Best Rear Seat in the Business!
I bought my '99 Intrepid used, after riding in a co-workers older model and finding a back seat that actually accommodated an overweight adult male. I rented a Chrysler Concorde on a trip east for a family funeral, and spent 3 days driving around my parents plus my sister and the widow. They had no trouble getting into and out of the back seat repeatedly. My middle daughter is 5'9" and not thin, and she preferred the back seat to the front because she could actually cross her legs without a problem. I always felt virtuous flying down the interstate with the low front end and raked windshield, as the SUV air plows spent $$$ pushing air out of the way. No other "family" car has that back seat
Nothing but mechanical problems
After five years of continuous mechanical problems, the 2.7L engine siezed for no apparent reason (we changed the oil pretty regularly), resulting in a total write-off. I wish I'd never bought the car.
Love the Intrepid
This is a great car, fun to drive. It handles well in high traffic cities. Very safe car! I was involved in an accident recently (was rear-ended) and my car came out looking much better than the one that hit me. I love my Intrepid!
Mobil1 oil for 2.7 engine is the secret
I had this intrepid for 4yrs. Changed brake pads, spark plugs, heater hoses, trans fluid, Mobil1 high mile, new tires, new speakers all around with the 2.7 v-6 engine with 170000 miles 3/5/08. Water pump still has not went
All talk no walk
The car is roomy, the interior and exterior styling is attractive and comfortable. I thought it was a lot of car for not a lot of money. It was in and out of the shop on a bi- monthly basis and eventually had the motor lock up. Not at all surprising for this year and model.
