Nice truck with serious latent defects

This is one gorgeous truck with numerous well though-out factory installed options. The overall fit and finish are good, not great as I had to take mine back for adjustments to the hood and one door. The trailer hitch is NOT well thought out. It sticks out one inch past the bumper making it much harder to park the truck in a standard garage. Fuel economy has been just ok so far with 2250 miles and very careful driving I have been able to squeeze out 17.5 MPG with 70% highway miles. It really should do better than that. The interior is excellent. At $50,000+ this truck should come with a seat memory system. I don't like needing to re-adjust the seat every time I get it back from the dealer. And that leads me to what I believe are some serious latent defects in this truck. So far, I have experienced five (5) check engine lights for the exact same problem. Thankfully the OnStar diagnostics system captures each failure, provides a date and time stamp, and sends you an email with the details. Do yourself a favor and keep every one you receive. You will need them if you decide to take legal action. My truck has constant problems related to 1, the lithium-ion battery (part of the auto start/stop system), and 2, the engine / transmission system (again related to the auto start/stop). So far despite the dealer and GM factory's best technicians working the problem and driving the daylights out of my truck in the process, they have not been able to identify and properly solve the underlying problem.

Check engine light on 2 times in the first 3 months. The brake light on first 6 months. Rear window leaked and had to be replaced. Idler pulley bad at 25k miles. Transmission shudder started at 20k miles and now hard shifting at 28k miles. Been to shop twice and GM says it's normal. JUNK

Great Looking truck outside, (inside not so much)!

My 2020 Trail Boss, 10/19/2020

I was drawn to the 2020 Silverado Trail Boss for it's looks. Outside they got it right. The inside, for a truck with a MSRP of @46K is very sad. My 2010 Tundra base model that I traded had more standard cab features than my new SIlverado. My top complaints, storage in center console, cheap plastic looks, no garage door opener, lacks interior storage, no rear inner fender liners, no steering wheel controls. In my opinion, if they added all of the options above and just charged a few hundred dollars it would make a much better truck. I almost bought the Ram just because it seems like more bang for the buck. I hope I made the right purchase, but only time will tell!!

The check engine light will start flashing for approx 15 seconds the quit for 2 minutes and start again. Not over heating oil pressure is dropping and dealerships says them or GM engineers has no clue what’s wrong with it. Just be careful of it.

2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 CUSTOM TRAIL BOSS

Zachary, 12/11/2020

If I could give this a "no star review", I would. I purchased a Custom Trail Boss in September 2020. For the first three months I was very pleased until Tuesday 12/8/20. I was taking my son to Lacrosse workouts and right when we got there my pickup was acting violently and long story short was stranded on the side of the road in 30 degree temps. I eventually had my trucked towed to the local dealership. It took the dealership 2 days to figure out what was going on. Apparently a valve spring came loose which caused a piece to get sucked into the cylinder and destroy the engine. The dealership contacted GM. GM advised the dealership to put a completely new motor in the truck. This was as of yesterday. Do I think GM is making this right? Absolutely not. They should give me a new truck. My pickup only had 900 miles when the engine decided to "blow up". This is my first Chevy and will never purchase/lease another one. If you are reading this message and you are considering buying a new Chevy pickup I would say don't do it.
