utility & fun to drive
We put our Trailblazer to work the day after purchase and have been delighted with it. Several trips to Canada & TN; very comfortable and great utility hauling college son to/from school.
Power
I love every second i spend on it. I'm an off roader and i love the way it feels. I forget there is not concrete below me. It is smooooooothe. Power... jaja Power that's something you cannot feel until you take it on the highway. you have to feel the pool this SUV has once it goes over 3000 RPM IT PULLS.

Excellent so far!
Though I have only had this car for less than a week, I have only found one thing I dont like. The recirculate button on the AC is not the default when you turn the car on. I had a honda and it was always the default.
Awesome!!
My first SUV....what can I say, I love it!!
bad to the bone
Held off for a long time on buying the "mainstream vehicle", but this one converted me. It really stands out from other styles of SUV's. It is black and has running boards, fog lights, a lot of standard features also. The BOSE speakers were worth the extra $. It handles great, has a solid feel and definitely don't miss the 4X4. Traction assist is more than I need. Love the 7 passenger seating. The extra length gives the vehicle a nice stance, especially with the 17" wheels and rugged but not ridiculous tires. Oh yeah, the power rear vents, the Homelink, and the recorder over the console are fun gadgets.
Better Than Expected
The Trailblazer gets ripped by the "experts" more than it should. I asked several people who own Trailblazers how it's gone for them and nobody had a bad thing to say about it. I bought a 2003 LS w/4wd and put about a 1,000 miles on it in a couple weeks. The ride is great, the engine is powerful, and even my wife who previously hated driving SUVs loves it. It handles well and early indications are positive.
We tried them all!
We drove almost every suv with a third row and this surpassed them all! Its the only one with enough room for adults in the third row that was not like driving a bus. It drives like a car, instead of a huge feeling bus! I love the ease of entry in to the third row, you can do it all one handed, which is important since I have 4 children!
i love this truck
has plenty of power
nini's trailblazer
Excellent, reliable, sturdy rig with a smooth, almost luxury car feel.
Lovin the ride
I have only had this vehicle for about a month, So far I love it. It has been into the shop once for hard shifting, a squeeking noise from the motor, and my molding on the passanger window was going down with the window. I went from a Grand Am GT to the LTZ and I am very excited to use the 4wd this winter.
Trailblazer
No extensions on sun visor nor adjustment to second row seats!! it stands straight up!!
OK With Me
Nice looking vehicle - the interior trim could/should be better. I enjoy the sound system and the kids enjoy the DVD system. I have two teenage sons - both over 6'2" - and the have planty of room in the back seat. As they say, the devil is in the details: electric mirrors malfunctioned - brake lights went out - and rear wiper has already been replaced. Still fighting relatively bad gas mileage. Have owned several different SUV's, vans, etc. (including Mercedes M class) and don't believe this vehicle provides quite the value a nearly $40,000 vehicle should.
Trailblazer LS
Love everthing about it!!
Trailblazer
This is the best handling and riding SUV that I have owned or driven. This past May, my wife and I drove from Denver to Seattle, then down the west coast to Los Angeles and back to Denver. There was not a day that either of us were stiff or uncomfortable from the ride.
Great Vehicle
Use the suv every day, off road around rivers on weekends. The six has more than enough power. Runs well on long distance highway as well.
Unsatisfied Customer
The relationship with my 2003 Trailblazer is one of love/hate. Fun to drive, when it works. Lots of cargo space and roomy for 7 people. Driver's seat is like a cockpit with tons of buttons and controls. BUT... the engine and electronics has been unreliable. The 4x4 switch has failed 4 times in 15 months, requiring in- shop servicing for more than 15 days. While on vacation, the windshield wipers failed during a major rain storm (stuck in on position) and we had to pay for a rental car. Tail pipe is already rusting and we have a squeek (that can't be found) in the front end. Although I love to drive the car... it will have to go!
Trailblazer LS 4WD is quite bland
We've had ours for nearly 2 years now. We have put 17K miles on it and haven't had any mechanical issues as of yet. I did not know about the "marinal" crash offset score when we bought it. However, the side impact (front and rear) ratings are excellent. Folks are saying they are getting 14-16MPG with this SUV...we average right at 20MPG (cautious driving technique). The vehicle doesn't handle very well on curvy roads. The steering response is very lack luster. The transmission doesn't seem to know what gear it wants. The interior looks as cheap as they come. The stereo is decent for a base factory model. Rear comfort is like a 2 door sports coupe.
Awesome
From the time I set foot in this truck I was in heaven. It rides better than the Jeep Grand Cherokee I had previous and it is a lot easier to drive. I do not feel 'top heavy' in this vehicle and it is very well priced for what you get.
Lucky Me!!!
We bought our Trailblazer ext after owning a GMC minivan for 6 years. We have 4 very active daughters so we were needing plenty of room. I didn't really want that "soccer mom" look anymore. I fell in love with this sporty looking SUV!! It handles beautifully! I usually put an average of 30,000 miles on a vehicle annually. So far in 10,000 miles it has lived up to its reputation! We highly recommend it to everyone.
GREAT RIDE-MANY PROBLEMS
I HAVE (HAD) THE EXT MODEL AND AS FAR AS A RIDE IT RODE AS WELL AS MY LEXUS. BUT, THAT IS WHERE THE COMPARISON ENDED. MULTIPLE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE AND POWER TRAIN WERE OVERWHELMING.... THAT IS WHY I NO LONGER OWN THE CAR. DEALER WAS EXCEPTIONAL IN HANDLING MY COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IN FAIRNESS, I DON'T KNOW OF ANYONE WHO HAS BOUGHT THE REGULAR LENGTH MODEL THAT HAS HAD ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS EXCEPT FOR THE EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE ABOVE 40 MILES AN HOUR.
Good Buy
When I first thought of truck to buy this was my first choice. I still was careful and test drove all of the other SUV in the same class. The trailblazer was built better and looked better. A great buy for a mom with children. Don't forget to get the DVD and the third row seat. I will be going back this year to get a new trailblazer with all the extras. Thanks GM!
Excellent around town car.
Very comfortable around town car in all weather situations. Very good small family car.
Ex-EXPLORER owner now has Trail Blazer
Vehicle drives very smoothly. There definitely is a blind spot when backing up and looking back to your left...very difficult to see out...must use mirrors for backing. Back seating is comfortable.
Thank God I Leased it
I have had nothing but minor problems but all those minor problems add up. There is a bumping noise in the front end nobody can seem to fix and in two weeks after we got it the muffler system was replaced . there is a problem with the tail lights going out all the time and the wind noise is slightly annoying. The DVD player is in the center of your rear view mirror so you see nothing when it is down. A lot of little annoying thing s not worth the 30 plus thousand dollars and glad that i can get rid of it at the end of my lease.
Blue Trailblazer
I have taken three trip with it this summer and can hardly wait for next summer so I can go again. Its absolutly the best on the Interstate a real joy to drive and ride in.
Great truck based SUV
This is a great all around SUV for those who need a heavy duty truck based SUV. The 4.2L engine tows heavy loads with ease. The ride is comfortable and the handling is better than a full size SUV such as a Tahoe. The mpg is only slightly better than a full size SUV. We average about 15mpg in mixed driving conditions. This is a very good vehicle with the 4WD if you live in an area that has a snowy winter. The build quality on GM products has been improving. Our Trailblazer has had a couple recalls and now it needs new brake rotors after only 11,000 miles, I hope this is not be a problem to get it repaired under warranty.
Delivers
The Trailblazer delivers room, comfort, reasonable gas milage and a high level of technical development. However, it could use an independent rear suspension. Truck-like in turns. Otherwise, as smooth as cream.
2003 Chevy Trailblazer
I like my Chevy Trailblazer for many different reasons, like everything is user friendly, within the drivers reach, you don't have to stretch to reach anything. There is a lot of leg room in the front and the back. The hatchback part,I think is great do to the fact the back window raises for access, or you can pull a handle and the whole door raises, which allows for many different uses. The only bad thing I can say about it is the engine compartment, for most average shade tree machanics like me you can pop the hood and see were everything is, not on this one,I still haven't found the spark plugs, everything else is easy to find.
Good so Far
Taking a gamble with an American made SUV following 3 year stints with Pathfinder and Lexus LX450. Needed the 3rd seat (3 kids), and the Trailblazer/Envoy had the best (by far) 3rd seat with room behind it for storage. Love the ride - much less "trucky" than the Lexus. Bose system is fantastic. Lateral seat support could be improved. Separate 2nd seat tuner is favorite of oldest child. With 2 child seats in second row - not much extra room for third person. A little too much plastic on dashboard.
Great truck
Since buying my new Trailblazer in August of 2003, I have nothing but pride in my new truck. It has been such a wonderful truck to drive in. Just wish they came out with these truck 5 years ago.
Very safe vehicle to drive
I have had no problems with the car. I did, however, get in a pretty serious accident with it and walked away without a scratch. I would highly recommend this vehicle to people concerned about safety.
GREAT TRUCK
VERY COMFORTABLE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. SO FAR I AM AVERAGING OVER 23 MILES TO THE GALLON HWY. CHILD SEATS GO IN VERY EASILY IN THE BACK SEAT AND FIT SECURELY. IT LOOKS GREAT TOO.
A HAPPY FAMILY!
WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS VEHICLE! WE NEEDED LOTS OF ROOM FOR OUR FAMILY OF FIVE AND THIS HAS IT! WE CAN SEE OURSELVES BEING REPEAT TRAILBLAZER OWNERS. LOTS OF COMFORT AND FUN TO DRIVE!
Blazin new trails in my Trailblazer
I wanted a bigger vehicle to use for hauling all my stuff and people. The third row seat can actually handle two full size adults, unlike my uncles lame Durango. The in-line six engine is smooth and powerful. I successfully pulled a car trailer with a Camaro on it from Kentucky with no problems. It was like the trailer wasn't even behind my truck. You will soon find my uncle's Durango on a Chevy dealers used car lot!
The Ulimate SUV
I have a 2003 Trailblazer LS All I can Say is WOW .. This is by far the best SUV I have ever driven. Traded a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (JEEP was in the shop every other week Up til the end) Differential problems, Transmission probelms and rotors every 10,000 miles or so -- That is unheard of, well so I thought.. Anyway, drove every mid size SUV before deciding on the Trailblazer. Purchased it because it had the best ride and all the features I wanted and the price was right.. I do not have the wind noise a lot talk about -- As to gas mileage City is around 16 HWY 22 I live in the mountains not the flat lands This is an SUV not a Civic.. I LOVE It Drive one and see for yourself ......
Rides like a dream
This is the 1st vehicle I have ever owned that has everything I wanted in a automobile. It has such a smooth ride and great interior room and comfort. The power is incredible for a 6 cylinder. Acceleration onto highways is more than enough. As for the "reviews" about poor handling in the corners, SLOW DOWN, your not at INDY!
'03 Trailblazer
So far an excellent SUV choice. Plenty of power and responsiveness with a very good ride. Gas mileage could be better, then again it's an SUV. No problems other than cheap radio preset dials, the black peels off over time, but is covered under warranty. We ordered our loaded (leather, 6 CD, sunroof, etc.) and it certainly feels like a luxury SUV, but without the debt.
Poor Mileage
Chipwich is right. I have been experiencing substantially lower mileage than advertised. I was blown off by both my dealership and Chevrolet customer service when I sought to rectify. This apparently is not a big concern to them because it is a consumer issue as opposed to a regulatory one. Very unfortunate! If you are looking for reasonable mileage, look elsewhere. Other than that ride is smooth, but interior is cheap and unsubstantial. Steering wheel blocks view of speedometer in any position and seat doesn't go back far enough to support my 6 ft frame.
My TrailBlazer - AWESOME
I've had my Chevy TrailBlazer for almost two years now and I do some really heavy driving. Not only has my TrailBlazer been outstanding in the 52,000 miles it has taken me it gives me a sense of security while I'm on the road. My TrailBlazer is not equipped with OnStar but its powerful presence and large stance makes me feel empowered on the road.
Excellen work of Art
This is just an amazing that really topples the competitor. Size, Comfort and Reliability is out of Question. On its third year, you look everywhere and you will see Trailblazers. First year could be a hiccup but over the years, they just keep on improving. I am puzzled why other owners have issues and problems with it. Maybe they just don't know how to take care of this lovely machine . Keep in mind that they are machines, and their performance depend on how the owners run it. As they say, show me your car and I will tell you what you are ..
great suv/great price compared to others
very pleased with car compared to previous Blazer s-10, got rid of it in 2.5 years. problem with keyless locks was repaired quickly by dealer replacing rear hatch lock control module. no other problems experienced. love this car. usually keep cars 10+ years and see no reason this should not be a keeper.
AWESOME RIDE
the chevy trailblazer 4wd/awd LS is a dream for any consumer. i have found a flawless performance all around. Great onroad and offroad with style and comfort included :)
Trailblazer LS is a great vehicle
The car is far superior to other competitive models in this class which we tried. It's 6 cyl engine is superior to most others 8 cyl. in power, performance & economy. The car is comfortable, great suspension, nice appearance, easy entry, road worthy, etc. My son drives a new Explorer and prefers our Trailblazer.
trailblazer ext
good on road can carry passengers and cargo with ease 3.73 ratio a must in ext for road preformance does cut milage to about 17.2
Why did I trade my SUV?
I bought the Trailblazer because it is a great looking SUV. However, I have had several electrical problems. The rear brake lights went our 6 times. The dealer changed the module 3 times before they were fixed. The "Check Engine" light came has come on 3 times. The driver's side mirror never returns to the proper position. The driver's heated seat module had to be replaced. The rear window washer hose has developed a kink in it. The rear seats are very uncomfortable and the driver's seat lacks support. The vehicle has deprieciated much faster than I thought was possible. My three previous SUVs were only in the shop for warranty work once, to repair a fog light that had burned out.
watch your front bumpers!
I love my 2003 Trailblazer, but I just discovered that my front bumper, just below my grill, is buckled..not bad enough for someone who isn't looking for it to see, but I noticed. I had heard that some dealerships had some come back for this problem, mainly due to the heat, so I checked mine and sure enough it was there. I took it to the dealership today and there is nothing that can be done. I was told that it probably would not get worse. I called Chevrolet customer service just to voice my concern. Just for your info!
THE 2003 ARE BETTER THAN THEN 2002
I LIVE IN UPPER NORTHERN WISCONSIN, AND I HAVE DRIVEN A LOT OF SUV'S AND TRUCKS IN MY TIME. I'VE OWN GMC, CHEVY'S & FORDS. I LOVE MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER. I KNOW THEY HAD ALOT OF PROBELMS WITH THE 2002, BUT MY 2003, I HAVED NO TROUBLE WITH IT EXCEPT FOR A RATTLE THAT I HAD FIXED. THE 2003 HANDLE GREAT. I LOVE DRIVING IN THE SNOW WITH MY TRAILBLAZER. THE ONLY PROBELM I GOT WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THAT THE RESALE VALUE IS CRAP. BUT YOU GET THAT WHEN YOU BUY AMERICAN. MY RECOMMENDATION FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO BUY A SUV. BUY THE 2003 TRAILBLAZER, NOT THE 2002
Traulblazer
No problems as of yet. Great performance and ride is great. Always had a Dodge before but Durango way too expensive and a gas hog. Comfort is important to me ( 6'4" 300lbs) and this sure beats the Explorer that I tried. Gas mileage is very reasonable and I love the power. LOve the standard towing package that comes already with the vehicle. Interior finish is a little tacky but I can live with it. Love the style.
SUV with an edge
After one year with my Trailblazer. I still look outside and admire its styling. When this SUV came out in 2002. It looked like a vehicle that was capable off road as well as a sporty cruiser around town. My family of 4 fits well in the Blazer. But, for me its a family vehicle that looks youthful and sport. Outside styling Great Inside Styling Functional
I'm glad I gave it a chance!
I always wanted the smaller model SUV Blazer but when the Trailblazer came out, it was more of the size I wanted. I knew what the gas mileage was, but wanted a 4x4 and not a front wheel drive car, we already had a 4x4 Chevy truck, so wanted something other than a car. Excellent Choice, would do it again.
