worked, and getting into reverse required 2 hands. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't regret buying this car. Do yourself a favor and get a Toyota or Honda instead. Much more reliable.
