Ok when not in shop
Overall I've had a pretty decent experience with my trailblazer other than when it has been in the shop to fix recall problems. Other than the recall things, I haven't had any trouble with it. It has a very nice and comfortable design for travel or family. It has a lot of room in it. I use it to pack up our group's sound equipment which there is a lot of and I can tote all of that in the back plus the 5 of us in the front comfortably.
Good Buy
I have had it for a half of a year and have been very happy with it.

Trailblazer is very good choice
Handles very well.Plenty of power, especially to pass or merge in heavy traffic. Quiet smooth ride that is very enjoyable. Altogether fun to drive.
Mio's Review
This car is very nice. The only thing i don't like about it is it is very high so when i wash it i have to get my stool, but other wise i love it.
Some pros and cons
Gas mileage poor, 16-18 hwy. Expected better from I-6. Wind noise excessive. Engine power good if you get it spinning, poor on low end. Geared too high in overdrive; engine turning below power band, even at 70-75 MPH; poor response, frequent downshifts on slight grade. I mostly drive in "3" below 75, much better response. Might get 4.10 axle next time. On plus side, exterior styling nice, if somewhat plain in LS trim. Interior OK, comfortable, but again pretty plain in LS. Reliability 100% so far (7500 mi). Nice ride, perfect size. Standard stereo, A/C, etc all fine. Despite faults, very good value after rebates.
Love it so far!
Bought my Trial Blazer a month ago, and I am totally happy with it. It's quiet, the ride is great and the power is outstanding. Have onstar, and it's totally cool. Test drove several other SUV's and found this to be the most confortable and attractive.
2002 Trailblazer problems
We received the vehicle and the bolts came off a electrical module connected to the engine. There were several rattles not yet fixed or found. The steering wheel was crooked and the dealership tried to say it was because all roads slanted to the right. There is a loud rattle in the engine when the vehicle is switching out of 1st gear.
S2S
Its Simply Amazing. It is the greatest SUV Ive Ever seen
Tough, Fun & Practical
I have found my Trailblazer LTZ to be tough, yet fun and practical. It replaces the boring old station wagons and mini vans with something able to do much more. It is quick and stable. It tows well, hauls well and the 4WD adds a measure of exploration and safety not available in those vehicles AND with reasonable fuel economy (especially vs the big station wagons) and great luxury as well.
Feels big.... Is big... Not really Fun
Roomy, powerful and a great value. However... Backing up is a complete mystery, amatuers need not apply! Once moving forward, drive is quite smooth and full of power - for a V6. Owned over 1 1/2 years and virtually no problems other than the dealership hosing me at time of purchase...but what's new!
Solid performer
This is the wife's daily driver. It was a good combination of size, space and cost. Overall very reliable, the only issues we've had were known to GM : A/C sensor causing A/C to not function intermittently and reverse lamp not lighting intermittently. Both issues were addressed free of charge within warranty. In order to utilize fold-down seats, front seats must be pulled forward. This is a problem for me (6'1" tall), and basically makes that feature useless on long trips.
Excellent
Ride is smooth, the power is great, sound system is really good. The comfort level of the leather interior is excellent. Itt's very roomy inside and all the buttons are in the right place. It's a blast to go from 55 to 90 with a stomp on the pedal on the highway. What a difference from the old blazer which couldn't get out of it's own way.
Trading it in after 4 months
Owned vehicle for 4 months. Air conditioning has gone out three times and the dealer tells me that it is very very common. In fact, he told me that it may go out again. Squeeky back window and horrible suspension. The seats are confortable if you are under 6 feet tall. Gas mileage is good for the engine size. If you dont mind not having air conditioning its a great vehicle, just make sure to visit it once or twice in the shop. We have a 2001 Chevy 3500 and a 2002 Corvette with no problems. Chevy just hasnt gotten the Trailblazer down, time for us to look to Jeep for help with an SUV
First two weeks with a 2003
So far I have been very pleased with my new 2003 LTZ 4wd. I have always been a Chevy fan and found that the TB was an excellet choice for mid size SUV. The only real thing that Chevy could have done better on is the front seats, too much slip side to side. I have leather and you have to hold yourself in place on sharp turns. Very happy with performance and handling. Great ride and easy to drive for around town use.
New VDP-Rate This Vehicle
I love my new Trailblazer the way it handles, such as the tightness of the steering. But the thing about my truck is that it uses the gas, I don't mind to much because I like the vehicle so well. The inside is excellent. The CD player stereo is rocking, and I'm not one of those "If it's to loud your to old. Lynard Skynard sounds like they are in the truck with me. I just love MY truck......
Best SUV I ever driven
This is the one SUV I found that drives smooth like a large car. It's very roomy and We traded in our 2002LS for a 2003EXT only cause we needed a little more room for our children and travel. Chevy did a great job with this vehicle.
Great SUV
I have owned an Explorer and Expedition and feel that the Traiblazer EXT is one of the most comfortable and flexible SUV's on the market. The engine is ultra quiet and performs smoothly.
It's a bonafide LEMON
Brakes squeeked from the beging but dealer couldn't find the problem despite 7 trips in for repair. Transmission went out at 6,000 miles. Drivers area is cramped. GM repurchased and we bought a Tahoe, which is a 10 times better car!
Think again
My wife and I have had this car for 1 year and we are already thinking about getting rid of it. We feel that the reliability is extremely poor. Here is a list of problems: Automatic drivers side mirror replaced 5x because the motor could not return to our preset driving positions, the rear windshield wiper never touched the rear window, the rear windshield leaked, there is a noise in the dashboard when you go over bumps in the road, the stereo shorts out and has been replaced 2x, fuses had to be replaced, replaced headlight. I cant imagine what this car will be like in 2- 4 years. We are now looking at the Pathfinder or Honda Pilot
Satisfied Trailblazer owner
I special ordered the car and it arrived with the exact equipment ordered with not a scratch or blemish. I got the 3.42 rear end and the milage has been +-18.0 from the start with 1,500 miles of suburban driving. Just a great car to drive.
Unsatisfied
Air conditioner wont work after only 2500 miles. Not enough leg room in rear seats. Recommend buying the RAV4 instead; better build quality. Only gets 15 mpg. Rear cupholders let drinks spill out all over new car with the slightest bump or turn.
Excellent Vehicle
My 2003 Trailblazer has treated me very well. Nearing 20,000 in just over a year I have had some warranty related problems - no more then 3 - with SOME hastle at the dealer. Ride is smooth and comfortable. Handling is also excellent, and I have yet to get stuck in any road hazard. Highly suggested for any mid-sized SUV customer. You will not be disappointed.
The bad outweighs the good
This would have been the perfect SUV for me if not for the mysterious electrical problems they cannot fix. It started to break down less than 3 mos old, and has been in the shop 7 times in 11 months. Problems have involved 4WD transfer control module, A/C, Ignition switch, Rear springs (to fix a frequency rumble/vibration at 55mph), passenger door not closing properly, Radio presets mysteriously disappearing, poor gas mileage, rough transmission shifting; computer updates needed; safety recalls. If you want a sunroof you are forced to purchase OnStar for $900 with $14.95 monthly fee.
Trailblazer Problems
We bought our Trailblazer new, after hearing great things about it, and how it did not have the problems the Blazer was known for (electrical problems,etc.). We are pleased with the handling, performance and comfort, but very dissapointed with the electrical problems we are already having. The wire harness running under the rear seats has worn through. The airconditioner works erratically. Anyone that owns one can tell you of the multilple recall notices regarding brake problems as well as a permanent recall on the rear taillights (burn out continuosly). Our Trailblazer is up for sale... I think I am going back to Nissan or Toyota.
Finally
After years of "putting up" with second class foreign SUV's (the Rodeo for example) due to cost constraints, I have finally found a vehicle I can both afford and have fun driving. The TrailBlazer is comfortable, fun and (believe it or not) reliable. I have had it for ten months and have been back to the dealer for normal maintenance only. I have had NO warranty problems or even minor mechanical problems. It is fun to drive. My only negative is that I wish it could get a little more than 15 MPG; but I suppose that's the price you pay for driving a SUV.
Love it!
I have only had this vehicle a little over a month and am loving it. I traded in a 1997 S-10 Blazer that I had for over 6 years so this feels like a luxury car.
LuvMyLT
I have had this vehicle for a little less than a year now, and have taken it on several trips from Georgia to Maine. What an awesome truck! Ride is smooth, horsepower rocks, and gas mileage (highway) is great. I have had two problems: A/C pressure switch died after a month (quickly repaired; no further problems), and DS window motor quit (also fixed expeditiously). Only thing I wish I had is the auto-adjusting drivers seat. With a teenager learning to drive, it's a pain to readjust the power seats. Loved my '97 Silverado, and foresee a long, enjoyable relationship with this one as well!
Performance
No problems with the motor, was made by Izusu for Chevrolet, towed boats and trailers without any problems. However have experienced numerous mechanical, structural and rear lights problems, all cover by warranty (bought extended to 6 years or 60,000 miles), the dealer had to supply rental cars while it was in repairs.
Love It
I have never owned a chevy and now I will definitely buy another one.The ride is awsome! It rides like a Cadillac. The room in it is perfect and the seat are so comfortable. I love the duel lumbar support in the seats. The gas milage is great and it has so much power. I will buy an extended LTZ next year.
Inline 6
I like everything about this truck EXCEPT the poor fuel mileage. I get about 16 mpg average. This is running about 1/2 city streets and 1/2 freeway. On long trips, the mileage increases to 18.5 mpg. So city driving mileage is really poor. The inline 6 power band really comes on (and is felt) at 4000 rpm! It cruises down the freeway (at 70 mph) at 2200 rpm!! The power is only usefull when REALLY getting on it. So normal driving is out of the power band. Less horse=bad economy. I think that if I was buying another, I would get the V-8. The mileage would be better and there would be more low end horse power.
My Trailblazer
After driving my father's TB for almost a year I new I needed to buy one of my own. It runs great, looks great, it's not too bad with fuel. I love it. Have not had any problems with it at all!
Jacks Trailblazer
I have owned (3)regular style blazer and have found my new trailblazer an exceptional vehicle. Ride, Style, and features. My hats of to Dean Patterson Chevrolet for being, what I believe is one of the best, if not the best dealership I have delath with in my 62 years. Kudos to GM for the new trailblazer
Great Vehicle
This is my first SUV and first Chevy. Very happy with the vehicle. The power is amazing, and the comfort and responsiveness are great. Fuel economy could be better, but had an idea about that before I bought it. I average about 13-14 MPG, nowhere near sticker. Overall very pleased with this, and would buy another one, or recommend this.
So many problems
My Trailblazer is probably the best driving car/truck I ever owned, but what a lemon. It has been back to the dealer six times. A/C went bad. Anti Lock braking went bad, Has a new gas tank because they couldn't get the check engine light. Recall on the rear lamps. Returned again for check engine light, this time they replaced a "computer chip". Just had the fan clutch replaced at a price of $590. It currently has 46,000 miles on it.
TRAILBLAZER 2002
I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. WAS SO HAPPY WHEN BOUGHT IT, BUT VERY SOON BECAME VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH ALL PROBLEMS - EVERY TIME SOMETHING NEW. HOPEFULLY,ONLY THIS PARTICULAR CAR IS BAD.
Great SUV
I currently have 71,000 miles on my 2003 Trailblazer and it has performed extremely well. It is still all original, including brakes. Tires were replaced at 60,000 miles. Performance is excellent and mileage of ~17.5mpg is acceptable. I will buy another one when I get about 120,000 miles on this one
cabin noise
overall good vehicle. Major Problem is interior cabin noise. Returned to dealer to have them checkout advised normal truck noise(laughed and walked out) Sounds like window is cracked open slightly, spoke to other people about it who also own one they advised that t hey didn't notice. The next day they came in and know they hate me because they hear it everyday. That is the reason I rated it low in both "build quality" and "interior design" didn't know exactly where it fit.
The One To Buy!
The TrailBlazer is far superior than all other SUVs in the Midsize class!
One major problem
I have a 2003 Trailblazer I bought in march of 2003. I have really enjoyed this SUV. It drives great and has good power. I have had one major problem. My transmission has had issues. The dealer said it was cracked from the cheverolet plant. That was "fixed". Six weeks later, the transmission was slipping, and the dealer found out the transmission pump was cracked, which allowed the radiator and transmission coolant to mix. The dealer did replace the transmission at that point. The clutch fan was also replaced, because it made a ticking noise. I hope my problems are fixed. So far so good.
POWER HOUSE
EXCEPT FOR THE MEMORY MIRROR PROBLEM THE CAR HAS BEEN FLAWLESS SO FAR.WE NOW HAVE 14,500 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS BEEN GREAT.WE RECENLTY PURCHASED A 20 FT TRAVEL TRAILER AT 4200 LBS LOADED AND IT DOES QUITE WELL CONSIDERING IT ONLY HAS 275 FT LBS OF TORQUE.MILES PER GALLON PULLING IS ABOUT 10.5-11.7.EMPTY,EXCELLENT MILEAGE CONSIDERING IT WAYS 4700 LBS.WE ARE GETTING 16.5 CITY AND 21.8 HIGHWAY.
Bill's review
I enjoy the truck quality's and at the same time I feel comfortable like I was driving a great riding mid to large size car. It's a treat to own and drive.
Trail Blazer! Great car to drive!
I've only had it a short time, but my 2003 Trail Blazer is really fun to drive. It's my first SUV; now I know why they're so popular. My wife really likes it and I got the thumbs up from all my kids (in and out of college). The folks at Metro Chevrolet did an outstanding job of customer follow-up.
'03 Trail Blazer, so good so far
Purchased '03 TrailBlazer from Chev. dealer with 5M miles on it. Engine is quiet, very smooth, gas mileage is OK at 22-23 Hwy, 14-16 in town. A little stiff ride around town, but what I would expect from a truck frame. Very smooth ride on the highway. Poor handling in curves. Interior is a could certainly be improved. Don't know why GM persists in cheap, hard plastic interiors. Some wind noise at highways speeds. I bought it because it was priced well and even with it's good/bad features, it represents a decent value in the field of SUV's.
UTE - AKA - Hover Craft?
Awesome power from an Inline Six and a very comfortable ride. When hammering down in the corners the suspension is a bit soft but not Bad overall. I give it an overall 9.0 with no regrets. Extemely smooth ride on the Highway and in Town.
13000 miles of bliss
Engine is unbelievably smooth. Power seems endless throughout the RPM range. Rides smooth as silk. Wish we would have opted for the DVD player, too bad you cannot get DVD AND sunroof. I am 6'3", my wife is nearly 6'. Neither of us have trouble getting comfortable in any of the seats (including 3rd row). Overall this is the most pleasant and comfortable vehicle we have owned.
TrailBlazer 2003
This is a excellent vehicle
chevy oh yes
i took delivery of of the tblazer on the 14th. and you know what there is no substitute for the tblazer besides the 4 runner. but all the rest yall can forget it the tblazer is the best midsize suv out by far. i love as it will be my auto for the next 6to 8 yrs.
enough pep for the pepsi man...
I have had this vehicle for almost 3 weeks now, and i have already put almost 2000 miles on it. This car will give you a run, on the interstate you have to watch your speed, because i have caught myself doing 95 easily and not even noticing it becuase of the smooth ride. This is a great car and i love it to death. I have only had one problem with it so far and that is with a squeaky fan belt, which can be easily fixed. The leather seats make it very comfortable. All together i am very satisfied with my vehicle, except for the fuel milege, i am lucky if i get 14 mpg.
trailblazer
I've owned this suv for 1 yr so far and am satisfied. Has all options and nothing has failed or needed adjustment yet, although it only has 10000 miles on it. It's my third SUV.
Trail
