Very Dependable Vehicle
We bought our 2000 Chevy Venture in 2004 with 40,000 miles on it. It has been a very dependable vehicle ever since we bought it. We would take it on all of our vacations out west and our trips to the east. To keep it running right I have to change the gas filter at least every two years. If it would start running rough on vacation I would stop at a Walmart buy a gas filter or use the one I brought and change the filter myself in the parking lot, and the rest of the trip it would run fine. We would only have to take it into the shop every several years for nothing major. The two biggest things to fix were the starter and the water pump, both were after 150,000 miles, we also had some alignment work done. We now have 193,000 on it and I would not be afraid to take it on vacation, but my wife wants us to take our newer vehicle. We keep it for our fishing and backup vehicle. I am very glad to have bought it.

Still Running
I have a 2000 LS and it's still running. Of course I had to make repairs as needed. I love this Van.
chevy
these vans are nothing but junk.more money into it than the money i bought it with.
Awesome
I owned a 2000 venture mini van with the 3.8 engine I put straight tail pipes on it sounded like a harley and was very fast I loved mine it sat in my friends garage for ten years
DO NOT BUY@!
We bought this van with 69,000 miles on it. We were only looking for a few years out of it and then we would buy something new. After several weeks of driving, we started hearing a high pitched squeal. My husband thought it was a belt so he put some belt dressing on it. Long story short.. our very trusted mechanic told us it needed $1800. worth of work. Intake manifold gasket, fuel pump, AC?? (don't remember the exact word) We put the money into it since we didn't have a warranty. Now, the transmission is slipping! Incredible!! Should have forked over more money to begin with and bought foreign. Oh, and I should also mention the back quarter panels are rusting faster than a speeding bullet!
Don't Buy One Unless You Are A Mechanic!
Worst vehicle my family ever owned, bought our van w/ 33,000 miles and never imagined we were buying a money pit! It has been a few years since we got rid of it, but I remember a tranny rebuild, intake manifold gasket failure, a bad compressor, ABS problems and others w/ brakes, power locks, wiper motors and blinkers going out constantly. Traded it for a Honda at 60k miles. Would love to give GM another chance. But this van failed my expectations. Bad bad memories of this van!
Sort of fun, sort of a lemon
We had sort of a rough start with our Venture. The CD player, VCR, and airpump all went out in the first month. In the 7 years we have had it, we've put in a new master cylinder, new front tie ends on both wheels, something new in the transmission, and now the computer chip in one of the new tie ends has gone and so the abs system and traction control don't work. I would definitly get an extended warranty with this car. Other than that it has been really great for family trips. Very comfortable to ride in and good amenities
