Best car I've ever owned

Bought my Impala LT brand new in March 2007. Now it's February 2015 and well over 100,000 miles later. Had the steering recall issue dealt with when it was new, but that's the only thing it had to go back to the dealer for. I change the oil religiously, every 3,000 whether the "change oil" reminder comes on or not. Replaced the usual items that need periodic replacement on any car, like brake pads, tires, muffler. Changed the tranny fluid and anti-freeze and so on. Bottom line is that my Impala has given me many years of reliable, comfortable service, with no end in sight. (I kinda wish it would die because I love the new Impala). Beats a Korean or Japanese car any day!

I purchased this car about 6 months ago with 91,000 miles on it. I am going to college in Chicago and reside in Michigan. I drive home all the time and have racked up 14,000 in the past three months. This car has been amazing. Clean carfax. nothing has ever been serviced besides new tires and oil changes. I cannot believe the power out of the basic V6 and the fuel economy for a full-sized four door car. I am overly happy with everything GM has done with this. If you maintain this car and dont be stupid with it, this car will last you for a lifetime.

Probably the most reliable car I've owned

I have 151,000mi on my LT and it's still going strong. I have the ECU and TCM tuned to get the best possible performance/mpg and also to make transmission shifts firmer than how they come from the factory. I've had two very minor issues: the stupid hvac blend door motors I've replaced all of them, and the rear bumper paint has developed bubbles in the clear coat. Otherwise, this is a very good car and with regular maintenance seems like a vehicle I could probably get another 100k miles out of easily. Don't go any longer than 50,000mi between transmission servicing, I do mine like every 30k mi and I use synthetic fluids/oils for everything. This car is literally the embodiment of a GM sedan....easy to work on, cheap to maintain, and performance/reliability/styling that's good enough to make me want to hold onto it.

Impala SS: Update to my 01/21/08 Review

I thought I would update my 01/21/08 review to help fellow readers; my ratings have been adjusted a little bit. Since Jan '08 I have added a complete Magnaflow exhaust system, K&N intake, and had the car extensively dynotuned. I realize these are steps most owners will not take to fully explore the SS's capabilities, but if you do-- wow! Highway MPG is up slightly, 0-60 times are down to the low 5's, HP is now around 335. Friends and clients often ask to drive the car; they love the room, the power, and how tight the car feels. My SS is Silverstone Metallic & garners many "That's so classy!" comments. The only downside is that I've had the steering shaft replaced under warranty.
