2018 Grand Caravan SE - MUST REVIEW TIPS!
Be sure to purchase the Mopar Lifetime Maxcare Warranty if you are planning on owning the vehicle. You do not have to purchase the warranty from the dealer you are buying the car from. Shop it around and save a huge chuck of money. We purchase the Lifetime Maxcare warranty with the $100 deductible which pretty much everything excepts, brake pads/rotor/ and tires for as long as we own the vehicle. We purchased this one with 87 miles on it, without test driving it. Big mistake because the car was pulling to the right. Took us a few days to get it in to be serviced. Told that happens during shipment sometimes from loaded them on those huge trucks. A four wheel alignment did the trick. Hoping this will be our only issue with the vehicle. We also own a similar 2012 Grand Caravan which had to have the alternator replaced three times and brakes always sqeak (even when replaced). Overall tips: 1) Be sure to test drive the vehicle prior to signing the papers (even if brand new), 2) Shop multiple dealers for best price on the vehicle and any Mopar extended warranty plans, 3) Never sign an Arbitration Agreement from a dealership (why would you give up the right to sue if you have been wronged?), 4) If you have any problems with you new vehicle, report them to the dealership and directly to Dodge (especially if you have "Lemon Laws" in your state.

Great multipurpose vehicle.
Navigation by voice activation would be nice. Also, an audio component to the back up safety system would be helpful. This vehicle handles more like a car then a minivan. Comfortable with nice amenities.

Fourth Grand Caravan on 18 years - New 2018
I have had 4 Grand Caravans starting in 2003 which my son now owns and has over 160,000 miles on and it's still going. The best thing they did was adding the Sto-N-Go seats which I got in my 2006. I first got the Navigation N430 radio in my 2011 which was my must have in my new 2018. The 2011 had 89,000 miles, so I wanted to get a new 2018 because I've heard it was the last year for this body site. The new Chrysler Pacific van is a down sized body site and I like the roomier Caravan. I also want to give the 2011 to my son to replace the 2018. He is also still driving the 2006 which has over a 100,000 on it. What started me looking at the 2018 was Dodge was offering considerable discounts (up to $8K off). I didn't qualify for all of them but it made the final price reasonable. I have had excellent service out of all the Caravans I've owned. Other than standard maintenance items such as oil changes, tires and batteries. I had to replace very few other items on any of my Grand Caravans. Getting 19 miles to the gallon around town, 27 miles highway and mixed of about 24 mpg is astounding for such a large vehicle. The versatility is great. When we go camping and scuba diving being able to stow all seats allows us to pack all out gear. Normally, we leave the 2nd row seats up and there is still plenty of room for my golf clubs, coolers, suit cases etc. when we travel. If you are in the market for a large SUV or Minivan you might want to look into this last year of the Grand Caravan. It is the most bang for the buck I have been able to find in this market segment.

it wants to be a towncar...comes close enough.
I find that I usually prefer Chrysler packages over Dodge. Having owned 3 Dodge vehicles and 1 Chrysler I was looking forward to another Chrysler...would have like the new Pacifica or at least a late model Town & Country. I found the 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT to be a serious improvement on prior years and an improvement on the SE model. Unless you really feel you need the power and performance(it's a mini-van for pete's sake) this rig is a great machine. The 2.6L motor has plenty of guts with about 800Lbs of people in it and I doubt it lags much with all the shopping and other stuff a daily driver carries around. 0-60 is respectably zippy without having to punch it much. 60-85 on the freeway seems pretty effortless. Gas mileage will be lower than foreign cars/vans but that's kinda expected. Acceleration, steering, corners, basically all the performance issues are better on this rig than the equivalent Toyota Sienna I drove(higher priced). computer/audio-control screen could be bigger. no dash area for cell phone. no USB ports in the back area. power seat controls are on the door side base of the seats(some idiot thought that up). Suspension feels just a bit stiffer than my older Pacifica and van has slightly smaller tires so you feel the road a little bit more and there is just a bit more road noise in the cabin. those are my biggest gripes. Seats are comfy, layout is pretty good. wheel is very adjustable. seats(powered) are nicely adjustable. Audio system sounds great. Uconnect for using phone hands free works great...activated from the steering wheel thumb controls. this is a very

Great Car if you want to rebuild a transmission!
I currently own a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. Although the interior is great for space and has a capacity of seven passengers the performance is poor. Are Caravan had a 60,000 mile warranty. When it reached 64,000 miles the entire transmission went out. The transmission torque converter, which if you did not know is a round piece of steel in your transmission, got a hairline fracture in it. This tiny crack caused the entire transmission to fail. We had to pay $3,500.00 dollars for a rebuild. The company that rebuilt it AA Allstars were awesome ! They informed us that they were regularly replacing transmissions for Dodge Caravans because of this part. The mechanic said Dodge used a cheap steel for the torque converter. He also mentioned that there was a kit sold by Dodge to repair it because it was a common problem. When I contacted Dodge to get some type of reimbursement I was denied because my warranty stopped at 60000 and I was at 64000. In my opinion a vehicle bought new should not need a new transmission at 60000 miles.

Underrated
Bought a used Grand Caravan GT, a former rental fleet vehicle. So far this van has exceeded each and every expectation. Smart design, powerful drivetrain, best in class stow and go seats and a comfortable cabin. All for 10k less than the competition. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar this may the top vehicle in production for the 2018 model year. Its that good.

Transmission Timebomb!!
Stay away! Transmission blew at 89,000 miles requiring a total replacement. Dealer charged us $5,100 to replace. Unacceptable for a car that was 4.5 years old and just transported kids to school and baseball games.
Best family van
the seat and steering wheel warmers were the frosting on the cake! Safety and driving ease, this van has it all. I wouldn't buy any other.

Transmission went out at about 6,000 miles
Love the van the transmission they make in these vans are trash ! I had this van about 5 months and I don’t drive it that often. Only to work really. I did drive it on vacation. But transmission shouldn’t of went out at 6,000 miles. The van had one other owner.

NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY VEHICLE
We have had our van for almost a year now and the longer I have it the more I dislike it!! My husband, trying to do a nice thing, bought this van for me while I was out of town. However, it is not a family friendly vehicle. There is only one place on the back row with car seat latches and they don’t sit in a convenient location. They are practically in the middle of the larger fold down seat. So are car seat properly installed using the vehicle latches takes up 2/3 of the seating space in the back row. There aren’t any other latches in the back. I wanted to try to put 3 kids in the back as we are expecting our 4th and access to the back row is nice to help the younger children who still need help with seat belts. There is no way in the world, even without latches, I will EVER be able to get 3 car seats/boosters in the back row. There is also limited leg room all around. Inorder for my husband and I to have the MINIMUM leg room for comfort my 18 month old can kick my seat. If I adjust her seat to sit further back my 5 year old behind her has no room for his legs or even to get behind her. Making getting in and out even more challenging for him. Also, with a rear facing car seat or infant carrier your knees hit the dash board in order to give the amount of space required for safety. My husband can’t drive if we put our newborn behind the driver seat because even with the middle seat slid back as far as it can go, my husband doesn’t have enough leg room to drive without hitting the car seat and causing it to adjust the baby to sit at an unsafe angle. The stow and go middle seats are also really annoying. You have to adjust the front seat forward as far as it can go in order to life the cover to stow the seat. It’s the same thing if you want to try and use that dead space for storage or hauling groceries. And the mats that come with the van must be removed every time you want to put the seat up or down. So it’s anything but convenient. There is also a long row of swing down storage compartments down the center of the van. They hang right at head level and we are always bumping our heads on them and popping them open. They are really quite pointless as they aren’t designed to hold much more than a pair of sunglasses or a couple diapers. They are just in the way. The Bluetooth wireless calling is also flawed. I can tell it to “call mom” and it will ask if I was to call “David Daniels”. How do those even sound close to the same? From our experience so far, the van does it’s job as far a running smoothly and being reliable, but as far as functionality and comfort goes for a family with more than 2 kids, it’s horrid. If we are having this many leg room issues with just children sitting in the back, I can’t imagine what it would be like with teens or adults!

Chrysler minivans rule
Great cargo space and versatility for a reasonable price. Best vehicle I've ever owned. On the downside after a recent flat tire I discovered that this vehicle has no spare tire. I was forced to get towed. Attempts to buy a "donut spare" from a local Chrysler failed. I was told spare tires are no longer available. I tried Ebay but wound up with two tires that did not fit. Waisted $ 300. Bad move Chrysler!!

Change The Headlights!!!
This is a very sad review because I've done plenty of nighttime driving before never had an incident until last night. I've noticed when I got the van that the headlights were too dim, well what happened last night confirmed it as I was driving a small distance destination going the speed limit on a city highway and hit a woman predestrian going 35 to 40 mph! The street lights in this section of the highway were almost non existent and I didn't see this poor woman until I was right on top of her by then it was too late! I am 99% sure she died leaving behind a daughter and brother to take care of her now!!! This was in Orlando FL on Oak Ridge Rd. It seems like the headlights that are on this van are there for simple legal purposes because they serve no other purpose!!! Dodge!!! Please please please change those headlights!!!

Hardly Grand!
After a 5-day rental of a new 2018 Grand Caravan SXT, I simply cannot recommend this vehicle for rental or purchase. Even with the V-6, the vehicle is sluggish. In highway driving it is very unsettled, and tends to sway side-to-side. Most unsettling is the key/fob device that protrudes out so far when inserted into the ignition that it's easy to bump. Indeed, I lightly brushed it with my knee while motoring down the highway at 70 mph, and the van SHUT OFF. Seating is cramped, even for an average-sized driver (6', 190 lbs). And for a minivan, vision is surprisingly restricted. Outside of its ability to haul 7 people and decent gas mileage, it's simply an abysmal vehicle.

Slide doors not opening and hear a screatching
The car is making a noise on the left side the right side made that noise and then shut off and stopped opening. Then my breaks in the back when we’re on a long trip or going up and down the mountains going up north the breaks scream here and tremble. The car overall is good but, I don’t like the little problems the doors have. I think they should warranty these things and I can’t be the only one experiencing these issues.

Love/Hate Relationship
Bought my 2018 Grand Caravan from Enterprise Car Sales in February of 2020, right before Covid with about 33,000 miles on it. It was wonderful until September 2023 when the check engine light came on and we needed to replace the thermostat. The one middle bucket seat no longer will fold down and the one sliding door on the one side when you open it will open and then begin to shut itself which is dangerous and concerning with little kids. Come March 2024 immediately when the vehicle hit 100,000 miles, the transmission went which apparently is a given issue. We had it rebuilt at a transmission facility and paid about $4400. It still didn’t run right and I could tell something was still wrong with it. Apparently the transmission solenoids that were put in with the rebuilt transmission were bad. This isn’t at the fault of the vehicle nor the transmission facility, just a crappy situation. The transmission place picked up my vehicle, replaced them at no cost and dropped my vehicle back to me. It was running great again. A few months later I was driving on the highway and the entire instrument cluster went out. I just about had a heart attack and put another $1600 into it. At this point I am just waiting for something else to go wrong with it and it only has 108,300 miles on it which these days isn’t a lot at all to have so many big issues.

Transmission issues
Bought it used at 98000 miles 4.5 yrs ago. Transmission went out at 162000 miles. I really thought it would go well beyond 200000 miles, as I had no other problems with the vehicle. Disappointing

Thoroughly blessed
This van hasn't been updated for a long time. It's basic transportation. It's no Toyota.
