Used 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Quad Cab Consumer Reviews
What you would expect
I have 06 Ram Big Horn 1500. I don't get the mileage everyone is talking about and nor does anyone of my friends who has the Hemi Dodge. We all get around 11.5 to 14.5 mpg but hey it's a truck with a Hemi. Performace is good but typical Dodge with power dropping after 6-8 months. I've countered this with a cold air kit, Banks power pack and superchips programmer. Mpg now at 12 to 14. Interior is not of the Ford or Chevy but that's what you get for $10000 less. Still take the Dodge over the Chevy or Ford any day of the week. Best looking truck out there I think. No mechanical probs yet. Make sure you get anti-spin diff other wise power will leave you spinning in the rain or snow.
My first new truck in 16 years
I have had the truck for just over a month now and I love it. I drive 40 miles each way to work and am getting about 17 miles to the gallon. Better than I expected! The 4.7 has more than enough power for my use and the interior provides all the room I need to get my family around. Dodge could make a locking tailgate standard. I had to go and by one to prevent it from being stolen. All in all I love the look and ride it provides. Hope to keep it for 10 years or 250,000 miles.

3rd Ram truck in 6 years
I have had a 2002, 2004 & now the 2006 Ram 1500 which I have been driving for 1 year. I had no problems with the first two but the 2006 from the moment off the lot with under 10 miles on it the wheel shakes bad at all different speeds not just over 60 miles. It has been in the shop a dozen times and they have replaced the front struts, several wheel alinments & balance the tires. Still have the problem and it's been a year. Now the front shocks make a terrible sound when driving on even payment but they have order new ones under warranty. I really enjoyed the 2004 but this one is a lemon and I'm switching to GM in two years when te lease is up.
True Statement
I bought my truck in Texas when my old Dodge finaly died. The water pump went and I didnt have time to fix it. I was pulling a trailer from C.C. Tx to Las Vegas NV. I was already late getting to Las Vegas. That weekend I had stared on Friday and didn't get in till Tuesday. Driving to Las Vegas there are a few step hills and the truck had to shift down to a lower gear in order to complete the climb. I was pulling a 25 fifth wheel. The avg MPG was 12.3. Its not that bad but it could have been better. In city driving, the avg MPG is 11.5 Poor rating. I think truck manufactures need to do something about this. When in idle sitting at a red light take out a few cyclinders. We have ways to do it.
Bad factory warranty
Love the truck, except the transmission shifts rough. There is a buzzing noise and vibration the dealer cant seem to find. And I don't have the money to keep renting trucks while thay try to figure it out. So if you buy a Dodge they don't cover rental when your truck breaks. That's why my next truck will not be a Dodge. Because looks ain't everything when you drive for a living and have to buy a new truck every year.
