Used 1997 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab Consumer Reviews
Dakota keeps up with BIG BOYS
Great design and layout but with POOR MPG and a weak transmission. Have had no major problems just ball joints and new paint.
My Dodge
Looks great, even got a complement on it at a tire service center today. Brakes are weak link, and had to have serpentine belt idler replaced.

Good for the first five years
After my initial purchase and subsequent visits to the dealer for various quality control problems, the truck worked very well for three years. Shortly after this a series of problems has made me question my purchase of a Chrysler product. Three sets fo brakes in less than 75,000 miles, various electrical gremlins, suspension problems, and cracked exhaust studs have jaded my initial opinion of the vehicle. The recent condition of peeling paint has made me consider selling the vehicle and purchasing one of foriegn manufacture.
Very nice for the money
I've had this truck for four years and I have not had one major mechanical breakdown in all that time. I have the V6 w/ a 5-speed so it gets easily 24mpg on the hwy and 18 in town. It has enough power to tow my Harley and also enough payload to move heavy antique furniture on more that one occasion. It has a shell and a bed extender which make even better.
got to love dodge!
Me being a dodge fan I have always wanted a truck like this and now that I have I couldn't be happier. I love my truck, when i'm driving it I feel like i'm on top of the world. I couldn't possibly ask for more in a truck!
