got it from new. had 100k miles and only water pump replaced. other was oil and brakes. the tail gate light switch issue is standart on this truck and i got the problem. i just disconnect the switch and go. In snow the control is the best I never see. so very reliable, fair driving and power, very good tractiion control, but cheap interior plastic. the center console was too big leaving less room for nothing. trunk wideness a little small, you could not put a plywood sheet. if the interior plastic was better quality and the console smaler i will give a 9 on 10 .. go ahead, you will like it.

As you know if you own a vehicle 10 years or more from new status then you basically got your return on your investment. i will tell you that the DODGE NITRO 2008 gave me that experience. I purchase the car brand new in 2008 from a dealer and basically i kept up with all the maintenance every 3000 miles per the handbook and i will tell you that vehicle has performed. it has pick up speed and it has only after 10 years finally a service engine light come on which was a $385 fix of an fuel injector. If you keep the maintenance up per the manual this SUV will be a true jeep engine. The only item i must complain about is the rust level on the back door. i kept washing the car thru the years weekly but somehow i got rust building up on the front grill and back door of the SUV and this cost i have not yet to take which $1500 to fix in a body shop. so if they come up with aluminum frame and body type and use the same engine it will be a hit. i used this SUV for 8 years and then gave to my son at 18 years of age who has used it for 2 more years and it is still going strong except of the rust. It still gets 22 miles per gallon and still has great pick up on the highway and is an SUV so in the snow and rain the tires do great!

I have had my Nitro for 8 years. Replaced front brakes once and water pump once . Other than regular oil changes no problems. Good investment. Paid for for several years. Think I'll keep it. Life time warranty.

I read the review by the customer that is obviously disgruntled, and couldn't disagree more! I've worked in the automotive industry for years, and can't recommend the Nitro strongly enough. The only detractor that can readily be noticed is the fuel economy; the 3.7L engine has my mileage at about 17 mpg (city). A little excessive if you ask me, but the rest of the car more than makes up for that. The Nitro is unbelievably stable for a vehicle its size. I own the 4 X 4, and found it to be great in snow. While evryone else was sliding, I was right on track. The styling right on the money, too. In short, you can't go wrong with this vehicle!
