Used 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4dr SUV 4WD Consumer Reviews
Road trip!
The Tahoe has been reliable in every sense. It's great on the highway, and will go anywhere you point it.
Not a bad Big Truck
I am nearing the end of the lease on my 1999 Tahoe. Overall, it has been a very good experience. My payments were quite reasonable due to the high residual value. I did not have any big problems until 4.5 years into the lease. I had to spend $600 to repair a problem with the steering component and with my front hub assembly. Since these were safety items, I had to fork over the dough! My transfer case is leaking, and I may need new brakes, but I refuse to fix all of that with less than 4 months remaining. I think it is a good buy for the amount of vehicle you get.

Love My Tahoe
My parents bought this car for me at christmas time. It has 90 thousand miles on it and still runs great. I am 16 years old and love being able to drive it when ever I want. The only problem that I have had with it is the transfer case began to leak so I had to get it sealed. The gas milage is not great, but once you get used to filling up every few days, its ok.

Great family and garbage hauler!
Four years ago I bought a '99 Tahoe LT for $2700, with 350,000 on it, most of it highway miles. Now has 370,000 on it. The gas mileage sucks but man, is it comfortable! I'm a large guy with long legs, and I fit comfortable in both the front and the back (except the middle seat in the rear). My wife can even sit in the middle rear seat between the kids in their car seats to hang out with them. We've used the back as a bed while camping. Got one of those tents that goes around the back of your SUV to turn it into livable space... Absolutely amazing how much you can pack into the truck, and you can always get a cargo box for the top rack or one of those hitch-mounted cargo carriers, or tow something behind you. More than enough power from the 350 even with all the mileage. Has required very little in maintenance. Great road trip vehicle for a family of 4, great vehicle to take the kids to daycare/school, or grocery shopping... garbage dump runs... 4WD goes great in the snow with some decent tires, does nice donuts in the mud and snow (LOL) Full sized spare underneath with all the equipment to change it! It even handles better than you'd expect for such a massive, heavy vehicle once you get used to driving it. The braking sucks. Even with fresh components it's hard to stop so you have to leave plenty of distance. That's probably my one complaint. Totally sub-par.
