My 2014 C7 Z51 purchased new (special ordered and waited 5 months for it to be built). Has been such a phomeminally fun car to drive, but from a GM quality expectation, my particular car has been the worst example of reliability and quality I have ever experienced. Within a few weeks of ownership, the radiator began leaking which was replaced. Then the AC stopped working and the entire system had to be replaced. At 8000 miles, the engine had a "castrophic failure" and was replaced. Resulting front end alignment issues continued following the engine replacement. Additionally, the front end suspension was not torked correctly and began to slip against the frame. Leather Material near the front defroster vent lifted up and the entire dash was replaced. The drivers side door interior was replaced due to rattling noises. Vent control knobs rattled and were replaced. The removable top seals were replaced due to squeaking. And now there is a water leak into the trunk and left storage bin, soaking the owners manuals in the bin and the entire trunk carpet. The rear bumper skin has been removed uncovering a gap between the inside and outside rear compartment moldings (was missing a bit of sealant). The dealership is doing some sort of fiberglass repair and reassembling the car. And those were the major issues. I have owned the car for 20 months, and it has been in for service cumlatevely for 3+ months of that time. The dealership has been very accommodating and performing all repair work under warranty. However, I have asked for a GM representative to discuss my disappoint with their quality, and time after time (many requests), the GM consumer line will only create a issue ticket and refer me to the dealership for resolution (like they are reading from a script). Quite honestly, the quality issues are not caused by the dealership, but GM... They built it and that's who I would love to hear from... But so far... Nothing from GM a representative. I have to express my disappointment with GM, their lack of management response regarding my repeated requests, and quite honestly, my excitement for the car has been overshadowed by the seemly endless quality issues with this new vehicle. The cost was over 76k.... I expect more GM! Not because of how much I paid, but because I had placed my trust in the product and the company to build a reliable, quality car. I suppose Car and Driver got a call from a GM representative when their c7 engine failed. I do hope my bad experiences with the C7 is the exception, as the car drives as awesome as it looks... When it's not in service... Ugh! BTY, as I am writing this, the car again is in service... Again! Going on 3.5 cumulative months sitting at the dealership for repair of some sort. Update... GM has repurchased my vehicle back under the Florida lemon law. Incredibly unhappy about the overall quality experience with the vehicle and truly hope this was an exception to the overall population of the C7.

My First Vette & It's Perfect-Just Not Absolutely

Yes, the brakes do squeal at very low speeds if you apply a slight pressure and coast to a very slow stop. They are of high performance grade and I find that putting a bit more effort in the initial bite makes that annoying sound go away (there are also tips on applying a bit of lube on some forums). The Vette is not your typical everyday car, but can be driven every day; with that said, there are some small things to keep in mind-such as getting in and out and closing the trunk, that I have experienced. You do not have to be a ballerina, however, a bit of a change in how you would get in and out or the Vette versus your 4 door sedan is required (the same kind of change you would have to make if getting into a SUV or truck). I find that if I sit facing out and then swivel in, I avoid twisting my hips and scuffing up the door or seat. Just reverse the process and you just made things whole lot easier (I’m just a bit over 6ft tall). Closing the trunk takes some effort, give it a good push down and you’re done. Pretend the Vette is made of glass or porcelain and you get a do over. For a sports car that gets so much attention in comparison to its cost, power and features; for me, it’s perfect and so easy to drive. My wife was a bit tense to drive such a high powered car for the first time, she forgot all about that in less than 5 miles. I haven’t experienced any negatives that warrant a dealer visit. My Vette is a 2014 Velocity Yellow, Z51 2LT with the NPP exhaust (a must have for me, I view it as part of the whole experience). Will you enjoy a Corvette Stingray? Yes you will. Do you have to get along with a couple quirks? Yes you do. However, you by no means have to; just pay more for your absolute perfect car, if such a car exists.

This is my third Corvette after 2 C6s and of course anyone who has seen the car knows that it's a huge esthetic upgrade over the previous model. It isn't until you drive one and live with it however that you can begin to appreciate how much better the car is inn every way. It's much more refined, quieter, faster, better handling, better riding, comfortable and well thought through than than the previous Vette's I've owned which were like beautiful smiles missing a few teeth. This car is the real deal and it's an absolute joy in every way. I look forward to every drive in it and it makes me feel like an super hero when I drive it. Strongly recommend the mag ride, Z51 and NPP exhaust.

I also own a 2013 BMW M3 Coupe which I compare every car against (one of the best cars ever made IMO) and this is the first American car I have bought in a long time. I purchased a Laguna Blue Z51 manual with the performance exhaust and magnetic ride control. The Stingray drives, handles, and looks awesome. I cannot even get gas without a crowd gathering around the car. The acceleration of the car is extremely fast and the noise it makes in sport or track mode is mind blowing. The manual transmission shifts smoothly and the clear removable hard top does a great job of blocking heat. I have never considered buying a Corvette before but I am really glad I did.

Never wanted a Corvette in my whole life until this one. Always liked them a little, but never loved them enough to buy one----always seemed made for guys in their 60's. This is the FIRST Corvette clearly made for my generation!! I was hunting for a used 911 Turbo or GT-R last Spring when I saw the first reveal of the new Stingray. WOW!! I knew then the Porsche and Nissan were history for me.

I purchased a Premiere Coupe with the manual transmission and have owned it now for 3 weeks. I took it easy (hard to do) for the first 200 miles – something that is in the manual. The drive train is smooth and of course the car is fast. I have been driving in Econ mode and still lots of power. Everyone reading a review knows the car handles well but what surprises me is the suspension is stiff for no body roll but at the same time the suspension is not stiff - absorbs road bumps very smoothly. It is like your mind says turn and the car just does it effortlessly.

I have owned 4 Corvettes and was looking forward to receiving my 2014 convertible this summer. After 2 weeks the car went in to replace the air conditioner compressor. Got it back and 3 weeks later it went in to replace the torque tube. The dealer has had it for 2 1/2 weeks and 3 days ago called me to say they didn't know how to fix it after having gotten a new torque tube from Bowling Green. The dealer then said they had called upon the GM technical folks to help them figure out the problem. Add this to GM's safety and quality failures. The simple problem is that they made the torque tube out of steel instead of aluminum and it transfers too much heat. Can't fix stupid!!!

My stingray just turned 10,000 miles and I have enjoyed every mile. The car is beautiful and great fun to drive. It is a head turner. The navigation and media center are simple to operate and very efficient. The car is fast and handles great. It also holds 2 sets of golf clubs. What more could you ask for.

I love my 14' Stingray Z51. Car looks awesome, and is soo much fun to drive. However, I am having serious, constant issues with the brakes sqeeking all the time, and a loud squeak noise when I am moving. The brakes are very irritating, and the dealer tells me it's normal. The brakes have been squeezing since around 500 miles and my initial call to the dealer they weren't worried about it and said let's check it out on ur first oil change, really? So I have to drive my new vette with squeaky brakes for 6 mos like this?? If that's normal for a $74,000 car I do not want it at all! It's embarrassing its soo loud. Then the squeak when moving, (accelerating or not) between 15-30 miles per hour there is a horrible loud squeak noise that keeps happening. The dealer has heard it several times, the mechanics have heard it several times, and at first were completely mind boggled and said they have no idea what that could possibly be. They were in shock it keeps making this noise. Then they claimed they fixed it but it keeps coming back. Is anybody else having these issues??

A fun car for road trips, The interior feels like it wraps around you, a throw back to the early 90s corvettes, the seats feel great even on longer trips, the instruments panel will give you more information then you will need but is very nice to set up for what ever information you would like, The radio ,Nav sound and look good , the HUD is very nice and works well with the radio and navigation system , giving you radio station and turn by turn information on your windshield. The MRS( ride selection) is another feature that lets you set up the car how you would like the ride and steering to feel as well as how aggressive the exhaust sounds. Room under the back hatch is 15cuft. so two peoples luggage or a day of shopping will fit in the back Some of the interior buttons don't feel to good, mainly on the doors, the materials in the car feel nice and look good. Road noise (from older run flat tires) is noticeable, there are blind spots on the sides as with a lot of modern cars you will need to make an effort to make sure you are clear when changing lanes. The 6 speed automatic is smooth shifting, low rates of failure, up shift are improvement over the 13 Vett, down shifts are a little slow, but still fun when spirted driving with the paddles. The car sits low but not unbearable for most roads (parking curbs another story), the seats may be a little hard to get in and out for some people. The engine runs through the power band smoothly, classic Chevy v8, runs well, does not have many issues, does not need a lot of up keep, idle may be a little ruff. Expect 27-28 MPG on the high way with the Auto and a couple more MPG with the manual trans. Handling is impressive, the car holds the road well, does not have any bad handling traits, with all the ecteronic driving aids, you can set up the car for driving skill level, the active handling will help to keep you safer and drive quicker in most cases, it is a sports car with over 450 HP and TRQ, so you need to respect the car. Over all if you like sports cars, you will most likely enjoy the C7 Corvette, the best value for a sports car with its it capabilities, low maintenance and just fun to drive. It is a bit of a drivers car so there may not be features you find on other high end sports car, still has a bit of a raw feeling to it. The 14 Stingray looks better in person then the pictures, If you are looking at buying a C7 corvette, I would recommend a one owner car, most are very well cared for ,with low mileage, research all the features, models, years and find what you best matches what you want. my car in a 14 Stingray, Z51, 3LT, 6A in Laguna Blue, bought it used with 18000 miles it is at 2300 now, no maintenance issues at this point, mainly wanted a car for road trips and some fun driving on winding back roads, very happy with the car, fun, fast and easy to live with

GM is so frustrating! A/C Heater problem NOT FIXED

I love everything about my 2014 Stingray with the exception of getting GM to fix problems. When I turn on the A/C I get full on 1,000 degree hot air (exaggerating) on my right knee and feet and it is infuriating! In the summer time you don't even want to drive it. GM's solution is "use bilevel" which only works partially and does not blow hard enough on top to keep you cool. It is outrageous that I've had my car since Jan 2014 and they still haven't addressed this known issue. I've lost all faith in General Moters over this issue. This is Customer NO service!!!

Up to 8,000 miles now on this 2014 Corvette. Still significant problems with the HVAC system as reported before. The rear view camera is terrible, takes forever to adjust to the light conditions. Still fun to drive although as I approach my 79th birthday it is a pain to get into and out of, but what the hell!

I have always loved Corvettes since I was a child. I still remember my father redoing my mom's 1964 Stingray Coupeville which was in 85 and we still own it woth only 82,000 original miles. So I always loved them I have owned probably 10 in my lifetime my newest prior tp my 2014 was a 1996 and I was having hard time to love them that is the newer models. I felt like I was getting cheated with what I paid in my opinion poor quality interior. It's hard to believe they made Cadillac which had nice interior yet Many Vettes had alot of plastic which had many cracked dash from the sun ripped seats from poor quality seats. In 2014 when I realized they were bringing back the Stingray I figured I would at least go check it out it was my favorite body style especially 63-67 and it would be 50 years older than my mom's who had passed away. As soon as I saw the Torch Red wit top down and I thought nice. Now let's see the interior. Boy was I blown away. They finally took the time to make it look like a nice sports car should look like. I purchased it with 6 miles on it and I have nothing but great things to say about it. The ride also has been made so much smoother. Alot of Vettes ride like log wagons and they even give yiu the chance to drive it in 6 different modes which is smooth and safe and if you fill like driving like you stole it you can do that easily. You just put it ittn track mode I'd you really want all she has turn the traction control off ittn track mode. If taking ittnnt to track I would practice take off because I didn't think with big 20 inch rims and tires just turning off track mode would make that big difference man was I wrong Ilit just lites them up and just hang on for the ride. Even with Traction control on yiu stomp gas it will spin a little. I was definitely fooled I had a 2010 2 SS Camaro and it wouldn't even chirp the tires. Maybe I got a lemon. I sold it quickly. It had so much tech that when you stomped the gas it would take half second delay before taking off. The Vette doesn't. Even in economy mode if you stomp gas it will give you power then it doesn't hesitate. Again I am so glad the team at Chevy Corvette finally made a top notch Sports car. I hope other Corvette owners are as happy with theirs as I am mine. Also I'm not trying to bash those other Vettes I just thought Chevy Dropped the ball in certain areas.

I have had various American muscle cars in my life and also currently own a cadillac ATS turbo 2.0 which is a great car. Like soem other reviewers have stated I always liked vettes but not enough to plunk down the cash for it. Luckily I'm at the stage of my life where I cab finally afford a performance machine like the C7. This version is a serious performance machine. In order to get similar performance rfom an import you can easily spend 30-70K more than a well equipped C7. I bought a 2LT, Z51 convertible which i think is a great combo package for 70k. Best performance value on the market hands down and this car not only performs, feels and drives great but is also equally stunning looking

We purchased this car 11/25/2013. What fun to drive. 3LT, Dual roof, Aluminum Chrome Wheels, Automatic, Multi-mode exhaust, Carbon Fiber Interior, et. al. Cyber Gray Metallic. Great car a real head rotator. The sharpest looking Corvette since 1963! The comfort level is amazing for a Corvette. We were planning on purchasing a MB SLK 55 AMG, but this car offered a lot more for less. The sophistication of this car is mind boggling, and the fun-to-drive factor is off the chart. This car is a quantum leap forward on the evolutionary scale of the Corvette. We are planning some back road tours in this car. the car is not perfect, but for the money it is outstanding!

Has been a great car, performance is outstanding. For this kind of car it even gets excellent mileage. 11,500 miles and no long trips except when bringing it back from the selling dealership. Plenty of short trips and averaging over 24mpg Don't have it anymore. Traded it in on a 2016 Chevy SS which both my wife and I like better in every respect other than mileage.

I've had my Laguna special edition Stingray for about a week now and all I can say is WOW!! GM really got it right with this one. I've owned a Porsche 911 Turbo S, Lamborghini Gallardo, and I still own a Mclaren MP4 and with the exception of the McLaren I would take the Corvette over all of them. The performance for what will end up being the base Stingray is amazing. Throttle response is phenomenal and handling is as sharp as one of the super cars I mention above. What really surprised me was the interior...the interior on my car is done really well in brown leather and suede. The dash is brown leather and the doors are covered in suede and leather. Simply put it is an amazing car!

Purchased C7 to replace a 370Z. Realize after driving the C7 the Nissan was like driving a turtle. This is my first vette and the curb appeal is beyond anything I imagined. Jet black, upgrade wheels and red calipers. Have parked it next to several Porsches and the C7 streamlining and exterior lines make the German stuff look like cartoon cars. You are paying 1/2 as much for a car that looks twice as good...that's a good deal in anybody's book. Performance and acceleration are awesome.

455 HP, 32 MPG hwy, handling, comfort, sharp appearance, performance...what's not to like? My apologies to the Demon owner...I hope you find your doors soon... but I just couldn't help myself...weather mode works well in wet/snow conditions. It’s not all wheel drive, but a stable rear wheel drive platform. Respect the conditions and it will be fine. Can’t beat the handling in warm weather. Wife loves it on long trips...now if there was just a way to recline the passenger seat a bit more ... 😉

My 2014 C7 is my 12th Corvette. From a '69 427 / 390 to a '75 "no horsepower" to (2) 40th Anny Convt's, a C6 and more; I have been in love with these cars since I was ten years old. The C7 is an incredible machine. (2LT, auto, Coupe, Torch Red) Mine has only 3000 miles and last Friday the thermostat stuck near Santa Claus (Yes, that's a real town) Indiana. Coolant went everywhere. Car was towed 30 miles to nearest Chevy dealer which is 120 miles from my home South of Indy. Car is fixed but I am very disappointed in a car that stickered for nearly $70,000.00.

I have had my new Corvette for about a month and the negative features overshadow the thumbs up I get from lots of folks. The biggest gripe is this so called fuel saving feature. If while cruising along I have to back off the gas, slow down and reapply, the transmission stays in high gear and I can feel the car jerking to get up a hill. No engine lights have come on. This is my 4th Corvette and now I am wishing I had of gotten the standard transmission.

They don’t write songs about Volvo’s or Porsche’s, right ? The C7 Corvette in any trim form is a fine American Made quality automobile. Fast, reliable, comfortable, fun factor of 10. Have enjoyed 22,000 trouble free miles. You feel like “king of the road” when driving a C7. The C7 in short is as close to a street legal race car as you will ever drive. Did I mention the fun factor?...the C7 is addicting to drive. Test drive one and you will see what I’m talking about. You owe it to yourself...buy a C7 Corvette and have the time of your life. A “car guys” or car gals” car. No issues after 26,000 miles of fun drives. A mint condition Torch Red Coupe with Chrome wheels still turns heads and inspires questions 10 years later. Personally I still prefer the C7 over the mid engine C8 after driving both extensively. I prefer the openness of the C7 interior vs the cramped feeling inside the C8. As for the performance difference it’s negligible between the two Corvettes. The C8 has the exact same engine as the C7. The C8 weighs more by about 350 pounds. The handling of the C8 is a bit better under very spirited driving conditions but again that’s about it. Styling is always personal. I like looking over a long hood when driving vs a stubby little nose of the C8. All personal however.

I now have driven 25K miles w/o any problems. Fit and finish are great & no mechanical issues. I've owned a C5 & a C6 Z51. Waiting to order the C8. The C7 out performs both. The curb appeal is amazing. Going from Touring mode to Sport mode on twisty roads clearly demonstrates the dramatic improvement that GM has built into this car. Straight line performance is scary and amazing at the same time. This is a fun ride.

Stung by quality issues and serious defects

One last update....requested by Edmunds. I traded the Vette earlier this Spring for an SL 550. A few weeks later GM sent another recall advisory about the gas tank filler tube. Apparently it has a defect that allows it to separate from the tank, causing fumes to enter the interior and a potential fire or explosion source. They offer a full 10 year replacement warranty once you prove the issue exists. I forwarded the notice to the dealer who passed it on to the new owner. BTW, my new SL has similar ride mode selection except this actually produces a noticeable difference in engine shift patterns, performance and suspension changes. The only noticeable change for the Vette was a louder exhaust in Sport Mode, until it cut down to 4 cylinders after a few seconds of driving. Good luck to any Vette buyers. Just don’t count on loving it for more than a few weeks or months. Here's another update requested my Edmunds. The squealing breaks remain an issue. The last service "could not find or repeat" the issue yet they squealed all the way home! Apparently many others have recognized the issues where GM is now greatly discounting the prices on new vehicles. Can't wait to trade this in for a better quality car. Edmunds asked me to update the review since I first posted, see the original comments below. It took over 6 months for GM and the dealer to replace the infotainment system and required multiple follow up calls and threats of lemon law suit to get it resolved. At least now it's working as designed. However the design is awful and the owners guide instructions are poorly written. I've had it service every 2,500 miles and until last service was at the Turnersville Chevrolet where I bought it. Recently I moved about 5 miles away, no longer in walking distance to the dealer. To my surprise the dealer refuses to provide a rental car replacement... At my cost, unless it's for warranty service. Each service calll required a full day and lots of prompting at 5pm to get my car bake. Most times it was not done and required another full day for service. The last time I switched to Pellegrino Chevrolet for service and couldn't believe the difference. I dropped off the car at 5pm, was out the door in 5 minutes with a rental that was waiting for me, was called at 10:30 am the next day that service was done and when I came back to pick it up, the receptionist took about 5 minutes before I was on my way. The remaining issue is the front brakes still squeal a shrill ring when stopping at very low speed. The Turnersville dealer told me several times this was normal... It's a race car! Original review: I've had my z51 automatic for 2 months now and just over 800 miles... minus the 10 days it sat at the dealer for replacement of the torque tube and bad bearings. My neighbor called the rattler due to all the noise from under the car. The infotainment system is full of bugs, loudly prompts " Please say a command" at random times. The nav screen goes haywire like a 50's TV set and the temp setting controls are awful and won't maintain a constant temp. GM now acknowledged the system issues but has no fix, stating they "may" have a fix in late February. The steering design is poor where tight turns at low speed are lumpy, yet the GM manual says this is "normal".

One owner, ordered late 2014 with high number VIN, 13,000 miles. Always garaged and only driven in the rain once. Immaculate in and out. No engine modifications. Automatic w/paddle shift. Night Race Blue Metallic paint and Jet Black Leather interior. Head Up Display. Stock 19” front and 20” rear wheels with red painted brake calipers and Z51 rear spoiler. All other available power and audio options. Exterior additions: “Vette Stripes” dual silver stripes with red pinstripes and carbon flash sideskirts, all professionally installed. Four wheel well extensions/splash guards installed. Several tasteful interior upgrades made too. After market wheels and new all season tires used every winter, so Summer Only Michelin’s on car have only 5,000 miles. Looks great, rides great, sounds great and drives as aggressively or as mildly as you want. Very comfortable to drive with a very quiet cabin. The exhaust sound is easily discerned while the audio system is excellent. Interior is well thought out and appointed. My only criticism is the slow acting seat heater and lack of heated steering wheel. Over all, my tenth Corvette and best by far.

Kidding aside this car has been all over the USA from desert, to mountains, to plains, cities and the occassional track day. With nearly 40k miles I have averaged 25 mpg overall so no complaints, looks great, rides like a sedan yet can be a tiger when you want it. Simply amazing how this car can be anything you imagine, except it won't tow a boat, sleep comfortably or provide a shower.

The paint has the worst orange peel I have ever seen. The panels don't fit properly. How can this be GMs flagship car? The tires can't be driven in temps below 30 degrees. What the heck is going on over @ GM ? Sold the piece of junk while it still was in hot demand.

GM has horrible build quality, supplier quality, dealer control and worse customer service. I Will buy German cars now. My engine dropped a valve at 15mph and cost me 18K to replace it. GM would not assist, they continue to have bad valve springs in many if their engines.

I would have liked a heated steering wheel, an automatic deck lid closer, mirrors that folded in when leaving car, seat belts that don't get stuck, and most important, an infotainment center that doesn't drive you crazy trying to make it work.Apparently the C-8 I just ordered addresses all those issues. I hope.

I bought a 2014 Stingray and I absolutely love this car. I can’t even stop at a light without people complimenting my car. Not to mention the Sport mode sounds when gearing down. WOW !!! This is my first Corvette and won’t be my last. I just haven’t fell in love with the C8’s yet. Enough power for me, he will take you as fast and hard as you wanna push him without any problems. He’s a hoss for sure

I have enjoyed my corvette for the past 8 years. I started driving it to work every day around three years ago. I figured, I bought my dream car and I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible. I refuse to let it sit pretty in my garage. I love the feeling of driving down the street and little kids will stop playing just to admire my car and wave, they call it the batman car. I have been at stop lights and people will take out their phones and take video and photos of my black beauty. I don't know much about engines and torques or any of that, all I know is that every time I look at my car, I can't help but smile and when I ride my car, I feel like I have the coolest car on the road.

GM never gets the credit it deserves for its vehicles. The 2014 Stingray C7 2LT (NOT a 'Z') has the most beautiful body design of any other Corvette EVER (in my opinion) with an obviously well thought-out up-market fit-and-finish (fit-and-finish being something that GM often gets dinged-on). The classic V8 engine performs as outstanding as ever and, should you like it (I don't ... this should be an option set ON or OFF by the owner), the vehicle automatically runs as a V4 getting 28-40 miles to the gallon. Why do we need this when the V8 gets 28-30 miles to the gallon: higher than any other performance car? It is a beautiful, comfortable, easy-to-drive, performance vehicle AND my husband's dream-come-true (after me).

This is my 1st corvette. The car drives great and has a bit of power, not mind blowing but good. I have had numerous issues which I believe were (possible) latent defects that may have been quietly addressed later newer models. Brake squeal, over heating due to fan failure and catastrophic a electrical problem that burnt out the entire fuse box and mains. The infotainment is very slow to start and switch screens. Now with 3G being terminated and no fix for it you are left with out onstar services which for me was very useful. Eventually I will go back to BMWs but for now I will drive the corvette till the wheels fall off or the Torque Tube fails(which is another possible latent defect) and never buy a GM product that has just launched and the bugs not worked out.
