2004 DODGE RAM 1500
The truck is a good truck dependable, nice looking, except it just barely reached 70,000 miles and just was told transmission needs to be rebuilt. Apparently this happens alot with Dodge trucks. The company that told me about the tranny has been in business 37 years and very reputable. Don't use truck for really anything than driving to and from work so it's not used often. To have tranny issues already is messed up. Other than that no other issues it's just the 1 issue is major and very expensive. Don't think I would be buying a Dodge again, unless the warranty holds up... checking on that now.
Unstoppable
I've had this truck for many years and have used it in deep snow, sand, and mud and nothing has stopped it. Mine is RWD only and it was pulling 4x4s out of sand and ditches no problem. My only complaints are the cheap looking interior and the bad mpg. Unless you need it as a daily driver for a long commute I'd definitely pick this any day. It's better looking than many other tucks in its time but is no slouch. Good for towing and hauling. Throw a dual exhaust on it and it sounds beautiful.

Amazing!
I bought the 3.7L Dodge well over a year ago and I couldn't be happier with it. It has a lot of pep on stock motor. I added JBA headers, high flow cats, true dual flowmaster mufflers, K&N cold air intake, and a JET computer chip. The power, MPGs, and torque that it added was unreal! There is no way I will ever sell this truck. If you are looking at buying one, SERIOUSLY seriously consider buying this truck! You wont be disappointed, even with all stock parts, I promise.
what a BLAST!!
when first i laid eyes on it it stuck out from the croud of other Dodge's on the lot. When i got in it, i knew this truck was for me. Though it looked much like its brothers sitting idly beside it. When i drove it, i bought it. It is the best looking truck on the road. it is a blast to drive...it is as quick on the road as it is opening the wallet as the fuel economy lacks strength. i am overall, excited about this vehicle and its performance on the road.
Talk About an Impulse Buy
After leaving Lowe's one day without the ladder I needed, I decided I had to have a truck. Traded in my baby would- be-paid-off-in-a-month Grand Prix for a Silver Hemi Ram. Everything I could ever want in a truck, and more. After hauling 3 things 4 miles in 2 months, and dropping twice as much on gas, I came to the frightening realization that I had made a mistake. I don't NEED a truck. Unfortunately, neither does anyone else, so I'm stuck and more upside down than a cake. Don't get me wrong, the truck is hot and fun (in a straight line), but I feel trapped.
Great Value
Needed a truck. Bought bottom of the line but no one can tell. Added cruise control (good move) and a liner(bad choice). A problem with the gauges was corrected but took a while.
Still happy with my truck after 2 years.
No real complaints, bought it to use as a light duty truck and in that respect it works flawlessly. A bit unhappy with Dodge's claims about the gas mileage, I see nowhere near 21 on the highway, more like 14-15, but I did not buy it solely for the gas mileage.
Ram 1500 Review
Absolutely fell in love with this truck after test driving it. The 5.7L HEMI engine meets and exceeds all of the hype created by the dodge commercials. I was actually in the market for the 4.7L engine, which has more than ample power, but after comparing it to the HEMI found that there was no comparison. What is interesting is that the HEMI produces over 100 more horse power but only loses ~1mpg in fuel efficiency. Besides the engine, another thing that really impresses me about the Ram is the way it handles. I was very surprised at the way such a big truck can move and handle. Overall, everything about this truck has thus far exceeded my expectations
Not bad for a Dodge
My first dodge since my parents had a aspen. Bought it used with 23,000 now showing 56,000 and have no problems with the truck. I replacing the plugs after 20,000 and found it easy to do. Flushed all fluids and again it not expensive to do. Fit and finish is fine for a truck. Seats a little flat but do work and easy to keep clean. Plastic hard but easy to clean. Not a perfect truck but those thinking none American companies can do better they can not. Owned a toy and a kia and traded them for Ford and Dodge. Read owners manual and keep up on the maintenance and found that these truck are pretty good. Now thinking of replacing the Ford with a Charger. Most reviews are good.
4.7 bad motors
I love the Dodge style and ride but the 4.7 is a horrible motor. I have replaced 2 on my truck that only has 119,000 miles. After talking to techs at dealerships and looking online I see that Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler have had many problems with this motor. I will never make a purchase of any vehicle with this motor again.
4.7 Regular cab w/5speed auto- ST model
My reference vehicle is my work truck, a 2000 ford f150 4X4 with the 4.6 and a four speed auto. The Dodge is noticeably faster with the 4.7 and the five speed auto. I love this transmission and engine! The mileage was not good for the first 1500 miles but has since improved to the advertised figures. I love the spacious cab. The only negative has been the ride. The dodge has a good highway ride but is a little harsh over bumps in the city. The ride seems to have gotten better as the miles have piled on or maybe I've just gotten used to the ride? Overall I'm very pleased with this truck and would reccomend it.
Satisfaction
The few months that I've had this vehicle I've found that it's perfomance, driveability and it's appearance/style is the best in it's class. Ford and Chevy don't come close. I noticed immediately the cabin space difference between the Chevy Silverado, which I owned, and the cabin space alone in my Dodge Ram, huge difference. I am glad I made this purchase and I am completely satisfied, overall. The style and the big rig look is what really won me over. Thanks.
Great truck
This vehicle is roomy and a great buy. Rides smooth and is a great buy for the money.
All Dodge Family!
Love the interior and exterior appearance. Silver paint and 20 inch chrome wheels really add to the appearance. Slate gray leather interior (Laramie package). Very smooth ride. Added nerfs, bug deflector and locking gas cap (mopar). Truck has been a real head-turner. Excellent service from dealer and a GREAT deal! Purchased at end of month AND quarter, AAA purchase program (invoice + 1-5%), cash, $1500 incentive. Used Internet to research purchase THOROUGHLY! Truck has poor gas mileage (expected this!). Loose gas cap will cause check engine light to turn on.
ass kicking ram
big and roomy, what else can i ask for? i have a 4.7 liter engine and added flowmaster 40 series.you can now hear me coming two blocks away. everyone loves the sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great truck
great truck, no problems
Pretty happy, though I would want...
This is a great truck. It is not a Nissan Titan, but the Nissan was not available in a single cab with a eight foot bed either. The Fords, in my oppinion have inconsistent build quality, no option for side airbags (though Ford designed them in, the feedback in customer clinics caused Ford to nix them), and the lack of a single cab model with full equipment. The GM designs are old, the Toyota was old and only offered a stripped down model for single cabs.
awsome truck
for the 2wd i purchased it handled the off road just as well as any 4wd would do aside from getting stuck in the mud the truck was more than expected.
Love my Dodge
The 1500 Ram that i got is one of the better trucks out there....
Review: '04 Ram 1500 SXT, 2wd, 5.7L HEMI
Dodge has produced a fine truck (My truck being a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SXT, 5.7L HEMI, Regular Cab). The HEMI engine gives the driver power and speed. It's great for the person who loves trucks and the sporty feel of vehicles. The actions and performance of the new HEMI makes the driver feel more alive! It has good pulling/howling power, but I bought my HEMI as a "Sports Truck," meaning it's a sports car gone to a truck form. My Rating: 10/10 (Only problem, if you take it as one... all right on gas, but can be a little better. Listed, CITY MPG: 14, HIGHWAY MPG: 18. $40+ to fill it up from empty)
Fast
This truck is fast powerfull for a litte V8 this thing can really rock. It has the good features without the price.
gas milage sucks 5.7 hemi
good power, beware average gas milage 11.2, will not pass a gas station! resale value sucks.
Pocket rocket work horse
I have owned my 2wd reg slt cab for two weeks now, and had no adjustment period. The truck felt like it was designed for me. The hemi performance is awesome, and ride quality is excellent (but you still know your in a truck). The dealership after the sale has been terrific. I think Dodge has listened to the consumer and produced a truck that will be a force to recon with among the top three. This is my first Dodge, and I am impressed with the fit and function of the truck. I definately recommend it, and if you have driven the Ford and Chevy do yourself a favor drive the dodge.
Cant Dodge it? Ram it...
I've had this truck for 8 months, and I've enjoyed her. I've added a CD player and subwoofer, having a camper top (bought her with it) helped when moving home at end of college year. I'm a big guy (6'2") and I fit perfectly in the driver seat, the white faced gauges are easy to see/read. The lack of shelving behind the seats were a dissappointment, so i built some of my own. The 4.7L at times seems underpowered but gets the job done satisfactorally. All and all, she is a great truck.
better than srt10
best truck on market i have rumble bee love this truck speed, power;looks & reliable love itso much bought wife a 2004durango to keep her out of my truck (didnt work shes in my truck now) durango is great also. by one or both you will be very happy
Dodge Ram 34677
Love my truck, alot of fun to drive.Had a 2003 Ram with a v6,don't buy a v6(no power with AC on)V8 is the only way to go.
Yeah it's got a Hemi.
Ride is a little too stiff, but there is ample room in the interior and the 5 speed auto- trans is very smooth on the Hemi.
HEMI
Really nice truck. I've owned many Fords but after checking out all the new styles on the market, Dodge was the best. I went with the HEMI 5.7 liter with 20 inch wheels. Lots of power and comfort. I love this truck. Check around on pricing as I found....I paid a little too much!! Milage could be better. Quad cab not needed if you dont have kids,as rear storage area is HUGE!!
i loved my truck
it was a great truck untill my wife took it . it performed very well off road
YEAH ITS GOT A HEMI !!
I purchased a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 RC, HEMI equipped (of course). And I have to say I've had about 15 trucks in my time and this Ram , by far, Out performs all of them in ALL areas!!
MY TRUCK
This Ram 4WD is one fun piece of machinery. I've got the off-road group with the HEMI and the thing has exceeded my expectations with its off- road performance. Its been able to keep up with a friend's Jeep Cherokee (with a 3" lift and some fat tires) in some muddy spots. It performs well on the road as well. Love feeling that 345 horse power under my right foot. My only complaint is that the thing loves the gas as just as much as I love the beer. But I guess I knew that before I bought the thing. Still a great buy and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a bad-ass truck.
Always loved a dodge
I love this pick up. The 5.7 hemi preforms better than my parents 5.9 engine. It does well on and off road. Cost a little bit to much too buy and to put gas in it. Especially in the 34 gallon tank,But worth the money.
Dodge Daota Best Pickup I Ever Bought!
i woulld highly recomend buying this truck over any other pickup.
ram hemi
this truck so far as been trouble free.I get better milage than I expeceted.every thing fits right and works the way it should. So far I am very pleased with this truck and would recommend it highly.
yesa
its just swell... love the hemi!
Brakes Bad
The front brakes have been bad since 5100 miles. I turned rotors, replaced rotors ar 12136 miles and now it has 24000 miles and I still have the same warping on front rotors, The dealership has now decided I drive the truck too hard and they now want ot charge me $180 to turn rotors that only have 12,000 miles on them. Never buy another Chrysler product.
I love my truck
It drives like a truck. I hate it when people say it drives so smooth like a car, it is not a car it is a truck, and it drives like one.
My gas guzzler
Great truck, poor gas, I have the 5.7 HEMI, It will pull anything, anywhere as long as there a place to get fuel on the way.
Love that hemi
Compared to other trucks I have driven (and I've driven most) this thing handles well and will really move. Style listing is incorrect and not available to choose from. My truck is a SLT short bed with the 5.7 liter Hemi. The Hemi has lots of torque-very smooth power! I have timed it a 6.6 seconds 0- 60. Nice interior design and comfortable. Mileage (after break-in) is up to 17.4 with a bed cover installed. Was 16.5 without. (in both cases the mileage represents a very light foot on the throttle-hard to do with the available power. You could easily get 13-14 if your not careful.
LOVE MY DODGE
LOVE THE DESIGN. LOVE THE WAY IT HANDLES. GAS MILEAGE NOT PERFECT, BUT WHAT THE HELL. WHAT IS? I THINK IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TRUCK ON THE MARKET. SOMEONE ASKED ME HOW MUCH REAR END TORQUE IT HAS. I SAID WHO CARES, I RIDE NOT HAUL!
Kicks arse
I am a second time buyer of Dodge pickups. The first was a 1996 Dodge, both have been short boxes. The first I still have, just decided to get another. The first has almost 95,000 miles on it and is still trouble free. This one I fully expect the same of. The styling is great, the motor's performance is fantastic, and the whole truck is a real trip to drive. KUDOS to Dodge, great job!
Best truck on the market
Truck is great, chicks dig it. Big, tough and agile. Only problem is the gas mileage, but thats to be expected with a truck.
Best Vehicle I have ever owned!
Mine is actually an '02 but since Edmunds doesn't take previous years into account for current reviews, I'm posting it here. This is my first Dodge. A friend owned an 02 Ram and raved about it so I test drove and decided to buy it as I needed a new truck This is a phenomenal ride. Power, styling, features and it's quality! Over 30k on it, it had 1 recall (blower motor fan which I had done when I got my oil changed) no problems whatsoever. It's worth every penny!
good enough
very please with this truck
Dodge Hemi 4wd swb std 2 dr ram 1500
The 5.7 hemi is awsome for towing or heavy loads but gas mileage is awful! The truck rides unblievably good, light or loaded and its ashort wheel base!
Traded 2002 for 2004 Hemi
I've had great luck with all my Rams, however this new Hemi is just fun to drive.
Ram
In the 7 months i have had my dodge ram, it has been great. I have always wanted one, and now i do, its my first new car, and i cant complain. Few minor things such as no power locks/windows, or cruise control, but those i could live with out. I think those things should be included in base models, my 82 camaro had power locks and windows. The gas mileage i thought would be better, but for city, its not great. Gotta love that Ram look!!
Grrrrrrr
who would want an F-150 after driving this? :-)
Dodge Ram 4X4 Sport
where ever I go,it catches eyes. get the 20" wheels.
Ram Owners Opinion
The Ram1500 4wd is the the best truck i've ever owned. Been a GMC man most of my life but switched over after driving my cousins 2003 Ram 1500. This truck not only looks better than the competition, it outperforms them too. I went with the 5.7 liter HEMI engine, which simply blows the competition away. This truck is just fun to drive. Like to take it off the road occasionally also. Performs well there too.
