Wouldn't Drive Anything Else

Truck is awesome, Power and Looks blow the competition away! No problems after 23,000 miles. At 3k miles replaced the stock Firestones with BFG KO's, handles exceptionally well, superior in snow, looks great and still 18mpg on highway. Doesn't use a drop of oil, change it every 5k using Mobil 1 Synthetic and K&N high flow filter. Only the best for this motor.

Bought this truck new 9 years ago, have put 98,000 miles on it and still running the original front brakes! Had to replace the rears at about 90k. It's a 4.8L and has had very few problems: ABS sensor quit around 39k, just after warranty expired, but dealer fixed it for a hundred bucks; fuel pressure regulator quit around 85k, and that cost me $300; had to replace the battery about a year and a half ago; and leaky rear sliding window was fixed under warranty. Still runs and drive just about like new. Does tick for about 30 seconds after cold start, and fuel gauge is erratic. Overall a quiet and solid truck. I haul dirt bikes occasionally and it rides better with a load.

Drive it until it dies

Bought new in '00 and other than the front wheel bearings and the crank sensor replaced I have not had any problems with it. 184k, repeat 184k, mostly HWY driving averaging 16 mpg in winter to 18 in warmer weather and not a drop of oil is used. I tow a 19ft runabout and there is plenty of power even later with the high mileage. Piston slap when cold starting is somewhat annoying, but service tech's have said that it is common and does not cause damage. This truck will be driven by me until it croaks and then I will more than likely replace the engine or whatever else needs to be done. Transmission flushed every 60k or so does wonders. Great truck. Every Ford owner wishes they were so lucky..

Overall the truck is a very nice vehicle. Have had a few of the usual problems. The 4 WD switch, a slight knocking, the steering shaft rattling, and the slight driveline clunk. I have been in other makes and they all have there down sides. I regularly dive fords, and would never own one. I use the truck on the farm, for trips down south and soon to haul a couple of twin babies. wouldn't trade it for anything.
