I received my Impala new in November of 2002 as my police patrol vehicle. This car has been outstanding! It came equipped with the 9C1 police package and has not disappointed me. It is very powerful with the 3.8L V-6, and the 4 wheel disc brakes are outstanding. I have 115,000 miles in less than 5 years and have not replaced the brakes. The interior room gets a little cramped in the front, but the trunk is huge and holds all of my junk with ease. This car is a vast improvement over the Lumina police car. The only repairs to date are new electric cooling fans and a catlytic converter covered under warranty. I would buy one for my own personal car

I have had the car now for 2 months and already has 8800 miles. Not a squeak to be heard. Car is solid and responsive. I drive 10 over posted highway speed and expect to be there when merging. With this car, that's not even an issue.... Performance is what you would expect in a more expensive sports car and not in a 4-dr sedan. Even looks better than most sports cars. I compared vehicles up to $60K and would choose this one again. Given my driving habits, gas mileage is a respectable 26mpg combined Highway/City. The interior design needs major touchups.

We have owned our Impala now for about 4 years and we love it. We have not experienced any major mechanical problems. We have a 3.4 cu. inch engine which I wished had a little more pick up. It gets great gas mileage. We would defiantly go out and purchase another Impala.

I've had this car for about a year now with next to no problems. I was just use to driving SUV's until I tried sedans especially in the winter and it is great. In my line of work this car can really get up to speed when needed. The only problem was with the dash board instrumentation.
Very Generic Feeling

In short, this car just came off feeling like a very generic economy sedan. The HP and Torque numbers look good on paper, but on the road the 3.4L engine was quite anemic. The steering had a huge dead spot in the middle on straightaways at highway speeds; keeping it on-center took a lot of work. Also, the sound system has really poor separation and muddy bass. I know some might disagree with this, but even with less HP (and for about $2,100 less in price), I really prefer the Dodge Stratus for styling, comfort and handling.
