I purchased a 2019 Silverado in July 2019 and it has developed a strange lurching motion while coming to a stop kind of feels like hitting a small pothole after doing some research GM has been aware of this and other issues with the 8 speed transmission for about 4 years now. I’m taking it back to the dealer to see if they can fix it I still like the truck but this issue is really disappointing and is starting to ruin my new truck buying experience so do your research before buying any GM vehicle with this transmission I have a LT double cab with the 5.3 V8 Updated on 1/29/2020, 6700 miles, the problems with the transmission have mostly gone away. I would say 95% of the time I drive the truck it shifts fine, and any rough shifts are more smoother now. I like everything else about the truck..the new design, the performance, the comfort and new tech features are great. It seems like anything you buy nowadays has some technical issues or doesn’t last as long as the old versions use to. Bottom line I would recommend the Silverado but if you’re looking to buy a new one, you might want to wait for the 2021 models as they’ll have the new GM 10 speed transmissions which are supposed new be better/newer than the 8 speed. I hope this info helps REVIEW UPDATE: It’s been just over a year now since I bought my truck I have about 10,000 miles on it now so I thought I would update my original review. The last time I took my truck back to my local dealer was in January 2020 and they reprogrammed the transmission module and I have not really had an issue with the transmission since then so that helped a lot. My last truck was a 2001 Silverado so it took a little getting used to all the new computer controlled components but I am really enjoying my new truck now and I now feel the same way about my new truck that I used to feel about my old truck it’s a part of the family now. I’m sure you truck guys know what I mean. So I would recommend Chevy trucks to anyone thinking of buying a new truck just take your time, do a lot of test drives, do your due diligence and make an educated decision. Good luck

Bought a 2019 Silverado Lt with a 5.3 and an 8 speed. Since the day I bought it? 2 days in had defected break switch. Could not get truck in gear. Radio has had 4 updates. Bluetooth dropping in out, display goes blank or goes a pretty rainbow if you are into that stuff. Had a water leak. Got new carpet. Replacing bumper because of bad Crome. And the transmission is junk. And I only have 5000 on it. It’s finally in its 3rd time for transmission so after this a lawyer. I like the truck? But definitely a no brained. Poorly built.

GM garbage

I'm writing this based on a 2 week loaner I was given to drive because my 2017 Silverado with a 6 speed tranny 5.3 v8 is back for the fourth time for many tranny issues and various other problems which GM says they can't find or fix?? My thoughts now on the 2019 ......chevy had fallen way down the ladder. These trucks are ugly the ride is decent when you stay away from the Z71 package and 20 inch wheels. These options are a waste of money because my 2017 has them and mine rides like a tank. This 2019 goes down the road like a bullet and uses no gas hardly compared to mine . If you must buy a Chevy get the 8 speed tranny because it is far better than the 6 Do your home work and read all you can on the new trucks and you will see Dodge and Ford are killing GM across the board. I have driven Ford and Dodge and I must say they both ride brake and perform way above Chevy. I have beat this 2019 hard and the only good thing I can say is that MPG is good. Interior is cheap ride is decent but shaky and for 47000 bucks I would buy Ford or Dodge over this Chevy any day!! I don't know why edmunds doesn't have a option in their reviews for a LT double bab 5.3 truck? That is what my review is based on and not a LTZ. You would be more upset if it was because you paid way too much for that piece of junk over this one!! GM is back to building garbage again along with their false advertising on TV. GM trucks are to be rented and not bought because you will not be happy down the road. Please do some research!!

If you get the 6.6 bed with the 4 door, Check the length of your garage, The truck is 20 feet long and my garage is 20' 1 in, So my new truck will have to sit out side. Over all I love the truck!

Massive disappointment

This truck has been a massive disappointment. At 29k miles it had to have a new back up camera and radio. At 31k miles the power steering went out and the wiring in the steering column needed to be replaced. At 33k miles the exhaust pipes rusted apart at the split… this vehicle is just a complete disaster. I’m incredibly disappointed in Chevy.
